Shannon Gurr (born May 16, 1996), better known online as shgurr, is a YouTube animator known for making storytime animations, animated music videos, and animation memes.

shgurr provides examples of:

  • Adults Are Useless: Had this attitude, in large part because most of the adults she knew growing up were completely oblivious to her.
  • Agony of the Feet: Shannon has a condition in her feet regarding her tendons. And on at least one occasion, she accidentally banged her shin into a cinder block.
  • Break the Cutie: Shannon's experiences of bullying and depression challenged her emotionally but also led to personal growth and resilience.
  • Cute Kitten:
    • She has two pet cats, Snake and Ghost.
      • There's even an Instagram blog for Snake and Ghost
    • She's now gotten a new cat named Oreo.
  • Cynicism Catalyst: A False Friend not inviting Shannon to her birthday party because it was only for "cool kids" caused Shannon to come to the utterly wrong conclusion that friendship didn't exist, which screwed her life up until she was 21.
  • Determinator: She has been determined to overcome her depression, pursue her passion for animation, and build a successful YouTube channel.
  • Early-Installment Weirdness: Her earliest videos are a mix of memes and Five Nights at Freddy's animations, before doing Storytime Animations.
  • Even the Girls Want Her: One time while working at Dollar Tree. She was hit on by an elderly drunk woman completely out of the blue.
  • Genki Girl: She's a really joyful and energetic person, despite her troubled past.
  • Happily Failed Suicide: At one point, she almost committed suicide by deliberately crashing a car off a mountain pass, but thoughts of her little brother brought her to her senses at the last minute. It was mere months after this that her healing process began, and she's now glad she couldn't bring herself to do it.
  • Heterosexual Life-Partners: With her roommate Meghan. And it's not surprising; Meghan helped bring her out of a deep, dark pit of misery and became her first true friend.
  • Hidden Depths: She went on journey from a period of self-isolation and misery to finding hope, purpose, and emotional growth through her YouTube channel and interactions with others.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: The titular "Lemon Boi" who bragged that Shannon couldn't beat him in a lemon squeezing contest, riling the previously-uninterested Shannon up and causing her to compete with him. This may have also caused him to spill his cup, costing him the contest even if Shannon hadn't won.
  • Irony: In high school, she and 2 other students were publicly shamed for being inconsiderate of the less fortunate. When they themselves were less fortunate because of their home lives (food was too essential for them to give up, they couldn't afford it, and Shannon's parents had too many mouths to feed to give up).
  • LGBT Creators: Shannon is demisexual and biromantic.
  • Kids Are Cruel: Shannon was bullied and shunned by kids her age so consistently and for so long that she ended up thinking friendship didn't exist and shutting herself off from other people. She was 21 when she learned that genuinely nice people do exist.
  • Massive Numbered Siblings: She's one of ten children.
  • Refuge in Audacity: Shared two of these in I Live in a Dollhouse.
  • The Reveal: Shannon's disclosure of her demisexual, biromantic, and asexual spectrum identity, as well as being neurodivergent with autism and ADHD contributes to her unique perspective and experiences.
  • Special Guest:
  • Squee: She does this a lot when she thinks something is really cute.
  • Stock Shoujo Bullying Tactics: An immense victim of this.
  • Trauma Conga Line: Probably the best description of the experiences with other people she describes in her "Draw My Life" videos.
  • Troubled, but Cute: Shannon struggles with depression, isolation, and physical pain, while still maintaining a relatable and endearing personality in her videos.
  • Underdogs Never Lose: She is able to overcome her difficult childhood, depression, and physical pain to pursue her passion for animation and build a successful YouTube channel.
  • Victory Pose: She apparently did a victory dance when she won Foursquare back when she was at school because it was in her own words "customary to do one."
  • Wardrobe Malfunction: Her mom once bought her poor-quality pants that ripped after one kicking motion, exposing her underwear. This happened three days in a row. The first two times, she was embarrassed, but the third time, she was just fed up with losing recesses because her pants hadn't survived a full day.
  • What Is This Thing You Call "Love"?: As a result of her nihilistic mindset at the time, she admits to having been genuinely confused when Meghan first explicitly called her a friend.
