- Bile Fascination: Although the film is fairly obscure, it has still earned enough of an infamous critical reputation to draw some viewers in out of morbid curiosity, probably helped by Jason "Wee Man" Acuña's involvement.
- Cliché Storm: A family finds themselves having a tough Christmas after the loss of their mom and the overworked Gadgeteer Genius dad invents a new device that the dimwitted thieves plan to steal for themselves. Together with an amateur superhero elf, the kids must beat back the crooks and save their father (so he can get with his love interest).
- So Bad, It's Good: For some, the film is a wild Narm-filled experience full of both hilariously flat and overexaggerated acting and nonsensical turns of plot.
- Special Effects Failure: Being a low-budget Direct to Video kids Christmas film, the movie is abound with this. Of special note is the janky CGI sleigh flying through the air, Elf-Man "flying", and Eric's invention that happens to look exactly like an old computer memory stick slot.
- Squick:
- The oddly graphic depiction of the reindeer defecating and farting, complete with a close-up of their rears and the full bag of crap that Elf-Man has to handle.
- Amy drinking the "bull milk" Grandma offers her.
- They Copied It, So It Sucks!: A common complaint among critics is that it very closely resembles Home Alone in premise and plot, with the only key differentiation being the addition of the titular elf.
