The Super Dinosaurs is a DeviantArt original series by user Artapon, featuring well, superpowered dinosaurs. The series follows Rex, a Tyrannosaurus rex, and his other dinosaurian henchmen as they defeat the evil forces of the Every Villain Is Lemons (E.V.I.L.) organization.

This work provides examples of:

  • A.I. Is a Crapshoot: Subverted. Though some one the dinosaurs can transform into robots, every one from the E.V.I.L. organization is a robot.
  • Amazing Technicolor Wildlife: Most of the dinosaurs have colorful bodies.
  • Animesque: The robot forms of Dolichorhynchops, Huabeisaurus and Atopodentatus. Given, they're inspired by Neptunia.
  • Balloon Belly: Therizinosaurus and Deinocheirus.
  • Barefoot Cartoon Animal
  • The Cameo: Faded images of mythical creatures appear in the backgrounds of the Legendary creatures' profiles.
  • Character Signature Song: A fan of the series has created a list of songs that he thinks fits with the 12 main factions of dinosaurs.
  • Civilized Animal
  • Early-Bird Cameo: Sometimes an animal will be mentioned before its official profile is revealed. This has been used in the past to determine that Nundasuchus and Charonosaurus will appear.
  • Elemental Rock-Paper-Scissors: Each element has its own strengths and weaknesses.
  • Fantastic Racism: Based on its classification, an animal is assigned to one of 12 elements: Fire, Electric, Earth, Fighter, Water, Sky, Ice, Plant, Yin and Yang, Somic, Plasma and Gravity.
  • Father Neptune: The Sauroposeidon. It's even named Poseidon.
  • Feathered Fiend: The raptors, which are properly feathered. Albertosaurus, Gorgosaurus, Yutyrannus and Dilong all have feathers, and so are the non-coelurosaurian Concavenator and Condorraptor.
  • Fun with Acronyms: The Every Villain Is Lemons organization. When shortened, the name reads as "evil".
  • Honorable Elephant: Woolly mammoths, mastodons, Platybelodon, Anacus, Palaeoloxodon (three species in fact!), Stegodon and the obscure Zygolophodon appear.
  • Instant Awesome: Just Add Mecha!:
    • The leader and people of each element can merge into one giant "Megazord".
    • The CPU animals can transform into Animesque robots.
  • Killer Gorilla: The Gigantopithecus. It even has the power of King Kong.
  • The Marvelous Deer: The Megaloceros appears.
  • Mythology Gag: Egyptian Carcharodontosaurus has the power of Ra, an Egyptian god, and Sauroposeidon has the power of Poseidon, a Greek god.
  • Naming Conventions:
    • Most of the characters' names are shortened forms of their species' names. Additionally, all the Mega creatures have the prefix "-mega" in their species name (ex. Megalosaurus, Megaraptor, Megalodon etc.)
    • Other non-Mega creatures have this too, such as Supersaurus being in the Super rank, and Aerotitan and Titanoceratops in the Titan rank.
  • Never Smile at a Crocodile: Sarcosuchus, Metriorhynchus, Mahajangasuchus and the obscure Sunosuchus appear. Several stem-crocodiles (basal Archosauria) also appear in the Sonic tribe.
  • Panthera Awesome: Smilodon, Thylacosmilus, Megistotherium and Thylacoleo. A real member of the genus Panthera, the American lion (P. (l) atrox) also appears.
  • Power Levels: The Mega, Supreme and even Spirit ranks tend to be highly OP.
  • Predators Are Mean: Many theropod dinosaurs are shown as ruthless carnivores.
  • Predatory Business: The Every Villain Is Lemons (E.V.I.L.) organization.
  • Raptor Attack: Averted. The raptors have the correct amount of feathers, and Microraptor is the correct color.
  • Rhino Rampage: Elasmotheium and its obscure cousin, Sinotherium, appear. There's also the giant rhino relative Paraceratherium (refered to as "Indricotherium")
  • Rodents of Unusual Size: Castoroides the Giant Beaver makes an appearance.
  • Rule of Cool: Depending on their element, the dinosaurs can either shoot fireballs, lightning bolts, snowballs and more.
  • Savage Wolves: The Dire Wolf makes an appearance. It's also part of the super-powered Spirit rank.
  • Shout-Out:
    • The Fortress creatures' robot modes are based on characters from Team Fortress 2.
      • With the exception of Triadobatrachus and Sahaliyania, which is based on Star Wars. Ironically, Xenokeryx amidalae, which itself was named after Princess Amidala, doesn't have Star Wars powers.
    • Zygolophodon's color is based on the Pokémon Zygarde.
    • The robot from of Teleocrater is a reference to Doctor Who and the Sonic Screwdriver.
    • The inclusion of Nundasuchus, Umoonasaurus, Bonitasaura and Labyrinthodon appears to be inspired by Jurassic World: The Game.
    • Several of the Plasma Dinosaurs were inspired by the toy line of the same name by Mega Blok.
    • Alioramus - Tyrannogon
    • Edaphosaurus - Sailslice
    • Lexovisaurus - Goliahide
    • Neovenator - Raptillion
    • Pinacosaurus - Ramtail
    • Tapuiasaurus - Razorneck
    • Sinoceratops - Gnawhorn
    • Albertaceratops - Triceradar
      • Note that the species names have changed, this is because the species represented by the toys have already been used in the series.
    • The entire Sonic tribe
  • Shown Their Work:
    • Aside from the long list of obscure species above, there are also interesting things to note, namely:
    • Spinosaurus being able to walk and swim.
    • Many mnairaptorans have feathers attaching to their second finger.
    • Carnotaurus being portrayed with armor.
    • The aforementioned long plams on pterosaurs.
      • While we're on it, the Nyctosaurus has no fingers at all.
  • Supreme Chef: Allo the Allosaurus. Apparently, he sometimes cooks his own poop and shapes it into dinosaur-shapes.
  • Talking Animal: Some of the Super Dinosaurs can speak English.
  • Threatening Sharks: Megalodon and Hybodus appear. That's until you realize that the former is on the superpowered Mega rank.
  • Unexplained Accent:
    • El Pelicano, the Pelecanimimus, has a Spanish accent.
    • Another ornithomimid, Ornitho the Ornithomimus, has a Colorado accent, despite some fossils being found in Alberta, Canada.
