  • Awesome Ego: Particularly with smart fans. The New Day are such smarmy trolls that they became the breakout heels of 2015.
  • Broken Base:
    • Their long run as tag team champions that established them as the new dominant tag team in the tag team division able to beat down established stars drew a lot of heat. Many fans though that they were simply too goofy and little serious to fit the image of a dominant, menacing stable which goes against established stars, and that they should've stuck to having fun and compete in the tag division. Others believed that their quirky role is funny and refreshing when compared with the classic serious stables — and it certainly helps that the people who like them see them as the successor to 3MB rather than The Shield.
    • Although they eventually gotten over thanks to their sheer charisma, back in the starts of the group there were complaints by fans that The New Day's gimmick was too vague and unspecific, sometimes bordering on Informed Ability with respect to their gospel theme.
    • While the group managed to get massively popular without completely abandoning serious title contendership, there is still the feeling that its members are being wasted to some degree as serious wrestlers. Kingston is the spearhead of this idea, as while many are grateful to The New Day for making Kofi finally receive something resembling a push after a long time in the low card, others lament it also buried his own character under their usual slapstick (not to mention that it also prevented the possibility of a more focused solo run, which fans have been arguing about since his feud with Randy Orton in 2009). The same opinion has fallen over Woods and Big E.

      WATCHES NEW DAY SEGMENTS
      LEAVES
    • New Day's unicorn horns sold out in more or less 5 minutes.
    • Many viewers consider them (as a collective) one of the only good parts of the show during the latter half of 2015. The similarities to two other recent darkhorses, 3MB and Bo Dallas, certainly helped.
    • According to reports, The New Day were the top merchandise sellers during WrestleMania 32 weekend.
  • Fandom Rivalry: With fans of the Bullet Club, especially the trio which comprises The Elite.
  • Growing the Beard: Did they ever. The Face–Heel Turn in early 2015 grew them a ZZ Top-level beard.
  • Harsher in Hindsight: Back in 2018, in the wake of their fifth tag team championship, Booker T appeared to bless the team in a segment that ended with them doing the spinaroonie. The only one who didn't join? Big E, who required assistance from his teammates. Cut to the celebrations after Kofi won the WWE Championship from Daniel Bryan, and Big E did a leg split in the following episode of Raw! Too bad that it came at the cost of suffering a torn meniscus.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight:
  • Narm Charm: Who else could make a funeral for a trombone a legitimate Tear Jerker?
  • Rescued from the Scrappy Heap: New Day took what was originally going to be another racist gimmick (black preachers) and turned it into an exceptional heel gimmick by simply playing the traits fans previously found annoying up to eleven to the point that it became amusing. It also helps that all three men were considered criminally underused in WWE prior to becoming the New Day.
  • Rooting for the Empire:
    • The New Day will cheat and insult their way to wins on a regular basis but they're just so entertaining that the crowd goes nuts every time they win. They got so popular that they made a Heel–Face Turn in early 2016, while only slightly tweaking their heel personalities (i.e., no longer inciting cheap heat) not unlike The Rock in his early days as a babyface.
    • In June 2016, they were teased into a feud with The Wyatt Family. Super-positive, trombone-playing faction against doom-saying, goat mask-wearing faction? WWE fans can't lose...right?
    • Then Survivor Series 2017 had them feud against The Shield. So the optimistic unicorn-horns, flapjack eating group against the badass military anti-heroes? Everyone wins!
  • Shocking Moments:
    • Everything about The New Day's Road to WrestleMania 35. Kofi became a last-minute replacement for an injured Mustafa Ali in a Elimination Chamber match for the WWE Championship at Elimination Chamber 2019, and as such participated in a gauntlet match on the SmackDown go-home show to determine who would enter last in the Elimination Chamber match; Kofi proceeded to pin WWE Champion Daniel Bryan and last over an hour before being eliminated, and then at Elimination Chamber, Kofi was the last wrestler Bryan had to beat to retain the title. As such, Kofi has been getting a chance to have a WWE Championship match at WrestleMania, but he's had to go through a gauntlet match to make it in. Kofi wins the gauntlet match, but Vince McMahon then forced him to also wrestle Bryan, who defeated an exhausted Kofi. The next week, after being confronted by The New Day, Vince has Big E and Xavier Woods go through a gauntlet match of their own so that Kofi would in fact receive the championship match. Cue Xavier and Big-E going through every tag team in the SmackDown roster, ending it with Big E flipping the announcer's table to get Erick Rowan eliminated by count-out.
    • Extreme Rules 2019 ups this: with Kofi defending his championship against Samoa Joe, Big E and Xavier Woods win the WWE Tag Team Championships making The New Day six-time tag team champions. Holy shit indeed.
    • The New Day being split up in the 2020 WWE Draft when Big E is drafted to SmackDown immediately after newly-crowned tag champions Kofi and Xavier were drafted to Raw shortly after the team was finally reunited from injury leave.
  • Signature Scene:
    • Their Wrestlemania 32 entrance where they emerged from a giant box of Booty-Os cereal while dressed in Saiyan armor. (No we are not making this up)
    • Big E and Xavier Woods's Tag Team Gauntlet Match at the end of March 2019 (in order to get Kofi to become the No. 1 contender to fight Daniel Bryan for the World Heavyweight Championship at Wrestlemania 35) with the ending of all three members crying in the middle of the ring.
    • The New Day's farewell in late 2020 with Xavier and Kofi off to RAW and Big E in Smackdown.
  • Spiritual Successor: To The Nation of Domination. Many compare The New Day with The Nation because The New Day consist of only black performers. In addition, they also have similar initials, TNoD and TND. Unlike The Nation, the direction was taken of a much more positive note (Power of Positivity and enjoying things like video games and other pop culture) than a more aggressive approach (militant Black Panthers reference), which led to one of the longest reigning factions in WWE history without a change in the group.
