Godzilla Saves The Day is a Godzilla fan-webcomic by Robert Florez.

The basic premise of the comic is that Godzilla winds up in various humorous situations, usually by means of a Crossover with another franchise. You can see the comic on his DeviantArt page here.

Unfortunately, the comic has not been updated since January 2020.

This webcomic contains examples of the following:

  • Adaptational Intelligence: In canon, Godzilla was an animal. Here, he's sapient enough to read, write, and fill out tax forms.
  • Ash Face: Happens to Godzilla in the How to Train Your Dragon (2010) crossover episode, when he fires his Atomic Breath down the Dragon's throat.
  • Attack the Mouth: Godzilla performs this on the Red Death in the How to Train Your Dragon (2010) crossover episode.
Godzilla (charging up his Atomic Breath): Alright, now here's a little trick I've been wanting to try out for some time now...
Hiccup: NO WAIT!! DRAGONS ARE HIGHLY—
    [massive explosion]
    Hiccup: ...Flammable.
Godzilla (covered in ash and next to the Red Death's skeleton): I hate Dragons.
  • Batman Can Breathe in Space: Godzilla can breathe in space in the Star Wars crossovers.
  • Behemoth Battle: Par for the course for a Godzilla fan-comic. In settings with indigenous kaiju, he gets into a battle with them. In settings that don't, he might fight his usual Rogue's Gallery (Gigan, King Ghidorah, etc.) instead.
  • Breath Weapon: Godzilla's canon Atomic Breath is frequently used for the punchline of a joke.
  • The Cameo: Aside from Godzilla himself, Anguirus, Mothra, King Ghidorah, Gigan, and Zilla have all cameoed in at least one strip each.
  • Crossover: The bread and butter of the comic is Godzilla doing crossovers with various other franchises, often causing chaos just by beint there.
  • Dead Fic: Hasn't been updated since January 2020.
  • Death by Adaptation: The punchline to the The Hunger Games crossover strip has Katniss and Peeta get flash-fried by Godzilla's atomic breath.
  • Friendly Enemy: Godzilla and Gigan are affable enough with each other that, after Godzilla blows Gigan's head off, Godzilla offers to take Gigan to the repair shop.
  • In the Style of: The The Terminator "crossover" was actually a parody, with Mechagodzilla in the role of the T-800 and Mothra in the role of Sarah Connor.
  • Kaiju: Not just Godzilla, but also any Kaiju in whatever setting he's crossing over with at the moment.
  • Leitmotif: The Jaws crossover has both the Shark and Godzilla's leitmotifs delivered via Un Sound Effect.
  • Musicalis Interruptus: The Frozen (2013) crossover has "Let It Go" interrupted by a fight between Godzilla and Gigan, the two Kaiju oblivious to the Disney Princess standing nearby.
  • Mythology Gag: Godzilla's fights with Gigan and King Ghidorah both happen in icy terrain.
  • Negative Continuity: Being a gag-a-day type series, there is no continuity between strips.
  • Not Me This Time: Godzilla's remark upon watching the events of Die Hard while sitting in front of the Nakatomi tower.
Godzilla: Wow... "I didn't even touch that one!"
  • Official Fan-Submitted Content: The artist's Patreon commissioners were allowed to choose which crossover Godzilla went into next. The corresponding Patreon or DeviantArt comment would be featured at the top of the strip.
  • Offscreen Moment of Awesome: Godzilla and Zilla catching and killing the Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man. We don't see the actual fight, only the aftermath.
  • Oh, Crap!: It's a Running Gag that Godzilla's mere presence tends to cause this reaction.
  • Paper-Thin Disguise: The Fifty Shades of Grey crossover episode has Godzilla's "disguise" be to simply hold up a sign saying "Ana" and ask for parking validation. Christian Grey still falls for it.
Christian Grey: I am going to fuck that.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: A Running Gag involving Godzilla doing a Crossover involves the locals reacting this way.
  • Super-Deformed: The artist's normal drawing style gives a somewhat Chibified Godzilla (see the page image for an example), but he can also give a more realistic drawing style as well. Averted for humans, whom he always draws more realistically.
  • What Year Is This?: Godzilla says this so often that it's practically his Catchphrase in this strip.
