SHOW'S OVER (stylized as 𝐒𝐇𝐎𝐖'𝐒 𝐎𝐕𝐄𝐑) is an Object Show-focused, Pibby-inspired Meta Fiction Crossover series created by Punch-Holer (who is also the creator of the webcomic Escape from Abject Reality) released on May 7th, 2022.
When a glitchy, Four-shaped entity appears in the world of Modern Objects one day, only Map of the main quartet from said show escapes. After meeting Taco and Santa Hat via entering their worlds and finding out that the amalgamation is also making its way into other object show worlds assimilating and corrupting whoever it touches, our new trio of heroes will have to find a way to save the multiverse from this all-new threat...but poor Map isn't ready for what's to come.
At least that's what the premise would have played out if it didn't cancelled after just one episode according to this Twitter post.
𝐂𝐎𝐍𝐓𝐀𝐈𝐍𝐒 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐅𝐎𝐋𝐋𝐎𝐖𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐓𝐑𝐎𝐏𝐄𝐒:
- Adaptational Gender Identity: Map was cisgender male in Modern Objects, but is non-binary here, as he goes by he/they pronouns.
- A Dog Named "Dog": Despite the drastic genre shift you don't normally see in Object Shows, nothing really changes in naming conventions as everyone goes by the objects they are.
- Alternate Continuity: SHOW'S OVER starts off in an alternate version of the events of the first Modern Objects episode.
- Animate Inanimate Object: It's Pibby but the characters are replaced with objects from Object Shows. What can you possibly expect from it?
- Ascended Extra: Map was one of the two main tritagonists in Modern Objects but is the protagonist here.
- Bloodless Carnage: Horrifically subverted for a kid-orientated cartoon just like in Pibby. Map is shown with clear red-colored scratch marks across his face by the end of the episode and in the promotional material.
- Hive Mind: The static operates as one, consuming and absorbing the bodies and consciousness of any unfortunate object in its path, becoming a non-stop, ever-expanding blob of terror in the process.
- Eye Scream: With him filling Pibby's role, it's no surprise that Map gets one of their eyes scratched out.
- Left Hanging: Due to the series being dropped, it ended on a Downer Ending of Map losing his best friends and home to the static with no way of returning back to normal. Guess you can say the show's over.
- Rag Tag Bunch Of Misfits: Had the series continued, Map (The Broken Bird Plucky Comic Relief) would have joined forces with Santa Hat (The overworked, under-appreciated co-host) and Taco (The Manipulative Bitch Hidden Villain) to stop The Darkness from corrupting all of the Object Show multiverse.
- Short-Runner: Only one episode was produced before the series was canned.
- Uncertain Doom: Bucket, Professor Rubber and the entire fate of the Modern Objects verse were left at the mercy of the static with no way of confirming if they survive or not due to the Show's Over being cancelled for good.
- Whole-Plot Reference: The show takes the entire plot from Pibby with Map, Santa Hat and Taco acting as counterparts to Pibby, Alloy Boy and Melira respectively.
