A lot has to be cut from many games, and those under the Reclassified and All-Stars wings are no exception. On this page is anything that had to be cut from the games at some point during development, each organised accordingly.

Sonic Reclassified

Both takes

  • During development of Reclassified, there were plans to include a "VS. Mode" between two players, in the vein of Sonic the Fighters and Super Smash Bros.. This was cut to help save time on the game. A screenshot of what its character select would've been like is presented as the image for this page.
    • While the old version was cut, a brand-new version of this mode is being made for the game.
  • One fan-submitted letterbox background, based on the infamous "Sonic 1: WTF LAME" ROM hack, originally had a prod at Reclassified being styled after Sonic Origins instead of Sonic Jam ("WHY ORIGINS INSTEAD OF JAM?"), a callback to what the game was planned to become at one point. Since these plans have scrapped, the message on the border has since been changed to "SOME MESS THE SONIC.EXE COMMUNITY TURNED INTO, EH?" on request from the original border designer.

Sonic Reclassified: Genesis' Awakening

  • During the development of the upcoming Sin Demo, there were plans to include an alternate soundtrack for the majority of the game's content, pretty much in the vein of alternating soundtracks from the likes of Sonic the Hedgehog CD and Sonic 3D: Flickies' Island, though due to a mix of lacking ideas for the alternate soundtrack and the risk of overloading the file size too much, this was ultimately scrapped, and the best picks between both soundtracks were compiled together.
  • The upcoming planned Extra Story for Reclassified: Genesis' Awakening was originally going to go under the name "Project Syn". As ideas changed, it was eventually decided that this would be renamed to "Project 16", referring to the SEGA Genesis's 16-bit hardware.
  • All of Genesis' Awakening became this following Rain and Pico stepping out of the game's development for good, leaving EXE Origins as the sole take of the game.

Sonic.exe Delta Saga

Sonic.exe Delta Genesis

  • Espio was originally considered as one of the main playable characters in this game. However, plans soon changed to give Vector the playable spotlight in the game instead.

Sonic.EXE All-Stars (Classic Games) / HBC: VS SoniKiller

  • On the official archive page for Sonic.EXE All-Stars 2, a post goes into more detail about what could have been for the game.
  • For The Lost Game, the Special Stage for obtaining the Chaos Emeralds would've been all interconnected, using all six of base-game Sonic the Hedgehog's Special Stages alongside an original section.
  • The VS SoniKiller game would've included a second phase that utilised Breaking the Fourth Wall to the extreme, like moving the window around, changing your desktop background, and even tweaking your volume at random.
  • The aforementioned battle itself eventually became this, with the decision to cut SoniKiller from almost ALL Sonic.EXE All-Stars content in the foreseeable future (save for Refined Edition), due to a unified disinterest in the character.

Sonic.EXE All-Stars (Remakes)

Sonic.EXE All-Stars: The Original Trilogy

  • There were plans to further expand the I HATE YOU Easter Egg beyond its life loss sequence, alongside warping players back to Splash Hill, now in a fully-red palette like in the ROM hack version. However, due to technical errors Primal experienced while making the expansion to this Easter egg, it was cut down to just sending players to the Super Mario Canyon video after the "YOUR NEXT" message.
    • This also further applies to the "walking in a straight line" Easter Egg, which originally also had a hint connected to further reaching the video, though this hint text was removed in a patch update to avoid confusing players.

Sonic.EXE All-Stars Restarted

  • Originally, Restarted was planned to go under the name "Sonic.EXE All-Stars Plus", and would've simply been a remake of the original game. However, plans had since changed, with the planned project eventually becoming Sonic.EXE All-Stars Restarted and being separate to the classic story.
