For further clarification, this line appears in Nan's Christmas Carol. When the Ghost of Christmas Future arrives to show Nan what will become of her, an older-looking Nan is seen sitting all by herself in the corner of a nursing home's recreation room, where her old friends mock her and outright say they hate her. In a shaky, weak voice, Nan hopefully asks the nurse if anyone's come to visit her, and the nurse replies that no one has—just as no one ever does. Nan, about to cry, whispers the above line repeatedly, completely alone and broken.
