Lupin is a young wolf who has descended from a family of evil wolves of ancient lineage, and is destined to become a big bad wolf when he grows up. But he disagrees; he actually dreams of being like the storybook heroes he admires.

Lupin's Tales is a French-Italian-Chinese animated Preschool Show that was created by Nicolas Le Nevé and Laura Miller. Produced by Xilam, Youku and Maga Animation Studio, the series follows the adventures of Lupin (Kaycie Chase) as he goes from one Fairy Tale to the next to live out the adventures of these great heroes, but the impetuous wolf-cub is far from perfect, and it's not always easy to get to a "happy ending". Luckily, he can count on the narrator's help to learn from his mistakes. Lupin, refusing the future that society has chosen for him, will demonstrate that even a little wolf can become a hero like any knight or prince.

The series first premiered on Rai Yoyo in Italy on December 20, 2020 (under the title "Le storie di Lùpin"), and currently 26 episodes are available to view in Italian on RaiPlay.note  It then premiered on France 5 on February 6, 2021. The series has 78 7-minute episodes.

Absolutely nothing to do with the Lupin III franchise, the Netflix series Lupin or the Arsène Lupin books which inspired them.

Lupin's Tropes:

  • Amazing Technicolor Wildlife: Lupin is a blue-and-white wolf.
  • Artistic License – Biology: In "The Little Woodcutter and Winter's Keeper", Lupin catches a cold because he failed to dress properly for the cold weather. The writers seem to have forgotten that Lupin is a wolf. A wolf with fur.
  • The Big Bad Wolf: Canonically the one trope Lupin, a little good wolf, is trying to avert. However, this is what his family is said to be, and was meant to be his destiny.
  • The Cutie: Lupin is adorable.
  • Failed a Spot Check: Every episode opens with Lupin entering a book, yet the Narrator always fails to notice him until he starts begging to be part of the story.
  • Fractured Fairy Tale: What sets up the entire premise. Lupin is a Big Bad Wolf - or so, he's meant to be. He's actually a little good wolf, and he jumps from story to story trying to prove it.
    • Derailed Fairy Tale: Lupin replaces a character in the tale and often takes it in an erratic direction by showing off or goofing around, usually with the Narrator worriedly trying to get the story back on track.
  • Medium Blending: 2D animated characters in 3D pop-up book backgrounds.
  • Puppy-Dog Eyes: Lupin whenever he's begging the Narrator to insert him into a story.
  • Screw Destiny: Lupin's destiny is to be a Big Bad Wolf like the rest of his family. However he doesn't agree with this, and decides to prove that he's a good wolf instead.
