Thugaboo, also known as The Boo Crew, was a duology of animated specials created by The Wayans Family.

These specials center on a group of neighborhood kids known as The Boo Crew, and the wacky situations they get into, as well as the lessons they learn. Think of it as having the animation style of The Proud Family, with the life lessons of Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids and the child-like snarkiness of Peanuts. The Boo Crew consists of:

  • D-Roc, the leader, an aspiring rapper, and get-rich-quick schemer extraordinaire.
  • Dee-Dee, D-Roc's loud-mouthed sister.
  • DJ, a white guy who thinks he's black.
  • Lissette, a girl who wants to be a singer.
  • Slim, a Big Eater.
  • Dirty, a filthy boy who speaks in gibberish.
  • Money, D-Roc's talking dog.
  • Gwenny, an "eco-friendly" valley girl.
  • Chad, Gwenny's brother who's always being injured.
  • Soo Young, a girl whose father has many jobs.
  • Baby Luiz, Lissette's baby brother who can talk.

The two specials consist of Sneaker Madness and A Miracle on D-Roc Street. They aired on Nicktoons in 2006, and are officially available on YouTube.

These specials contain examples of:

  • All Love Is Unrequited: Slim has an unrequited crush on Lissette, who has an unrequited crush on D-Roc.
  • Bland-Name Product: In Sneaker Madness, D-Roc wants to buy "Air Jareds."
  • Brainy Baby: Baby Luiz can talk, shave, and is in the first grade.
  • Big Eater: Slim eats all the time.
  • Braces of Orthodontic Overkill: Freddie, one of the bullies, wears braces that look like train tracks according to D-Roc.
  • The Bully: Two bullies are shown picking on Gavin for being poor.
  • Bully Hunter: D-Roc stands up for Gavin when he is being picked on.
  • Butt-Monkey: Chad is always suffering misfortune, such as getting a broken arm or falling in a trash can.
  • Catchphrase: "I'M THROUGH!" for the intercom lady whenever her shift's over.
  • Christmas Special: A Miracle on D-Roc Street is about the crew learning the true meaning of Christmas.
  • Dem Bones: "Big Kid" punches out D-Roc and makes his skeleton leave his flesh. His skeleton is shown putting his flesh back on as if it was clothes.
  • Drives Like Crazy: Due to his Mad Eye, Principal Eyeverson is a terrible driver.
  • Even Beggars Won't Choose It: In Sneaker Madness, D-Roc donates a pair of ugly sneakers to unfortunate Africans as a means to get rid of them. Turns out, they're so ugly, even they don't want them and send them right back to him.
  • The Faceless: The "Big Kid," who cuts in line in the Christmas Special has a face that is never shown.
  • God: God is shown in both specials with no face and a stereotypical black voice.
  • Greed: D-Roc is always plotting get-rich-quick schemes, and in the Christmas special, states that it's better to receive than to give. However, he learns the value of giving after giving his present to Gavin.
  • Hypocrite: Gwenny claims to care about the environment and animal rights, but litters spray cans and wears fur coats.
  • Invisible Parents: D-Roc is confirmed to have a father in the Christmas special, but is never shown on screen.
  • Ironic Name: Despite his name, Slim is overweight.
  • Made in Country X: In A Miracle on D-Roc Street, Soo Young boasts that China and Korea make all the toys for Christmas.
  • Mad Eye: The appropriately titled Principal Eyeverson has a lazy eye.
  • Mall Santa: In the Christmas Special, the crew goes to meet Santa at the mall.
  • No Celebrities Were Harmed:
    • Money's voice is modeled after DMX.
    • DJ seems to be a parody of Eminem.
    • Dirty could be viewed as a kid-friendly version of Ol’ Dirty Bastard.
  • Only Known by Initials: DJ's real name is Darren Jobeley, but he only goes by DJ when he's with his friends.
  • The Pigpen: Dirty is always, well, dirty.
  • Present Peeking: In A Miracle on D-Roc Street, D-Roc peeks at his Christmas present. After finding out that it's a G-Bot, he gives it to Gavin, who also wants one.
  • Pretty Fly for a White Guy: DJ is white, but he thinks he's black and acts like a stereotypical black person.
  • Running Gag: D-Roc getting stuck on a rhyme, and someone throwing something at him saying "It's [insert rhyme here], stupid!"
  • Santa's Existence Clause: D-Roc doesn't believe in Santa Claus, but at the end of the Christmas special, he finds out he's real when he sees his sleigh in the sky.
  • Sassy Black Woman:
    • Dee-Dee is sassy and has a loud mouth.
    • Miss Attitude, a disembodied pair of lips shown through various loudspeakers, has an attitude.
    • D-Roc and Dee-Dee's mother is always talking loudly on the phone.
  • Soapbox Sadie: Gwenny tries to be an environmental activist, but she litters and wears fur coats.
  • Speech Impediment: Slim speaks in a slurred voice.
  • Talking Animal: Money is a talking dog.
  • Tiny Tim Template: Gavin in the Christmas Special is a dirt-poor boy with raggedy clothes and a hat.
  • Token Minority: Most of the crew is black, but Lisette and Luiz are Hispanic and Soo Young is Asian. Then of course, the Token White kids are Gwenny, Chad, and DJ.
  • Valley Girl: Gwenny behaves like a valley girl.
  • Volleying Insults: D-Roc and Freddie play the dozens.
Freddie: Your head so big, I can see what you're thinking.
D-Roc: Your teeth are so spaced out, your toothbrush has to MapQuest directions to find the next tooth.
