Mini Wolf (Mini loup in French) is a cartoon that launched in 2012 and ran for two seasons.

Following the adventures of Mini Wolf and his friends, this is an adaptation of a 1993 series of books.

Mini Wolf is a 7-year-old wolf who has something of an inquisitive nature and his attitude sometimes gets him into trouble.

The English dub was on Netflix 2019-2020.

Tropes found in Mini Wolf:

  • Anti-Villain: Napoleon, the youngest of the Grunt Brothers, who are warthogs, is only a villain by association with his two older brothers and being Obliviously Evil in a downplayed sense; he only goes along with his brothers' schemes to avoid upsetting them and would be a Token Evil Teammate at worst, and he's been a Nice Guy at times very infrequently. If he didn't have brothers, he'd probably not be villainous at all, just The Friend Nobody Likes due to his poor social skills.
  • Artistic License – Geography: France is a huge country, but they seem to treat it as if it was one big town, and the distance between places can be huge — Paris to Alsace is a 5.12 hour drive.
  • Bratty Half-Pint: Zig-zagged. At first in Season 1 for the first few episodes it was played straight, but then he became a Mouthy Kid, and then a Cheerful Child because of Character Development
  • The Bully: The Grunt brothers are three warthog brothers who enjoy picking on the other kids, mainly Mini Wolf.
  • Character Development: In early seasons, he was selfish, dishonest, arrogant and bossy but eventually Took a Level in Kindness; most of the time he learned his lesson . He never intended to be malicious; when it was mistaken for malice, he immediately apologized.
  • Class Clown: In the first episode, this was a major plot point; he had to try and avoid being this for the sake of a bet.
  • Comic-Book Time: Mini Wolf stays 7 for the entire duration of the show, and none of the rest of the cast aged at all in the 2 seasons it ran.
  • Gasshole: Moussa the elephant has this behavior as one of his defining traits, and he's largely embarrassed over this.
  • Geographic Flexibility: The size of the town and geography will change depending on the needs of the plotline, and the actual town itself changes each episode.
  • Green Aesop: In Season 2, the episode "Recycling" tackled this topic, although in a Lighter and Softer way than many examples of this trope.
  • Mouthy Kid: As Mini Wolf's characterization grew, he went from being a Bratty Half-Pint into a snarky but well-meaning kid.
  • No Antagonist: Not for the show as a whole as the Grunt brothers were the closest thing to a villain, but there were some episodes where the conflict was a Race Against the Clock or helping a family member rather than an interpersonal conflict.
  • Princess Phase: A rare male example, in that the male characters wanted to have a go at being a princess, for the time of one episode. Played for Laughs, but also had a lesson that it's OK to enjoy girly things as a male.
  • Status Quo Is God: No matter how many times some characters seem to learn the moral of the episode, it won't stick; Mini Wolf will revert to being a slightly mischievious, but well-meaning kid.
  • The Owl-Knowing One: Mini Wolf's teacher is an owl, and a bit ditzy, but nonetheless a helpful teacher.
  • Two Decades Behind: If cars are seen, they're often iconic 1960s/1970s French cars, such as the Peugeot 505 sedan and Renault 5 hatchback; both are now rare sights on French roads.
  • Two-Teacher School: Mini Wolf's school only ever seems to have the owl as the teacher, and no-one else; if there are any other teachers, they're off-screen.
  • Villainy-Free Villain: The three warthog brothers, the Grunt Brothers, aren't evil, more like huge bullies who try and make Mini Wolf's life a living hell.
  • Where the Hell Is Springfield?: The town is never given a name.
