YMMV / Pentagón Jr.

Go To

  • Awesome Music: His awesome synth tune in Lucha Underground ("Thrill Switch", by Cut One). In AEW both him and his brother go by a pretty snazzy hip hop number.
  • Draco in Leather Pants: Throughout a lot of his runs, he's really just a unhinged psycho, but fans still love him no matter what and root for him to win. As per the usual irony, he is known to wear leather pants every now and then.
  • Evil Is Cool: The crowd of Lucha Underground certainly seemed to think so, as he's actually one of the most applauded wrestlers on the show. However, the crowd DID start booing him HARD after he assaulted Melissa Santos.
  • Ensemble Dark Horse: It is very clear he was supposed to be just a midcarder in Lucha Underground, but he soon proceeded to steal the whole show. He is now widely viewed as the most prolific product of the now defunct Lucha Underground promotion/TV series.
  • Fan Nickname: Affectionately called "Penta" by many. Reached Ascended Nickname status when Pentagón registered "Penta El Zero M" as an alternate ring name.
  • Memetic Mutation: The "CERO MIEDO!" handsign and phrase has a bit of a life of its own. It is even used as a crowd chant for Penta or his brother ("CE-RO MI-EDO! *clap clap clap*").
  • Moral Event Horizon: In Lucha Underground, he was skirting it by breaking his opponents' arms, but he gleefully somersaulted over it while chanting "CERO MIEDO!" when he attempted to break Melissa Santos' arm. He soon TOPPED it by dousing Vampiro in gasoline as part of his gambit to make Vampiro accept a match against him at Ultima Lucha. Despite this, fans still cheer for him.
  • More Popular Replacement: He's the ninth person to use the "Pentagón" name and gimmick in some way, and suffice to say he dwarfs all the previous holders of the name put together when it comes to popularity and impact.
  • Nightmare Fuel: Pentagón Jr can be terrifying when he wants to. His kidnapping of Sami Callahan in Impact, for example, was straight out of a horror film.
  • Rooting for the Empire: Lucha Underground soon learned it was nigh-impossible to make people root against Pentagón Jr, because he's just that damn cool.
