YMMV / PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie

Go To

  • Like You Would Really Do It: Skye nearly dying four times; first time when she was really young, after trying to go after Ryder during a snowstorm, the second time is when the meteor was crashing into Adventure City and almost struck her, before Ryder ran in and got her out of the way, the third time is when Victoria Vance de-powers her and then strands her on a plane that's about to crash, and the fourth time is she rams through a giant meteor and nearly gets killed. Luckily she makes it out okay.
  • Memetic Mutation: "Saw Patrol." explanation
  • Moral Event Horizon:
    • Victoria Vance crosses this when she not only steals Skye's crystal and leaves her powerless, but also deliberately strands her on a plane that's about to crash, which would have killed Skye if she hadn't managed to land the plane safely.
    • Humdinger crosses this when he attempts to personally stomp on and crush the Paw Patrol during the city battle.
  • Nightmare Fuel: Doubles as a Tearjerker. Skye's Near-Death Experience after ramming through a humongous meteor. When it explodes, Ryder and the pups react in horror; since Skye decided to fly through it, she also got caught in the explosion, knocking her out. We then see her fall into the ocean, where she nearly drowns. When her body floats down to the ocean floor, there's nothing but darkness and silence, except that if one listens carefully, you can hear Ryder and the pups' screaming out to her in the distance. Thankfully, this only lasts for ten seconds before the crystals manage to save her from drowning and empower her to fly out unharmed.
  • The Woobie: Skye. Poor girl has it worse than even Chase in the last film. Skye was the runt of her litter, and barely got any share of food because the bigger pups would eat it all, she wasn't picked for adoption and was left alone in a drafty barn for sometime. That is until Ryder came into the picture and she thought the only way to get a better chance at life, she would have to take matters into her own hands. She then goes after Ryder during a snowstorm, where she nearly dies by the time the boy had found her. When Skye's Power Crystal got stolen by Victoria Vance, Ryder benches her as a way to keep her safe. Unfortunately, she thinks Ryder lost all faith in her and she tries to retrieve the crystal herself...and she takes the other pups' crystals hoping that she would be more powerful than the Mad Scientist. To make matters worse, she gets captured by Vance and ends up giving her the power source needed to pull in more meteors from space. At this point, Skye is probably thinking My God, What Have I Done?.
  • What Do You Mean, It's for Kids?: This movie got number of complaints from parents saying that the movie has way more violent scenes than the first film. The movie did indeed get a PG rating for "mild action and peril" due to it being Darker and Edgier than the series' prequel film, and the following scenes shown in the film are Victoria Vance causing a fire at a junkyard whilst stealing an electromagnet, the meteor crashing into the streets of Adventure City Skye nearly dying at least four times; special mentions have to be the moment where Skye nearly dies in the snow while trying to find Ryder in a flashback and the moment where after ramming into a huge meteor, she gets knocked unconscious from the impact, falls into the ocean and drowns (with the crystals saving her at the last minute), a giant Mayor Humdinger nearly crushing Marshall in his hands, and Chase and Liberty almost falling to their deaths.
  • Woolseyism: In the film, Rubble mishears the Adventure City Headquarters announcer saying "Launch" as "lunch." In the Japanese trailer, he mishears the narrator saying "Nice" as "rice."
