He thinks that by turning him into that, he's helping him by making him have "infinite fun".

Majin has telekinetic powers that he uses to make things spin around

That's why he can make the keys spin around during certain sections of Endless. It also may be a nice reference to Creep from the Nightmare Beginning games.

Tails, Knuckles, and Robotnik are Good All Along

All three supply BF with rings, which are essentially free health, Knuckles attempts to take over Xenophanes’ first part if the second transition static is anything to go by, and Robotnik outright pulls a No-Sell on Xenophanes’ attempt to swap him out.

The fact that Xenophanes tried to remove Robotnik 30 seconds in implies that at least Robotnik is doing something he doesn’t like, at least.

That's why the place Boyfriend fights .exe after Too Slow looks so unnatural and the random Art Shift to 16-bit graphics during a segment of "You Can't Run".

Tails, Knuckles and Eggman aren't the real deals

In the original pasta's sequel, it's been confirmed that after Sonic.exe steals his victim's soul, he puts them inside of a vessel designed to look like the person's favorite Sonic character and then mutilates and tortures them for shits and giggles. It was also confirmed that the characters that .exe kills during the game, are said vessels. It also may be possible that the Knuckles vessel may even be Kyle from the original pasta, given how his favorite character was Knuckles.

• Confirmed. A developer stated that "they were replaced instead by demons, or, like, lost souls".

Girlfriend is one of the Total Kill Repeaters from Triple Trouble.

As stated above, Tails, Knuckles, and Robotnik "were replaced instead by demons, or, like, lost souls". Girlfriend is, as we all know, a demon, and she disappears mysteriously after the You Can't Run cutscene, and she isn't seen again in any other song (except Old Hogscorched's faker song, but that's obsolete and might not even be her, as seen below).I propose a connection to all of this: namely, Girlfriend's disappearance was due to her becoming a total kill repeater.

• Which one would she be, though? I can see an argument for all of them.
  • Tails: The one that begins the song (just like how GF begins the original game), gives you the most rings (since she loves him and is actively cheering him on. also possibly symbolic for marriage proposal?), has red glowing eyes that flicker on sometimes, said eye is in the shape of the ring (Tutorial is all about teaching the player the four arrows of the original game, Tails's down pose may be an attempt to teach you the one "arrow" Tutorial didn't cover)
  • Knuckles: The most passive-seeming one, the reddest one
  • Eggman: Blocks Sonic.exe's static multiple times, the most powerful one, lacks the glasses (symbolic of intelligence) that the real Eggman has (because she's dumb lol), the mustache matches most closely with her hair color out of the three
    • Explain to me how that's "seeing an argument for all of them".

The Girlfriend that appears during "Faker" and "Black Sun" is also a faker.

Think about it. Why does this seemingly taller and more conventionally attractive Girlfriend only show up during the songs against EXE? Better still, these are the only two songs outside of the main week where Girlfriend shows up at all. It's got to be some sort of trap. And the only reason she doesn't transform like EXE did is because she's waiting for him to beat Boyfriend before doing so, as the betrayal will certainly add to his feeling of defeat.

• Boyfriend is an idiot but I doubt that he wouldn’t notice when the girl he loves has been replaced with an imposter, plus Girlfriend is a demon so it can be assumed that shapeshifting is one of her abilities.
  • Boyfriend is canonically more powerful than Sonic.exe, so he could have made Fake GF himself to keep him company while he looks for the real deal and stuffed it with the soul of one of his own victims.
• Maybe the Fake GF is attracted to the Real GF (much like the original Sonic.exe (real) is to Sonic) and she's just following Boyfriend around because she knows the Friends never stray far from each other.

All the bonus songs are part of Xenophanes' "trap" for Boyfriend.

With Triple Trouble seemingly seeing Boyfriend separated from Girlfriend and transported to some special hellscape, and the scenario's lack of a proper ending abruptly cutting to the various codes, plus the fact that Girlfriend doesn't reappear in any of the bonus songs, it's not hard to imagine that the bonus songs are all part of a nightmare gauntlet of Xenophanes' design— a special hell just for Boyfriend, to break him in return for humiliating him.

This could also tie into the above theory about the "Girlfriend" that appears in Faker and Black Sun ALSO being a fake— one last cruel twist of the knife to break Boyfriend's spirit, now that Xenophanes has figured out how much she means to Boyfriend. Either that, or Faker/Black Sun represents the two truly reuniting and having to deal with one more threat before Girlfriend can bust the two of them out of there.

• Wait, but then what's the deal with Sunky.MPEG being a Token Good Teammate and Super Sonic hating .exe?
  • There might be the possibility that Sunky.MPEG was forced to be part of Xenophanes's gauntlet, or he tried hijacking the gauntlet in an attempt to give Boyfriend a happier ending. As for Fleetway, he obviously wanted nothing to do with .exe, but .exe knew how powerful Fleetway was, so he just sent Boyfriend to his dimension in an attempt to kill him, Fleetway being unaware that his most hated nemesis is using him.
  • Obviously, Sonic.EXE wanted to have another go at Boyfriend, so he tried to bring him into the ending screen (with everyone's heads on pikes again), but he messed up and accidentally brought him into a very close alternate universe, where Sunky.MPEG was having a dance party with his friends. After "Milk", though, Sunky messed up similarly and sunked BF back into the normal Sonic universe.

Sonic.EXE is hollow on the inside and has a Bizarre Alien Biology

He can easily make long stuff that would only fit (comfortably) inside his body with Bizarre Alien Biology come out of his mouth with no problem, such as that tentacle tongue-thing and the hands, and aside from that Monochrome-looking You Can't Run pose (which is likely just his shapeshifting), there doesn't seem to be any sign that there's anything past his throat. My guess is that he only designed the outside of the Sonic body.

Candidates for Rev EXE's replacement and other future opponents

The dev team stated that EXE would be replaced by someone else. While it has been confirmed the replacement is confirmed to be Sonic.OMW there are still candidates in here for future opponents. So this section is sort of a mix of a time capsule of the speculation of who was gonna replace EXE and speculation of who else could be included in this mod.

• Needlemouse/Sarah - Though the creator of Needlem0use, ShutUpJoeseph initially forbade the Friday Night Funkin' community from making mods out of the creepypasta, he later announced that he was making his own Needlem0use mod before stating that it would be tied to an already pre-existing mod. It's likely it'll be part of this mod. She's also a version of Sonic.exe that starts off as a normal Sonic with some differences before transforming into a very tall monster.
  • Sorta confirmed, ShutUpJoseph revealed that Needlemouse (also Luther) actually will be in the Vs Sonic.exe mod, although whether or not will she replace EXE is unknown.
• Igel from the Sonic Limited Edition: The Lost Cartridge series.
• Secret History Tails. He was the first new opponent introduced after Revie, so naturally he would be the one to replace the fake Sonic.EXE.
  • Sorta confirmed, he will appear in the Vs Sonic.exe mod, though like Needlemouse, it's unknown whether or not will he replace EXE.
• Lord M from the April Fools' demo of the Sonic.EXE PC Port. I think we all need a bit more Sunky in our lives.
• AOSTH Robotnik. He's certainly got the right eyes to be an EXE thing, and he's a Sonic character, so...
• FATAL_ERROR. He would fit right in with the other Sonic.exe takes.
  • Also sorta confirmed, FATAL_ERROR has been confirmed to be coming to the mod via Saster uploading Fatality.
• Y’know what, all in, if Sunky, Sanic, Sonic.OMW, and Coldsteel can appear in this mod, who’s to say Sonichu and co. can’t make their grand appearance?
  • Than again, after what happened in 2021 regarding that piece of suck, I wouldn’t be surprised if the dev team decided that having anything Chris-Chan related attached to this mod in any form would be a bad idea.
• Alright, this one’s gonna need a bit of explaining before we get to the point. During v2.0’s development, MarStarBro posted this snippet of a cover of Confronting Yourself to Twitter, which at the time was only known for being the Megalo for Differentopic, an Undertale AU, and way before the mod it’s now associated with came out, using Boyfriend and another Boyfriend, but bit crunched, as the vocals for the song before deleting it later. Given that Differentopic’s LOVE counterpart is EXECUTION (shortened to EXE), Sonic and .exe are respectively the Frisk and Chara of this AU, as well as Saster announcing a while back that he was working on a new version of Confronting Yourself, it’s possible that we could have a duel against DT!Sonic.exe as DT!Sonic or EXE 20 Boyfriend as regular Boyfriend trying to reclaim control over his body.
  • Probably jossed but also somewhat confirmed, a separate mod that MarStarBro, one of the directors, is working on, Vs. Yourself, which the titular character is described as basically a Boyfriend.exe features a song called, Eye to Eye, is a remix of Confronting Yourself. So while a Confronting Yourself remix probably isn’t in the cards for this mod, it is for another.
• EYX from Sonic the Hedgehog: Editable ROM. In his song, he may switch between his Sonic and his Tails form.
  • Probably jossed, he’s getting his own mod separate from Vs. Sonic.EXE.
    • Same happened with Tails Doll, and he still made it into the game though
• ERR.Hedgehog.X. Yes, this troper knows that he was initially forbidden from being in the mod by Revie, but since she's no longer in the team, he may have a chance! Besides, the creator of Sonic.ERR even made his own concept art for Sonic.ERR in FNF.
  • Probably jossed given how ERR’s creator has been the subject of quite a bit of controversy as of late.
    • ERR has a new owner now so it could still be in the mod.
• How about Alan, the name of the soul trapped in Tails’ body by Lord X in PC Port Remake? Given that Luther, a victim to his .exe counterpart, is slated to appear with Needlemouse, it wouldn’t be odd to see him show up.
• Mighty.ZIP could make an appearance, assuming the collab between Vs. Sonic.EXE and D-Sides is two-way.
• The EXE Slayer. His song may feature him singing not against Boyfriend, but against a .exe from the mod's cast.
  • Alternatively, you could probably sing as him against a .exe that takes the form of Boyfriend, or vice versa.
• Knucklehead from Maple Riot’s You decided Sonic Blast.
  • Helps that there’s an open slot for a Knuckles.exe take after Chaotix was cut.
• Original Movie Sonic and the more recent gray test model for Movie Tails◊ are freaky enough to make an appearance.
• No More Innocence. He may even fight BF in his human form at the start of his song, right before revealing himself.
• The DRM Ghosts from Sonic Gather Battle, given that those things are from the closest thing to an actual Sonic Creepypasta in real life.
• A faker for the faker.
  • Wait, do you mean a faker for Rev-EXE or a faker for the actual fakers of Sonic (e.g. a shadow.exe or a metalsonic.exe)?
    • Yes.
  • Confirmed - the canceled build of the mod has a song called Manual-Blast that includes what is essentially a bootleg version of suckface over here.
• SATAX from Ten Years of Chasing Tails
• Shannon Goldman from the sequel to the original creepypasta. Boyfriend would try to infiltrate the cult and take it down once and for all.
  • In a similar vein, Tom or Derek could appear as joke characters.
• Kyle from Needlem0use to round out the characters from Needlem0use that have autonomy within the comp disc.
• Tsume Sonic to serve as another Token Good Teammate for the mod.

Demogri will help Boyfriend when singing against Griatos

Given that Demogri will be trying to help the player take down Griatos according to Madzilla (the creator of these two), it’d make sense if there’d be points in the song where Demogri steps in to help, with a potential duet between him and BF near the end of the song as the final blow to Griatos.

Tails, Knuckles, and Eggman are Brainwashed and Crazy

All of them except Eggman are good guys, and even Eggman opposes Xenophanes. So it would make sense for them to only be assisting Xenophanes due to brainwashing.

• Why would Xenophanes even bother? They know they have no choice anyways.
  • The evulz?
    • Nah. I think it's more evil if they are not brainwashed but still forced to do Xenophanes' bidding. It's sort of an And I Must Scream situation.

Xenophanes is Tom.

Obviously Xenophanes isn't the real Lord X/Sonic.EXE, what with his white pupils in the original version, his crazy X-Crystal form, and the fact that when he goes 8-Bit he looks nothing like X's actual sprites. That's obvious. The "wild" part of this mass guess is that Xenophanes might be Lord X's victim taking his place just to spite him.

Here's a play-by-play of what I think happened:

• 1. Lord X went through the events of Rounds 1 and 2, capturing Kyle, Tom, and many others along the way.
• 2. Years passed, and Lord X changed up his style to how we see him in the Sonic.EXE PC Port.
• 3. Before the PC Port's events, a young couple of upstart voidies named Girlfriend and Boyfriend show up to play their own twisted game.
• 4. Before X can interfere, Tom takes his form based only on his memory of their time together and rushes to fight the new eldritch-abominations-that-take-over-games on the block, just to show X allegedly how much better he could have done.
• 5. Boyfriend's presence gives Tom power as long as he keeps singing, so to keep him entertained, Tom brings out the big guns: The souls of the characters he had played as all those years ago. Tom, being a fan of the modern Sonic games, also grows to look like a twisted fusion of Mephiles The Dark and the Phantom Ruby.
• 6. Lord X is still pulling the strings here, so he flashes a couple of codes onscreen. One of them leads to a fun Sonic CD reference, one leads outside the universe entirely and into Sunky's world (where Machinegun Moneybags may or may not have tricked their world's "Beef" in a similar fashion), one leads onto a comic page, et cetera, et cetera... but one of them leads straight into Lord X's domain.

• Replier here, there is a slight problem to this theory, according to Round 2, X seals the souls of his victims in their favorite Sonic characters (sans Sonic, which is reserved for his favorite victims). The remake of Sonic.EXE confirms that Tom’s favorite character is Silver. Tom (at least in the original story) doesn’t seem notable enough for X to give him Sonic as a vessel, given how he’s just a dumb kid. Maybe Xeno could be Derek or Remake!Tom, given how they nearly dismantled the cult’s operations (while being bumbling idiots, but those pastas were created by JC the Hyena, so not having baseline competence from a protagonist without plot convenience on their side is to be expected).
  • Lord X probably doesn't have that many Silvers on hand, what with his evil lair being in a mash of the classic Sonic titles rather than anything close to '06, so perhaps Tom's vessel was a Sonic that X modified into a Silver, then Tom de-tooled it back into Sonic so he could try to take X's place.
• Not the point of the WMG, but the tidbit about the Friends being eldritch abominations like Lord X is basically confirmed, considering how their creator said they would kill him instantly if they had the proper motivation.

There will be a future week/song where the Cult Of X appears

At the end, they manage to summon their lord again (or the false idol Xenophanes) for a trio segment, similar to Challeng-Edd.

• I thought KhaosKid663 was Shadow.

Xenophanes is an illusion of the Phantom Ruby.

He has pink crystals growing out of his head, for crying out loud. How much more obvious can you be?

• Literally none of the constructs created by the Phantom Ruby had this trait though.

There's gonna be an .EXE for Boyfriend

And his name may be something like XML or something.

• Maybe it can be a role reversal for him. For example, instead of playing as BF, you play as Sonic or The EXE Slayer for this hypothetical song.
  • Or one of the characters from vanilla FNF, such as Girlfriend, Pico, or Daddy Dearest.
• Confirmed! Well, not in this mod, but one of the directors is making a mod separate from this one known as Vs. Yourself, which Yourself being the name of this BF.EXE.

3.0 or an update beyond 3.0 will change the name of the mod to something like Friday Night Funkin’.EXE

Given the sheer size of this thing, it’d make sense for a full rebrand to occur, like how Monika Full Week changed its name to Doki Doki Takeover (and later will change its name once again to Doki Doki Takeover Plus) once that update rolled out.

• Also, Vs. Sonic.EXE isn’t quite as fitting anymore thanks to multiple other characters/series aside from Xeno are getting multiple new songs, such as Lord X getting Hellbent, Majin getting Fun is Infinite, and Luther getting a song with Needlemouse.

“I am the first, but not the original” refers to how Lord X is the first .exe take, but not the original Sonic.exe, which is JC’s Lord X

Given that Sunky was confirmed to be getting a full week, Lord X will also get a full week.

• In a now unlisted interview with the former director, it was said Sunky is getting a full week. With this in mind, it doesn't seem too outlandish to assume Lord X is also getting a full week.

Triple Trouble Encore or the new nine minute song will include the characters seen in Round 2’s game, those being Shadow, Sally, and Rouge for those who haven’t read and/or forgot the sequel to Sonic.exe existed.
