Tropes

  • April Fools' Day: For April Fools 2021, a Classic version of Bashbots was produced, consisting of 4 fights from each weightclass with the episode ending with both bots, and the entire arena, getting set on fire.
  • Bland-Name Product: An advert for the Bashbots toyline shows that they're produced by the appropriately named "Octagonal Insects", which is a parody of the Hexbug toys that also distributed Battlebots and Robot Wars robots.
  • Butt-Monkey:
    • Hondatron made by Team A.R.T. currently holds the record for the worst win/loss ratio of 1-6, being often put up against spinners and getting demolished in most fights.
    • SolaR also has a fairly similar record, having gone 2-8 across 4 seasons and often losing to Sploodle by getting ripped apart.
  • Crossover: BattleBots competitors HUGE and Rampage both make an appearance with the original roboteers driving them during Season 4. Other competitors also originated from other games such as Hospice from Besiege, Avalanche from Robot Rumble 2, Kumicho from Roblox and Claymore from Robot Arena 2.
  • Critical Existence Failure : In order for the bots to show damage, an add on known as Extended Prop Damage is used to show damage being received. If the chassis on the bot sustains enough damage, the bot may end up completely obliterated like Hospice getting completely destroyed by Cosmo.
  • Dark Horse Victory:
    • Gumdrops beating Tranquiliser by ripping the weapon off and flipping it over.
    • Hondatron, during Season 3's redemption rumbles, beating Wave Ripper and Aggronawt to gain its first win, despite losing its flipper to Wave Ripper.
    • Chromemonster OOTAing the then-reigning champion Sparks in Season 2.
    • Migronic coming back to life at the last minute to finish off Sparks after it already took a lot of damage in Season 2.
  • Deadpan Snarker: The announcer, Wallace Breen voiced by Electric Star. Various examples include:
It's only slightly more mechanically impossible than before, it's Amethyst! (Season 4)
    It's bad. It's Cosmo. (Season 3)
  • Fast-Forward Gag: Both interviews with the builder of Jade (Hobo Drew) explaining his strategy during their fights are sped up due to each of them taking a long time.
  • Fun with Acronyms: Both IROD and EROD, created by Yugitom stand for Infant Rollercoaster of Death and Equine Rollercoaster of Death respectively.
  • Overly Long Name: Waluigi Hat, whose full name is New Super Waluigi Time Machine Revengeance 4 Deluxe Definitive Edition, something which was lampshaded by the announcer in Season 3.
  • Shout-Out: A couple of bots are named and themed after other media, such as Tricky, Agent P and Fluttershy and Flutterdash.
  • Precision F-Strike: Thunderwave's strategy against Cosmo in Season 2: "Fuck em."
  • Trash the Set: During Cosmo VS HUGE in Season 4, HUGE manages to get a good hit on Cosmo, sending it into the ceiling's lights, and causing them to crash down on the arena. The resulting blow manages to knock Cosmo out and go up in flames. Played for Laughs because the damage was easily replaceable due to the production being made in Garry's Mod, and not costing a lot to replace.
TheDominusIgnus: And the arena lights that (Cosmo) destroyed? Well... we can just spawn some new ones in.
