The skeletons are really out of the closet now.

Unexpected Guests is an ongoing fanmade webcomic by undertalethingems. It's based on Undertale and takes place after the game's True Pacifist ending, with Frisk and the monsters living on the surface. One day Papyrus messes up his special attack, and rather than just conjuring a Gaster Blaster, ends up making a large skeletal dragon. Shenanigans ensue as it doesn't go away; but there's far more to this incident than it initially seems.

The story mainly focuses on Papyrus, Sans and Frisk getting used to their new, well, unexpected guests.

There are several dubs across YouTube, but the most popular was the version made by Calysto. Unfortunately it seems to have been abandoned.

Warning: Unmarked Undertale Spoilers below.

Provides examples of:

  • All Animals Are Dogs: The blasters have some canine-like behaviour, though Sans's sometimes acts more catlike. Even chasing a laser pointer and getting frustrated like a kitty.
  • Bad with the Bone: A very pure example as the blasters are literally attacks come to life.
  • Curiosity Killed the Cast: Gaster in particular, as his time travel research ended up erasing him from reality and everyone's memories. Sans warns the others against being too curious for their own good.
  • Curse Cut Short: Due to Frisk being present, Undyne does this when she first sees Sans's blaster.
Undyne: HOLY SH- (slaps hands over mouth)
  • Expressive Skull: The blasters don't talk, so their emotions are conveyed through facial expressions.
  • Friendly Skeleton: Sans and Papyrus, obviously, but their attacks are this too. Papyrus's in particular just wants to play and basically be a Big Friendly Dog.
  • I Never Said It Was Poison: When Flowey is trying to rile up Sans to get the truth out of him, he drops the word "Karma". Later in the conversation Sans points out that he never said what his abilities are actually named while glaring at Flowey and asks him how he knew that. Flowey's reaction is an Oh, Crap!.
  • Internal Reveal: Sans is forced to tell everything about Gaster and the Anomaly after Flowey finally pushes his Berserk Button and he lashes out at him. As a result Frisk is also forced to reveal their time-travelling abilities.
  • It's All My Fault: Papyrus blames himself for Gaster's death as he was the engineer and mechanics guy behind the CORE. He hides this by pretending he doesn't remember the incident.
  • Little Big Brother: Just like the skelebros themselves, Sans's blaster is smaller than Papyrus's.
  • Mama Bear: Toriel towards Frisk. She takes a giant, beam-spamming skeleton dragon in stride when she jumps in to protect them.
  • Mechanically Unusual Fighter: Sans' attack has the exact same damage over time and defense bypass effect that he has in the game, and also doesn't trigger the Invincibility Frames that literally every other magic In-Universe triggers. Undyne is extremely baffled by this, and it's part of the reason why she becomes so suspicious of Sans.
  • Nothing but Skulls: The blasters were originally just large skulls. Everyone is shocked when Papyrus's appears with a full body.
  • Oh, Crap!: At one point Frisk begs to ride on Papyrus's attack. Everything goes fine...until it opens its wings and starts flying. Sans and Papyrus immediately begin panicking.
  • Poor Communication Kills: Happens twice due to the skelebros not explaining about the blasters:
    • Toriel gets into a fight with Sans's blaster after they both think the other wants to hurt Frisk.
    • The blasters end up lost in a park thanks to Flowey, and Asgore is called to deal with them by the humans living nearby. This time is more serious since it could have lead to a diplomatic incident that threatened the peace between humans and monsters.]]
  • Punny Name: When trying to name Papyrus's blaster, Sans suggests a few of these:
Sans: we could always call it spike. or skully. tib-ia-rius. phil-anges. vert-ricia. rib-becca. bonejangles.
Papyrus: STOP! STOP!! NO!!! WE ARE ESPECIALLY NOT CALLING IT ANY OF THOSE!!!
  • Splash of Color: The comic is mostly monochrome but makes exceptions with characters' souls and and magic.
  • Stepping Out to React: When Undyne sees that Sans's Blaster has also turned into a dragon, she takes one look at Toriel, who is there with her child Frisk, runs off to the woods in the distance, drops an Atomic F-Bomb and runs back to demand answers.
  • Wham Shot:
    • The first time the attacks appear as their full selves rather than just floating skulls.
    • Flowey popping up on the surface in front of Frisk, showing that he left the Underground.
    • Flowey tells Frisk that he'll leave for a while. A few days later, and he shows up with Gaster.
