  • Americans Hate Tingle: Apparently the show did extremely poorly on NBC, but was quite popular elsewhere.
    • It did not do that badly when you look at the numbers - the show had (on average) 2.62 million viewers, which is actually moderately good. It was more the fault of NBC for not properly promoting the show. Many viewers did not become aware of it until the first season was almost over!
  • Complete Monster: "Desperation & Desperados" has Gian Carlo. Chief of security for Mafia boss Nicolo Conti, Gian Carlo is assigned to rescue Conti's kidnapped daughter, Angela, after brothers Antonio and Paulo raid Conti's drug stash and capture her. After executing the warehouse guard, Gian Carlo tracks the brothers to a marketplace and opens fire; when Paulo and Antonio manage to make their escape, Gian Carlo instructs his men to kill the witnesses, slaughtering twenty-five people - including two children - in an effort to keep it quiet. He follows the brothers to Slovenia and kills another nine people at a gas station, before cornering them at a hospital where he murders Paulo, two hospital workers and two police officers who try to stop him. He subsequently runs Angela and Antonio off the road, fatally wounding Antonio in the process, shoots one of his men when he objects to the idea of hurting Angela, tries to kill Angela herself while ranting about how she does not appreciate what he has done for her, and then dies in a shootout with the police. Leaving a trail of human wreckage - including 42 dead - throughout Italy and Slovenia, Gian Carlo did more damage in an afternoon than most gangsters do in their entire lives.
  • Everyone Can See It: In the two-parter "Special Ops", certain members of the ICC team view Hickman and San's time in France as this. When they receive the news that Hickman and San are already in France in relation to a case they are working on, none of the team members express shock at this idea, and, seemingly, are pleasantly surprised by the idea of the two of them spending some time together. Ultimately, their relationship does not go anywhere as Hickman and his fellow carnival worker enter into a relationship together near the end of the first season. It will, unfortunately, never have any possibility of happening now that Anne-Marie has died.
    • In a more accurate example, the attraction between McConnell and Pride was obvious to everybody in the unit, and resulted in many, many jokes at their expense.
  • Ho Yay: A bit between Sebastian and Tommy. Tommy got, for example, very vocal and protective when Sebastian was under suspicion of corruption and yelled at everyone who dared say anything about it.
    • Louis/Carl, which is the most popular pairing on fanfiction sites.
  • Nightmare Fuel: Quite a bit - for example the truckers from season one, who kidnap two couples and force them to battle to the death in a mock arena. The worst part is that they specifically look for families with young children, and then abduct the children of the losing couple (and also threaten to kill the winners' child if they ever say anything to the authorities).
  • They Changed It, Now It Sucks!: The majority of fans' reactions to the news that 75% of the main cast had left after season two.
  • The Woobie: Anne-Marie San could definitely qualify as she was kidnapped by the serial killer in the pilot, in part due to her caring nature as Hickman asks to stay in their vehicle so he can "take care" of something (i.e. take the pain medication he is addicted to). She agrees to go into a building alone, but not before telling Hickman to "take his time." This causes Hickman to feel tremendous guilt for leaving her to be kidnapped and, ultimately, is the catalyst for the end of his addiction to the painkillers. Fortunately, she is rescued by the team by the end of the pilot, although not without sustaining some fairly severe injures from the killer in the process. She later, somewhat abruptly, dies in a car crash at the end of season one.
