STUPID!
Skippy Shorts is a... unique puppet–based YouTube channel run by NearFar Productions. It stars an insane puppet named Skippy (voiced by Greg Harrisberg), who mainly retells classic stories in his own "style" and answers e-mail questions, along with an ensemble of other crazy puppets, including his best friend Finney (voiced by Jack Rennon), a weird white animal, a trigger-happy cop called the Cop and his friend Iggy Iguana, a senile sociopath named Rufus T., a magical wizard and his apprentice, and many, many others. Almost every video ends with Skippy yelling, "STUPID!", which perfectly sums up the channel's whole style and tone. The channel can be seen here.

There is also a second channel called skippythe2nd. It can be seen here.

Tropes seen in their videos:

  • Abhorrent Admirer: The Old Lady who wants to be a disgusted Skippy's girlfriend. He reacts by killing her.
  • Aborted Arc: "Ask Skippy #13" ends on a cliffhanger of Skippy being arrested. Nothing comes of it and the lack of closure on it has become a Running Gag.
Groggle: I like the silent shorts! (gets punched in the face)
Jack Rennon: WE ONLY MADE ONE OF THOSE!
  • ...And 99˘: Taken to the extreme with the "Being Just Like Skippy Kit" in "Ask Skippy #14," where Finney mentions the "reasonably low price" - $99999999999999999.02
The Cop: A deal like that should be...illegal!
  • Ax-Crazy: Hillary Clinton, who will send her Midget Minions to kill you if you don't vote for her. Also Rufus, who threatened to kill the viewer's grandma if they didn't go see the characters at the 2010 Beverly Hills Film Festival.
  • Bad Cop/Incompetent Cop: Oh, yeah.
  • Bait-and-Switch: Skippy's review of The Trevor and Officer Harry Show in "Ask Skippy #17." He says he'll need one word and everyone (including an apparent child audience) assumes he'll say "STUPID!" He instead throws them a curveball and says, "Salamander!"
    • Episode 2 of "The Andy Cougerman Show" - where Andy and Mr. Sandwich sing "Without You." As it turns out, Mr. Sandwich doesn't love Andy, he's trying to kill him!
  • Berserk Button: Don't make fun of the Cop's mother (or call attention to her mustache).
  • Blatant Lies: "That's cheap!". Also saying that "Clawverbro" is a common name.
  • Bread, Eggs, Breaded Eggs: In "Ask Finny #2," Finney claims he pleases the ladies by buying them chocolates, flowers and chocolate flowers.
  • Cartoon Creature: Finney.
  • Catch-Phrase: "STUPID!", "The other day, a guy / girl wrote me...", "YAY!!!", "YEAH!", "I'll be your (enter text here)!".
  • Caustic Critic: Rufus.
  • The Chew Toy: Andy Cougerman. He explodes in every one of his appearances.
  • Christmas Carol: See
  • Cloud Cuckoolander: Nancy the Talking Movie Review Bird, and Finney
    • Nearly everyone qualifies.
  • Completely Missing the Point: A video about Clay Aiken's coming out. Finney doesn't react to the news well, wanting his musicians to be sad and depressed and not "gay."
  • Creator Cameo: The two puppeteers often play whatever live-action, human roles there are in the videos.
  • Depraved Kids' Show Host: Kappy Koala.
  • The Ditz: Nancy.
  • Drop-In Character: Spoofed in The Trevor and Officer Harry Show in "Ask Skippy #17" with Clarence, who walks into the character's house through their pantry.
Clarence: Like, hey, guys! Can I borrow your mayonnaise? (crowd goes wild)
  • Every Episode Ending: Again, "STUPID!"
  • Fractured Fairy Tale: Many of Skippy's retellings are outright wrong.
  • Gonk: The Old Lady.
  • Hand Puppet
  • Humanity Ensues: As seen in "Human Skippy!".
  • I Just Shot Marvin in the Face: The Cop.
  • Iron Butt Monkey: The Old Lady, whose advances on Skippy and others are met with shootings, beatings, maulings and spearings. She's always fine the next time she's seen.
  • Jerkass: Skippy, The Cop (sometimes), Iggy (sometimes), and Rufus.
  • Long List: Employed in a number of videos:
    • "Ask Skippy #14" is mainly a list of all the random, ridiculous items in Skippy's "Being Just Like Skippy Kit."
    • "Ask Skippy #20" consists of the characters listing off every instance they know of the word "clawverbro."
    • An unpublished video shows Finney trying to get into a Skippy Shorts party and spends nearly 30 seconds rattling off words he thinks are the password (which is "stupid").
    • A video lists a bunch of random citizens George W. Bush claims to know.
  • Kill the Poor: In the Christmas Carol video, Rufus T., as Scrooge, outright says this.
  • Killed Mid-Sentence: Dark Anne Cestor and Tiny Tim.
  • Leitmotif: The Old Lady's appearances are scored by the same, creepy music.
  • Monster Clown: Brittany, the Crazy Clown.
  • No Fourth Wall: Skippy and others are well aware that they're puppets.
  • No Indoor Voice: Virtually every character shouts their dialogue at all times.
  • Non-Human Sidekick: Iggy.
  • Noodle Implements: The Wizard's Nanny Foo-Foo made his green shirt out of the bones of an epileptic leprechaun!
    • The items found in the "Being Just Like Skippy Kit," such as a gas mask, a bundle of dancing red roses, a George W. Bush mask, a duck and a ham sandwich.
  • Rapid-Fire Comedy: AND HOW!
  • Recycled In Space: Skippy tells the story of Aladdin...IN SPACE!
  • Rhymes on a Dime: The Rhyming Bush!
  • Robe and Wizard Hat: The Wizard.
  • Shock and Awe: Skippy's horrible electricity–shocking powers, as seen in "Ask Skippy #21 - Resolutions."
  • Shout-Out: The videos make frequent use of music, pictures, video clips, audio clips and sound effects from other, well-known sources. Sounds from Monty Python and the Holy Grail are used quite often.
  • Sliding Scale of Silliness vs. Seriousness: On the far end of the silly side.
  • Stupid Statement Dance Mix: "Have have you ever been like in like YEAH!"
  • Take That!: Several videos (of the "DUM NEWS" branding) paint certain celebrities and especially politicians in a very negative light, often reducing them to blubbering messes.
    • If Chelsea Clinton is name-dropped, it's usually a joke about her appearance.
  • Thanksgiving Episode: Where Skippy yells at all his friends for not being thankful for him.
  • Very Special Episode: Parodied in "Ask Skippy #17" with The Trevor and Officer Harry Show, where the valuable lesson they learn is to keep their pantry door locked to prevent comic relief Clarence from breaking into their house. Complete with music cue from Full House.
  • World of Ham
