• Goddamned Bats: Or rather, Goddamned Dinosaurs — when you kill one, it collapes into a pile of bones that continue to block your shots. Said bones cannot be destroyed, by the way.
• Scrappy Mechanic: In the Arcade Archives port, you cannot change any settings if you play High Score mode or Caravan mode. While disabling settings like starting lives and rapid-fire are understandable, what isn't is also preventing the player from changing display settings, including screen orientation, thus forcing players to play the game in a pillarboxed window if they want to play competitively.
• Sequelitis: 3D, which suffered from dated graphics and unnecessary perspective changes. It also served as a Franchise Killer for the series as a whole, until Sol Cresta was released almost 15 years later and whipped the series back into what it should be. It was also rendered non-canon to the series with Sol Cresta's release.
