- Angst Aversion: Naturally because of it's Too Bleak, Stopped Caring levels of grimdark over something that's pretty lighthearted. It's quite hard for people to get into the bootleg film.
- Broken Base: Either you think it’s a cool Satire on Hollywood or it’s a poor bastardization of a beloved franchise too dark for its own good and that its attempts at being Satire fall really flat because of how it doesn't do much with it.
- Harsher in Hindsight: While the film was already dark, it becomes downright surreal after Power Rangers (2017), an official Darker and Edgier PR film that also resulted in tons of Wangst that did poorly at the box office.
- Hilarious in Hindsight:
- A Power Rangers team with military influences? The Ranger Sentries say hi.
- This wouldn't be the last time an Any Last Words? exchange with a Power Ranger ended with the classic "It's Morphin' Time!" remark.
- Misaimed Fandom:
- Many people see the film as too dark and claim it should be Lighter and Softer, ignoring the fact that the film is a Satire on Hollywood Darker and Edgier remakes, using an incredibly lighthearted franchise to satirize this practice. Although some people (such as RebelTaxi) do bring up the fact that its satirization of the practice falls flat when it doesn't even bother much of parodying it besides playing the trope as straight as possible. Making it come across as more or less a straigtforward Dark Fic with not much other substance.
- If that wasn't enough there's also a subset of people whom enjoy this film because they dislike Power Rangers and enjoy how badly this film treats them even though it's mostly "satire".
- Too Bleak, Stopped Caring: Power Rangers has always been lighthearted, even its darkest seriesnote have at least some level of comedy to them. This movie, on the other hand, has little to no moments of anything but nonstop darkness without even taking a moment to breathe, with many of your childhood heroes either dead or evil, leading many PR fans to reject the film with even Saban themselves and Jason David Frank, Tommy Oliver himself disowning the short film.
