Ask Mattwo is a picture blog/webcomic that shows the going-ons in Mattwo's universe. There are usually a lot of crossover hijinks going on, typically including characters and Original Characters from My Little Pony Friendship Is Magic and Team Fortress 2, but can also range from Nintendo characters to ones from more obscure things like characters from SD Gundam Force and Kamen Rider. In spite of being a Character Blog, it does not always focus on Mattwo. The blog can be found here
. It is also host to several videos Mattwo's storywriter created, including Mattwo's Random Reviews and MikuMikuDance videos.
This webcomic provides examples of:
- Canon Immigrant / Demoted to Extra: After Ask Eeevee Doc was shut down, Eveedoc and his characters were moved back to this blog, where Eevee Doc had originated from.
- The characters of the short-lived gmodredvsblue blog had a similar fate.
- Ultimately, all the spinoff blogs were merged back into this one, demoting all of them back to extra and secondary. Wing Ace once again taking up a considerable amount of the spotlight.
- The Cameo: Usually subject to Author Appeal or bandwagon hopping, but sometimes askers and friends appear as well. When the cameo character has no model in gmod, this is usually done either by 2D image pasted into gmod, a stand-in model, or a reskin.
- Caustic Critic: Mattwo has been seen tossing an Xbox One into the ocean and an ask into a trash can, the later of which came with a rather nasty metaphor made in response to "scootaloo is a chicken" jokes from Mattwo's storywriter.
- Crossover/Crisis Crossover/Intra-Franchise Crossover: Outside of cameos, there was the Vocational Death Cruise which was retconned into being part of the Ask The Ace Wings blog instead and the short-lived "Gmod Box". Also most characters come from various franchises.
- Ensemble Cast: Mattwo's not the most interesting character, so the focus will often go to other characters in his universe.
- Inconsistent Coloring: The Ace Wings would suffer from this until Cloud Ace got his own reskin.
- Incredibly Lame Pun: Usually involves a Pun Pony cameo.
- Political Cartoons: Being highly opinionated, Mattwo's storywriter has posted one or two political comics on this blog.
- Red Skies Crossover: As with other pony-related askblogs, a reference to the climax of Ask King Sombra was posted with Mattwo lampshading that he wasn't in the same universe.
- Shout-Out / Reference Overdosed: As with most of Mattwo's storywriter's works.
- Spotlight-Stealing Squad: The Ace Wings, mostly Wing Ace, when they didn't have their own spinoff blog and after it was shut down. To be fair though, The Mats aren't exactly the easiest characters to write for, though it doesn't help that they rarely ever got asks, let alone ones that helped develop their character and the blog was never really meant to be for just Mattwo.
