    Pre-release theories
Other monsters and supernatural creatures who may appear:
This is a Halloween special, so it's only fitting.
  • Blade
  • Robbie Reyes
  • Johnny Blaze
  • Dracula
  • Frankenstein's Monster
  • N'Kantu
  • Mephisto and Blackheart
  • The Helstroms
  • The Ribbon Monster from Multiverse of Madness's opening
  • Xemnu
  • Fin Fang Foom
  • Manphibian (bonus points if he's played by Doug Jones)
  • Simon Garth the Revenant Zombie
    • All Jossed.

The entire special will be revealed to be a pulp movie that Marc Spector is watching at the end of the special.
Since Moon Knight first debuted in a Werewolf By Night comic, it would be a nice Mythology Gag.
  • Jossed.

Much like the theory above, the special will be revealed to be a Show Within a Show, but Jack Russell is actually a real werewolf.
Whether the actors in faux production are aware of it or not, Russell is a real Werewolf.
  • This would also keep the Special's TV rating down to TV-14 by "undoing" the disturbing content. Somebody dies? They were just an actor playing a role! Extreme gory violence? Cheap Special Effects! Of course, the big twist is that Jack Russell is a real Werewolf actor.
  • Jossed.

The special doesn't take place in the modern-day MCU
The Black and White Teaser Trailer hints that the special doesn't take place in the present.
  • Confirmed via Word of God (sort of). Michael Giacchino said that he wanted the story to be distanced from the main timeline, as he thought the story works best if it was self-contained rather than connected like most mainline MCU entries.
    • However, the official MCU Timeline list the special as the most recent entry in the Timeline. The special briefly shows an illustration of the Original 6 members of the Avengers, as well. It is possible that the multiverse is secretly in play, in regards to the placing of the special.

The Halloween special will explain: How Man-Thing ended up stranded on the planet Sakaar?
In Thor: Ragnarok, it is revealed that Man-Thing ended up stranded on Sakaar and was imprisoned by the Grandmaster and forced to fight in his Contest of Champions. Man-Thing won many fights in the Grand Arena, earning the praise of the Grandmaster, who bestowed upon him the title of Champion of Sakaar and dedicated a sculpture to him on the facade of his palace. However, it is never explained or revealed. How did the Man-Thing get trapped on the planet Sakaar? Maybe the Halloween special will give us an explanation.
  • Jossed. Ted's AKA Man-Thing's past on Sakaar is never revealed. Although one can assume his teleportation powers (which are yet to be seen within the MCU) allowed him to go to Sakaar, which would explain the cameo in Ragnarok.

Man-Thing will have an Adaptational Villainy
The first trailer seems to indicate that Man-Thing will be an evil monster.
  • To be fair, we only get a few brief glimpses of him, and we're not entirely sure who's on what side yet.
  • Jossed. He's initially painted as the villain, before the special reveals he does have a good nature. Granted, you still don't want to see his bad side...

Casting choices for Man-Thing
  • Man-Thing is played by Carey Jones via motion capture and his grunts are voiced by Jeffery Ford.

The appearance of the TVA Agents in the trailer, hints that this connects to Loki Season 2.
In addition, leaked images of filming of Loki Season 2, showcases horror movie posters. Coincidence?
  • The Agents are never confirmed to be TVA members, but rather they serve the Bloodstone Estate.
    • They're unlikely to be TVA agents since they're just wielding tasers and not pruning weapons.
  • Jossed. They are known as Bloodstone Guards, and wield regular tasers.

The special does not take place in the 199999/MCU 616 universe
The existence of monsters and widespread monster hunters is a big case of Remember the New Guy?, which feels out of place. But remember that this is taking place in the Multiverse Saga. It's possible that this takes place on another Earth where monsters are more known, and Jack, Ted, and Elsa will be pulled into the main universe as part of Secret Wars.
  • Jossed. The special makes a mention that monster hunters and monsters themselves tend to keep a low profile, even among each other, which explains why they haven’t interacted much with the more famous crowd of heroes.
    • Not outright Jossed. It'll only be Jossed if the special is confirmed to be in 199999, which that isn't a confirmation of.

    Post-release theories

In this continuity, Jack was born to a Romanian father and a Mexican mother
Just a theory tying the character's Race Lift to his comics backstory.
  • This would fit, since in the comics his mother was studying abroad in Romania when she met his father.

There is a whole colony of monsters that Jack has rescued.
Verusa claims that Jack has over 100 monster kills but, knowing what he's actually like, that's probably not true. His "kills" are probably monsters he rescued and hid away.
  • As stated in the beginning, none of his kills show up in Ulysses' mansion.
    • Why would he give them his kills? He isn't interested in their society and the marks that him killing them would leave would make it obvious it was a werewolf.
  • To be fair, while Jack and Ted prove that there are plenty of benevolent monsters out there, there are almost definitely plenty of evil ones as well. (Just ask Blade) It's entirely likely that Jack has come across and slain a few of them.

Elsa Bloodstone will bring genuine reform to the monster-hunting order
Not just to protect the world from the legitimately bad monsters like Dracula, but also to protect the good monsters, like Jack and Ted, from its current Knight Templar form.

Elsa Bloodstone is a SHIELD agent.
Her stepmother implies that Elsa is either untrained in their methods or is incompletely trained. However, she is shown to be more than capable of fighting and her fighting style bares a remarkable resemblance to Black Widow's. It's been established that SHIELD has faced all kinds of monsters that the Bloodstone Clan would have faced too, and there have been various implications that Man-Thing was kept in their custody too. Would it be so crazy that Elsa would abandon the Monster Hunters and work for SHIELD instead?

Odds are, if STAKE ever becomes a thing, she will join it or reform the Monster Hunter culture into it. Imagine it: "Elsa, Agent of S.T.A.K.E."

  • During their reunion Elsa outright states that her father's training wasn't the only training she received when her stepmother implies otherwise. SHIELD probably would have been the best possible place for a younger Elsa and it's not hard to see Nick Fury recruiting someone with extensive knowledge about supernatural creature that most of his other people would likely lack.

The Bloodstone's red glow is more relevant than it appears
Despite the special being in black and white (at least until the end), the Bloodstone still appears as red during the entirety of the special. The look of the stone, with its spectral like glow, is similar to two past instances of the MCU. Coincidence?
  • The first similarity is how the spectral glow of the stone, bears a resemblance to the Aether (Reality Stone). If it was an another Reality Stone, than it would easily explain the black and white nature of the program. But, the Bloodstone operates more like the Power Stone (which is purple) and can easily be held by a regular human.
  • The second similarity is how the color Red, is seen amid the black and white like in WandaVision. The red light on the Toast Mate 2000, the red (and yellow) SWORD drone, and Dottie's bloody hand are all shown as red during the black and white episodes of the series. The recurring red motif would foreshadowed Wanda's Chaos Magic and her fate as the Scarlet Witch. Could the MCU's Bloodstone be made from Chaos Magic?

Maria Hill will share a scene with Man-Thing at some point, which will result in a Brick Joke nearly ten years in the making.
  • Jossed. In Secret Invasion Maria Hill is killed off.
    • Not Jossed. [spoiler:It could be done with a flashback.]]

Jack, Man-Thing, and Elsa will team up with Cap in the future.
This does seem to take place in the 1940s, so if Chris Evans ever agrees to return and show what happened to him post-time travel, this could be his team.
  • Jossed, at least as described above. Disney+'s official MCU timeline order places Werewolf By Night after She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, placing it in 2025, despite the retro aesthetic.
  • On a more Watsonian level; several of the tombs in the Bloodstone crypt have death dates in the 60s, there is an 80s-90s era payphone at Ted's camp, and sushi appears to be popular and easily accessible to Westerners.

Verussa will be resurrected somehow, and want revenge.
There are plenty of ways she could be brought back, and considering the Bloodstones are connected to magic, it is possible.

Mark Spector/Steven Grant will be one of the first (if not the first) established characters in the MCU to encounter Jack Russell.
Moon Knight's first appearance in the original comics was in an issue of Werewolf by Night, so it seems likely that the two will encounter each other soon.

Ulysses Bloodstone was Good All Along and the funeral hunt was a Thanatos Gambit.
Ulysses Bloodstone set up his funeral in the hopes that the more extreme monster hunters would kill each other off. He had Ted captured, which brought a werewolf into their midst just to be sure.

He'd prefer that Elsa get the Bloodstone, but even if one of the monster hunters managed to get the stone, he'd at least succeed in killing off a few of the others. Even the worst-case scenario produces some positive results.

  • This would explain why the competition was even 'to the death' in the first place, since it would be pretty counterproductive to determine who leads a group by having them kill everyone they're supposed to lead.

In this continuity, Verussa is the mother of Cullen Bloodstone.
In the comics, Elsa has a younger brother who is possessed by a demon called a Glartrox, though they are full siblings in that continuity.

Ted is a Shipper on Deck for Jack and Elsa
In the final scene, Jack asks Ted if Elsa is alright, and Ted responds with several things that make Jack chuckle and reply in the negative. One of those is "You liiiiiikke her". So he had to step in and save his good friend's crush. This is part of the reason for Jack's reply about how he is the one who has to save Ted.

The upcoming Blade movie will heavily tie into this special in some way
Maybe Jack or Elsa will appear as a supporting character, or maybe Ted or the Bloodstone will be referenced briefly. Only time will tell.
