Ask The Ace Wings was a spinoff of Ask Mattwo that started off as a sub-blog of Ask Mattwo as a result of Wing Ace hogging the spotlight, before being put on another account with the original blog being rebranded to Ace Wings Archives. The blog has ultimately been discontinued in favor of featuring the characters in Ask Mattwo again due to creator burnout.
Tropes, have aaaaaariiiiiiiiveeeed!
- Affectionate Parody: The Ace Wings and Ace Brigade are this to Super Sentai and Kamen Rider. In particular, the Go-On Wings from Engine Sentai Go-onger, the Goraigers from Ninpuu Sentai Hurricaneger, J.A.K.Q. Dengekitai, Kamen Rider Blade, Kamen Rider Den-O (in Wing Ace's case as he takes quite a bit after Momotaros) and a hint of the card suit themed characters from Mega Man Star Force 3. Their backstory even includes a The Dragon with a joker motif and a Big Bad with a king motif, though this was not an intentional reference, nor was the use the villains' names containing two words with a card motif in spite of this not being part of the naming trope in Super Sentai as it was instead meant to fit the naming trope of My Little Pony.
- Catchphrase / In the Name of the Moon / "Super Sentai" Stance: As to be expected of a Sentai Parody. Similar to the Go-On Wings and Goraigers, the Ace Wings have their own roll call, which is later seen as part of the full Ace Brigade Roll Call. They also summon their personal weapons while naming them in an over the top manner similar to Super Sentai. Though in presentation, it's more similar to when characters announce their designations in a Super Sentai roll call, complete with color coded speed-line backgrounds than when they summon their personal weapons.
- Colour-Coded for Your Convenience: The core team of Ace Brigade members follow this trope, as well as the Daleks named after Omega Supreme, Soundwave and Shockwave, Rumble and Frenzy, though Dalek Omega was incorrectly white before being destroyed.
- Crossover: happens often with other characters in Mattwo's universe, including a crossover arc with Doctor Twooves.
- Continuity Nod: Sort of. Wing Ace's wings were always intended to be his personal weapon with the combined weapon finisher being him getting launched as sort of seen in the final part of his Vocational Death Cruise story arc where his personal weapon was instead wing armor that was never seen again and the Oblivion Machine was finished off with a combo attack that involved him being launched. This finisher would later be seen properly in the Doctor Twooves crossover, with Wing Ace lampshading how lame it was that his wings on their own was his weapon. The finishing attack combining all but Barrier Ace's weapons while Barrier Ace instead made a barrier around Wing Ace while he was shot out of a giant familiar looking slingshot instead of using a giant robot, much to Wing Ace's dismay. This was somehow powerful enough to destroy a giant dalek who was specifically named after Omega Supreme.
- Before the two blogs crossed over, the Doctor Whooves of Doctor Twooves was previously part of a canonically dubious roll call involving the Ace Wings, Matone, Mattwo and a version of Discord Hooves.
- Curb-Stomp Battle: Dalek Omega was summoned and summarily destroyed before even doing anything.
- Demoted to Extra: Sort of, while the blog was merged back into Ask Mattwo, Wing Ace went right back to hogging the spotlight.
- Inconsistent Coloring: Dalek Omega was orange as part of the reference to Omega Supreme but right before he was destroyed, he was white.
- Put on a Bus: Daleks Wave, Rumble and Frenzy vanished randomly and were never seen again. They were supposed to have transmatted away but this was never seen.
- Red Skies Crossover: One was planned for the Vocational Death Cruise where Cloud Ace would become female at the same time Wing Ace did and the the Wildcard Jokers would de-merge from him and Cloud Ace.
- Shout-Out / Reference Overdosed: As with all of Mattwo's works. Primarially to Super Sentai and Kamen Rider
- All of the Ace Brigade's weapons aside from Wing Ace's and Barrier Ace's are actually repurposed weapons from various video games. The Ace Hammer is Hammer Kirby's hammer and when used as part of the finishing move, turns into the Grand Hammer from Kirby's super ability, the Ace Wrench and Ace Bow are the Eureka Effect and Huntsman from Team Fortress 2, while the Ace Sword is the Master Sword. The Ace Slingshot used for the finisher is a giant version of the slingshot from Angry Birds.
