In 2021, Tumblr user slashkid would make a humorous textpost mocking the way fans of Minecraft YouTubers would derail posts to talk about MCYT characters. Unbeknownst to them at the time, this post would end up spawning an expansive memetic fanon of its own, as MCYT fans were actually quite amused by the post.
Penis SMP is a satire of the Dream SMP, and the genre of Minecraft roleplay in general, deriving its humor mainly from the juxtaposition of bizarre and raunchy character names with dark, dramatic subject matter. The most commonly involved characters in posts about the "SMP" include the ones from the original post (Shittyfartbaby69 and Penisunavailable), as well as others created by the memetic fandom, like Milfboss, Catboycrisis, Cumshits and Turbothruster.
The meme became so widespread that the tag was trending on Tumblr, and Polygon even published an article about it

Penis SMP contains examples of:
- Action Girl: One of the most universally accepted character traits is that Milfboss is always a girlboss.
- Affectionate Parody: While the original post was anything but friendly, the memetic fan-made canon is an affectionate send-up to the silliness of Minecraft roleplay.
- Band Episode: Penis, Cr1nge and Gay form a rap group, but after Penis and Gay bicker over who the lead singer is, Penis gets so irritated that he leaves the band.
- Bathos: Penis SMP is practically built on this, deriving its humor from juxtaposing inherently silly characters in oddly dramatic situations.
- Captain Ersatz: The character Realsonic is a blue hedgehog with red shoes — the only difference being that Realsonic resembles an actual hedgehog.
- Childhood Friends: Shitty, Penis and Milfboss have known each other since childhood.
- Child Soldiers: Penis and Shitty send children into combat during the Anus Ravine War. One of these children is Milfboss's, who is jusifiably furious.
- Euphemistic Names: This is the primary joke of the "server", with characters such as Turbothruster.
- The Exile: Milfboss sends Child away during the Anus Ravine War in order to protect em.
- Murder the Hypotenuse: Pisskiss was in love with Milfboss, who was dating Admiral. Because of her jealousy and bitterness over this, she blows up their cottage.
- Le Parkour: Deconstructed; during the Anus Ravine War, Overlordcummy attempts to parkour over the ravine to help Admiral, but fails, plummeting to his death.
- Satire: The original post was created by someone who very much disliked the MCYT fandom and wanted to ridicule them. While it kept its satirical flavor, it morphed into an Affectionate Parody after being claimed by the very fans it was mocking.

- Bukkake's skin is a Steve wearing a Zero Two cosplay.
- Cumguzzler's skin is Tohru from Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid.
- Gaymer's skin is Sasuke.
- Shitstained's skin is Inaba from Touhou Project.
- We Used to Be Friends: In many portrayals, Shitty and Penis used to be friends before they became enemies.
