Playing God in The Sims, or as it's also known, The Bob Family Household, is a four part YouTube series by streamer RT Game about a The Sims family, started in mid-2018. Contrary to the name, the house in the series has two families in it, the Margaret family and the Bob family.

Not to be confused with the The Sims 4 reboot.

Playing God in The Sims consists of the following tropes:

  • Accidental Athlete: Ross Bob, especially considering he was set up to have two days to live.
  • Anyone Can Die: Everyone in the family died, except for the pets and Boinky Bob.
  • Back for the Finale: Boinky Bob in the final episode, although it doesn't make the ending any happier.
  • Bizarrchitecture: The first house was missing a wall and was not fully covered by the roof. The second house had a wall covered in windows, and is basically a very cramped hallway. Let's not forget that the second house was RT Game's idea of "minimalistic".
  • Character Focus: Ross Bob can easily be considered the main character of the series.
  • Crapsack World: Surprisingly not nearly as prevalent as one might expect for a Sims series, but still noticeable.
    • Especially the fact that everyone has 40 days to live.
  • Downer Ending
  • Early-Installment Weirdness: The first episode. The family lives in a completely different (not to mention much more comfortable, although not by a long shot) home, before the game crashes. RT Game just decided to build a new house and completely reset the game, instead of repeating all progress since that point.
  • Everybody's Dead, Dave: The neighbors aren't exactly programmed to live in 40 days. You can guess what happens next.
  • Sadness Retardant: In the first death RT Game watches Ross Bob die... and then promptly places his "Horrifying Quality" Mac n' Cheese next to his grave. "It's what he would have wanted."
  • Meaningful Name: NotEpona Bob, who as you may have guessed, is not a pony.
    • Subverted with Ross Bob, whose paintings have been compared to crayon scribbles. At least he tried.
  • Oh, Crap!: RT Game, after realizing all the effects of his age setup. Especially when he realizes that Ross Bob is the only adult in the beginning.
  • Out-of-Character Moment: When Ross Bob abandons Afraid Bob at the beach (a cat, mind you)
  • Out of Focus: The neighbors.
    • Especially Sandy from the third video. They're one of Bob Bob's (two) classmates, and they're the only character not in the Bob or Margaret family that had their name specifically pointed out by RT Game
  • Repetitive Name: Bob Bob and Barbara Barbara.
  • Shout-Out: Waluigi.
  • They Killed Kenny Again: Ross Bob could be considered this, dying almost once per episode.
