The Bee-Bees (I Bi-Bi) is a 2006 Italian animated series of fifty-two segments aimed at preschoolers about a group of small fantastical creatures, all whose names start with the letter "B".

Four of those creatures, children named Beena, Berry, Blob, and Boo, live under a big tree and always make new discoveries. Whenever conflicts arise, it's up to Berry to call the wise sage Blue, the only adult of the creatures, who helps them to put the problem under control.

It was created by Simona Bursi, directed by Pierluigi de Mas, Gianandrea Garola and Guido Orlandi, produced by de Mas & Partners, Rai Fiction and Village Productions, and animated by Paekho Animation Film. The show was dedicated to the memory of co-director and animator Pierluigi de Mas, who passed away during production on May 7, 2005.

The show was exported to few other European countries and (reportedly) the Middle East. After years of unavailability, the show was re-released for streaming on RaiPlay in July 2020 for viewers in Italy; it was removed from the service as of next summer.

The show's distributor Global Screen has mentioned an English dub on their website. Whether it ever came to public light is unknown.

Not to be confused with The Bee Gees.

The Bee Bees provides examples of:

  • Animesque: They have a strong manga-like appearance, particularly their eye designs.
  • Alphabetical Theme Naming: The main characters, named Beena, Berry, Blob, Boo, and Blu, and collectively known as the Bee-Bees based on the show's title.
  • Blush Stickers: Most characters have blushes or line strokes that resemble blushes.
  • Cartoon Creature:
    • Beena seems to be inspired by mice, squirrels and cats.
    • Blob's main form is reminiscent of a blue dinosaur.
    • Blu has a bear-like head, with his body possibly based on an ape's.
  • Cast of Snowflakes: It would be very hard to confuse one of the characters for another, as they all have unique shapes.
  • Different in Every Episode: When Berry summons Blu, the latter is usually shown doing a recreational activity or relaxing.
    • "The Tree": Picking a fruit.
    • "A Poor Lonely Note": Sleeping on a cloud.
    • "The Kite": Holding and blowing a dandelion.
    • "The Special Star": Brushing his teeth.
    • "The Shadow": Walking a dog.
    • "Crushing Evidence": Sunbathing with a drink.
    • "The Cyclamen": Painting a rainbow.
  • The Dinnermobile: Taking inspiration from Cinderella, Berry fashions a pumpkin into a working carriage for birds in "The Enchanted Pumpkin".
  • Extendable Arms: Beena's legs can extend and give her a towering height.
  • Kissing Discretion Shot: At the end of "The Enchanted Pumpkin", the birds riding the pumpkin carriage blow out the candles inside the vehicle, making the screen pitch-black. Then, we hear a kissing sound, implied to be from the birds themselves.
  • No-Neck Chump: Boo doesn't have a visible neck, despite his body being separated into a distinguishable head and middle area. Blob, in his standard dinosaur form, doesn't have one either.
  • Pokémon Speak: Boo talks by saying his own name.
  • Prehensile Tail: One of Beena's physical features is her orange prehensile tail that grasps on objects.
  • Self-Duplication: Boo can disintegrate into smaller copies of himself.
  • Shapeshifting: Blob can transform to anything he wishes such as a car or helicopter.
  • Shapeshifter Default Form: Blob usually takes on the form of a vaguely T. rex-looking dinosaur when he isn't shapeshifted into anything else.
  • Shout-Out: The story of Cinderella factors into "The Enchanted Pumpkin", with Beena mentioning she had the story read to her one time and she's thinking of the part where a pumpkin is turned into a carriage for Cinderella.
  • Theme Tune Roll Call: The theme song names, in order, Beena, Berry, Blob, and Boo, then mentions Blu in the next line.
