The Adventures of Coach is a series made in Garry's Mod created by Dizztah, featuring Coach of Left 4 Dead 2 fame as it's main protagonist, living a seemingly normal life alongside his Heterosexual Life-Partners Vin Diesel (yes, that Vin Diesel), and in later episodes Shaun the Hello Guy enters the main cast, featuring the colorful casts of Survivors and Special Infected from Left 4 Dead, the mercenearies of Team Fortress 2. In this definitely normal and not insane world, Coach and co. gets to face the ever-so-increasing problems around the neighborhood. In short, it's your typical Garry's Mod widget series with it's own brand of Surreal Humor that didn't go anywhere, because it's simply fun.
Along with other notable series such as The Gmod Idiot Box and Elliot Goes To School, The Adventures Of Coach is one of the oldest serialized Garry's Mod machinima series, dating way back from 2009 (as that was the time when Left 4 Dead 2 models would start being ported to be compatible with Garry's Mod, and Youtube still has the gold subscribe button) up until 2012, spanning over 8 episodes and a Christmas Special simply titled "Vin Diesel Christmas". Though it's not as universally popular as their brethen, the show managed to gain a cult following even to this day, thanks to many part of the early Youtube userbase watching this show as a part of their childhood.

. Dizztah himself confirms that he's currently working for the 9th episode, which is constantly updated on his Twitter feed up until 2016, where it's activity halted indefinitely. However, he (or his family member) himself confirms in his Facebook page that he's on a lengthy coma that he may not be able to wake up until 2024, indefinitely halting the series.
The Adventures of Coach provides examples of:
- Adaptational Badass: As far as we know, Coach is the de facto leader of the 2nd game survivor and not a goddamn powerful combatant with extended physical capabilities and the ability to turn into a giant disembodied head of himself attached to a gigantic cheeseburger. Ditto with Louis, but replace "cheeseburger" with "pain pills", as seen in Episode 6.
- Similarly, Vin Diesel is an even bigger badass action hero than what he's been portrayed in his movies, capable of throwing people off the planet, mowing down an army of Postal Dudes, and many more. On the other hand...
- As seen in "The Trip", Shaun is capable of easily infiltrating a military base and stole a helicopter to rescue Coach off a remote island, a feat that the real Shaun would probably take more time to do if he ever could in the first place.
- Adaptational Dumbass: Vin Diesel is known to be quite a Guile Hero in his films. Here? He would occasionally commit something stupid, like trying to fight a Tank head on in a fistfight, despite wielding a lumberjack axe beforehand, with predictable result.
- Adaptational Intelligence: The infected are mostly known to be completely relying on their killing instinct. Here, they were able to plan the group's demise in "Coach Goes Camping" and managed to take out everyone but Francis, Vin, and Coach.
- Adaptational Jerkass: Several characters are generally more unpleasant than their original counterpart.
- Coach probably takes the cake here. In his home series, Coach is a Big Fun all time Nice Guy and the leading pack of the 2nd game survivors. Here? He's a selfish, food grubbing jerkass who prioritizes himself most of the time if not for his Heterosexual Life-Partners Vin and Shaun.
- Similarly, Bill's a jaded but caring war veteran and lead the 1st game survivor to safety until the bitter end. Bill here is mostly the same, except that most of his intentions are mostly malicious and he's hellbent into committing several atrocities every now and then, as seen in "Cheeseburger Apocalypse".
- Vin Diesel is seen to be more coldhearted and psychotic in this series as he seemingly killing people for no reason, even if it doesn't benefit him to the slightest.
- Adaptational Nice Guy: Downplayed with Francis, as he's still Jerk with a Heart of Gold here, but still qualifies as he's shown to be occasionally friendly towards
- Adaptational Wimp: The Tank is a nigh-unstoppable juggernaut in the original series that takes a good chunk of your munitions to fully stop him in it's home game. Here? A speeding vehicle can mow them down in one shot. Taken up to eleven with "The Trip" where it went down with a single shot of a helicopter gun.
- Anti-Hero: Vin Diesel.
- Arch-Enemy: Coach has Francis (formerly) and Bill. Vin has Postal Dude.
- Art Evolution: Each new episodes is more polished and articulate thanks to the clever use of photoshop and the video editing software that allows Dizztah to do more than simply flinging and moving ragdolls around. In fact, it's one of the very few Machinima series that still regularly utilizes manual ragdoll movement in recording over manually animating per frame like how other creators such as kitty0706 and DasBoSchitt would revolutionize it in their newer videos.
- Back for the Dead:
- Postal Dude would return as the final obstacle Vin's had to overcome in his Christmas Special, and he dispatched him in an ensuing helicopter battle.
- Also Vin's Brother Strong Erdim return in the same Christmas Special wanting to hug Vin after so long, who were secretly trying to kill him, only to be killed back by Vin. In the same episode, he comments whether he's going to heaven after death only for the Grim Reaper to reincarnate him as a baby.
- Big Eater: Coach, for a good reason.
- Breakout Character: Shaun the Hello Guy is a minor antagonist from "Coach Goes Camping" and "Vin Diesel War", but he's popular enough to become one of the main cast.
- Butt-Monkey: The main cast members are as prone to butt of many jokes as everyone else in the series. Special mention goes to Vin Diesel, who slowly becomes this as the series progresses, starting from "Vin Diesel War".
- A more traditional example is Rochelle. Also Louis and Ellis, to a lesser extent.
- The Cameo: Plenty.
- Aside from the usual Left 4 Dead roster, there's also some other characters from the Valve-owned IP such as the mercenaries from Team Fortress 2 and some of Half-Life 2 characters that would regularly appear and join the main cast. Demoman himself is a central character
- Shaun from Shaun of the Dead is seen as one of the antagonist employed by the infected in "Coach Goes Camping". Apparently he's so
popular among the viewers that he got promoted to one of Coach's roomate, starting from "Coach Meets Vin's Brother". - Postal Dude appears as the central antagonist of "Vin Diesel War" and become Vin's arch-nemesis. He would return in the "Vin Diesel Christmas" in his Postal 3 appearance, returning as Vin's last obstacle before reaching Coach's gift.
- Agent 47 appears in "The Heavy Contract" as Coach's target by Heavy Weapons Guy and the central antagonist of the episode. In the same episode, T-850 would occasionally appear to hamper Coach's assassination attempt every now and then.
- Dr. Hax would appear as one of the newspaper subscriber in "Cheeseburger Apocalypse", where Coach would lift his daily paper by levitating it with console cheats, with predictable result.
- Mikuru and Ryoko appears in the "Vin Diesel Christmas" only to be killed off By Vin for no apparent reason. For some reason, a sound clip from Lucky Star is used there when they talking.
- Camping Episode: The simply titled "Coach Goes Camping".
- Catchphrase: Almost the entirety of Vin's vocabulary consist of the word "Fuck" from the Escape from Butcher Bay game, bordering Pokémon Speak.
- Christmas Special: The aptly named Vin Diesel Christmas.
- Cloud Cuckoo Lander: In the cast full of nutjobs and crazies, Shaun fits well for being an oddball in and out, though he shows a good level of competency when needed.
- Cool vs. Awesome: "Vin Diesel War" starts off a lengthy showdown between Vin Diesel and Postal Dude, that ends in a pretty well-choreographed final fight against multiple Postal Dudes.
- Crash Course Landing: In "The Trip", due to engine failure caused by a box of cereals, the plane the crew's boarding in is forced to crash land to a deserted island where the infected are trapping people alive.
- Death Is Cheap: Per course of the show. No death really sticks out, even side characters like Vin's Brother would return back to life in a Christmas Special.
- Deranged Animation: Per course of your standard Gmod Machinima. Even newer episodes can look just as wacky despite being better paced and more polished.
- Deserted Island: The infected island in "The Trip", where it's inhibited with plotting special infected and cockroaches.
- Diabolus ex Machina: Shaun could have rescued the stranded survivor, but the helicopter immediately plummets to the ground due to running out of fuel, which immediately blows him to smithereens.
- Disney Villain Death: How Postal Dude dies in "Vin Diesel Christmas".
- This is also how the Italian Mob Boss dies in "Cheeseburger Apocalypse", before Vin ran him over with the car again.
- Disproportionate Retribution: This seems to be the main cast's MO. If someone is ever so slightly offends them or simply being in their way, both Coach and/or Vin would clean the floor and resort to murder most of the time.
- Drives Like Crazy: Because Dizztah drove and recorded the driving footage by himself in one single camera and PC, everyone in the show would occasionally bump and crash into anything imaginable, and it would take several takes to record the scene as intended, as seen in many bloopers in the credits section of each episodes. He also uses SCars addon for this, which is the reason why each car felt so slippery.
- Early-Installment Weirdness:
- Before "Coach Goes Camping", there's basically no focused plot as the characters would seemingly performing their unusual shenanigans without rhymes and dime as there are no real pacing.
- In "Coach Goes Camping", the other survivors seemingly living together in one house alongside Coach.
- Before "Coach Meets Vin's Brother", Shaun is mostly portrayed as an antagonistic figure and even says other word than "Hello" when introducing himself to Louis. He's even introduced in the show for the first time as working with the infected.
- Francis in "Francis Dislikes Coach" is rather controlling and antagonistic. While still a jerk in subsequent episodes, he's significantly nicer and more restrained otherwise.
- Everything's Deader with Zombies: The special infected.
- Humanoid Abomination: Coach can transform into a large disembodied head on a cheeseburger that can easily overpower anything.
- Hypocrite: The reason why Coach threw his AK to Vin in "Coach Meets Vin's Brother" is because he's tired that Vin would keep saying the F-word. When he meets Strong Erdim, he would immediately become close friends despite Erdim himself also has limited vocabulary that consists mostly of the f-word.
- Improbable Weapon User: Coach and co. seems to be able to use multitude of weapons in the ways that they aren't intended to.
- Coach uses a pipe-bomb attached to a heavy machine gun to finishes off Agent 47 in "The Heavy Contract".
- In "Vin Diesel War", The Punisher uses the length tip of a shotgun to tap Sniper's leg, killing him in one hit.
- Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Francis, naturally.
- Major Injury Underreaction: Francis react in a rather calm fashion after blowing himself into a disembodied head with an air support, all to get rid a cockroach.
- Our Zombies Are Different: The special infected is treated more like a cunning schemer than what they were in their home games, a mindless murderous undead.
- Rule of Funny
- Pokémon Speak: Earlier on, Vin's vocabulary seems to consist of nothing but the word "Fuck", implying that he can only say that, until later on where some of the quotes of his movies would also be used starting from "Coach Meets Demoman", therefore subverting this.
- Played straight with Shaun, who only says "Hello" in most of his run on the show except for a very first moment he was introduced. See Early-Installment Weirdness above for more info about that.
- Protagonist Title
- Shout-Out:
- The Final Fight against the army of Postal Dude in "Vin Diesel War" eerily mimicks the battle between multiple Agent Smiths from The Matrix.
- The entire premise of "The Heavy Contract" is based on the mission "A New Life" from Hitman: Blood Money, which ironically it's main protagonist becomes it's main target for Coach to take out.
- The Final Battle with Coach and Bill in "Cheeseburger Apocalypse" is stylized like the original Gameboy Pokemon game.
- Those Two Guys: Coach and Vin Diesel. Averted once Shaun joins in.
- Trademark Favorite Food: Coach really loves Cheeseburger.
- Troll: Francis seems to take a habit into trolling and pranking others.
- Likewise, the special infected are a lot more like a saturday morning cartoon schemer more than a dangerous subspecies in their home games.
- Vin Diesel would occasionally take up this habit every now and then, starting from "The Trip".
- Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: Francis really hates cockroach. So much so that he unloads his entire armory on it and calling an airstrike just to get rid of one!
- Vitriolic Best Buds: For what it shows, Coach and Vin's relationship isn't as smooth as they would suggest, as they would jab at each other's throat every now and then. As for "Coach Goes Camping", he also have a vitriolic relationship with Francis, taking potshots every now and then.
- Vacation Episode: The simply titled "The Trip", doubles as Big Disaster Plot.
