Funny / Vs Sonic.exe

Go To

Despite being based on a creepypasta, it's also a Friday Night Funkin' mod, so it's inevitably going to have plenty of humourous moments.

  • After his loss in "Too Slow", Sonic.exe attempts to attack Boyfriend... only to get abruptly sidelined by Girlfriend as she walks away with her lover. What makes this hilarious is that he lets them go, likely out of sheer shock at effectively being bitch-slapped by a fellow demon. In Round 2, this is slightly changed: he doesn't let them go, but when he tries to attack the duo, Girlfriend (with the most deadpan expression imaginable) blocks it, and Boyfriend whips out his microphone for another go.
    • Sonic.exe angrily roaring “Why you little…!” in the middle of “You Can’t Run" may remind some of Homer Simpson, and make you completely unable to take it seriously.
    • Then after his second loss in “You Can’t Run"? He proceeds to scream in pure rage. What would normally be frightening is simply priceless to see with what was a Smug Super in his original story become such a Sore Loser.
  • The additional Sound Test codes given in addition to the bonus song codes are all splash images reminiscent of the ones that were hidden in Sonic CD. Whereas most of the ones in CD were adorable, cool, or creepy, these ones all end up abruptly hilarious.
    • The Thanksgiving update provides a couple joke animatics showcasing different interactions with -EXE, such as him reenacting a memetic clip of Steve Harvey yelling "KILL" as a command to his version of Tails to reduce Boyfriend to a smear on the floor, or him getting ready to kill Tails for drinking all the milk.
    • One image is a short comic of Sunky walking in on Lord X playing video games, who then turns to Sunky and excitedly tells him he's in the game, revealing that he's playing his own level in the mod.
  • An update to the mod in between Rounds 1 and 2 introduces a new opponent, accessible via a secret code entered in the title screen. Who is said opponent? Why, none other than Sunky.MPEG, the "antagonist" of a joke parody of the mod's source Creepypasta, complete with all of the wackiness his game provides.
  • The same update that introduced Sunky to the mod also updated the icons for both Sonic.exe and Lord X. Both look fine... except now Lord X's losing icon is in such distorted shock it looks like a Wojak face. It's... a little hard to take seriously.
  • Near the beginning of "Chaos", Super Sonic fires a laser at Boyfriend that has to be dodged with the Spacebar. What makes this funny? It's the only one in the entire song. The reason for this is also pretty amusing; when they tried to add more, it made the game crash.
  • Halfway through "Chaos", what does Boyfriend do to defeat Fleetway Super Sonic? Turn super as well, of course! Sonic is as dumbfounded as the player likely is.
    Super Sonic: WHAT?!
  • Super Sonic's game over quotes are all amazing. From poking fun at Sonic.exe, to poking fun at you. The best of his quotes, however, is when he references the infamous "Unfortunately, I had sexual intercourse with your mother" meme!
Super Sonic: That was a nice argument. Unfortunately, you were burnt to a crisp by my laser eyes!
  • There is something weirdly hilarious about how in the entire mod, a normal version of Sonic (Fleetway Sonic before going Super in the opening cutscene to "Chaos") only appears for about a second.
    • Similarly, the fact that the Sonic variation that's truest to canon flips the bird in his right pose is also somewhat amusing.
  • The Round 2 teaser posted on twitter with the official release date showcases all of the opponents, old and new (barring Fleetway Super Sonic). On top of Sunky being, well Sunky, we also have Sanic.exe posed atop the ring like a tough guy sitting on the stoop of his house, and Tails Doll limply resting against it, not invoking Limp and Livid, but just sleeping. In addition, the release date for the update was Thanksgiving, as if to say Evil Is One Big, Happy Family is in full effect.
  • The visual overhaul for Lord X makes his stage a bit more lighthearted, with the hands waving around behind the jaw-bush carrying a sign stating very plainly that "We're not Knuckles" as a joke based on people's recurring assertions. In addition, Lord X's animations have become a bit more cartoonish and lackadaisical, as if unlike the other versions of Sonic.exe, he's not taking this seriously.
    • His poses, while a bit disturbing due to just how much his face stretches out, are so exaggerated that they're hilarious, with his left pose having him gesture at Boyfriend with an Aside Glance, as if to say "can you believe this guy?", while his down pose has him look like he's very calmly explaining something or trying to make a point.
    • Even his up pose, which features two skeletal hands stretching his mouth open, has a bit of humor in that there's a third one that reaches out of his gaping maw... just to hold his microphone. Mundane Utility at its finest.
  • The 2.0 update added another joke Sonic, that being the ever-infamous Sanic(.exe). His various poses call back to the MLG memes that were popular around the same, and the game over sequence is a poorly-done GMod animation of Sanic blowing up Boyfriend.
  • The unused song, "Fate", is mostly dead serious (and extremely awesome) aside from one final moment at the end. During what sounds like Lord X's death throes, the last signifier that he's kicked the bucket is… a Windows 10 error noise. Boyfriend beats one of the most fearsome Sonic.exe incarnations so badly he hard crashes. A fitting death for a Fourth-Wall Observer like Lord X.
  • One of the new songs in 3.0 is against Coldsteel, a parody of edgy OCs, and just about everything about him and his song "Personel" is hilarious. From everything Coldsteel says, to when everything goes distorted and Coldsteel goes on a brief rant about his ear and someone taking his Shiny Moltres card.
  • Although both he and his songs are still rather scary, there is some humour in how Starved's poses in "Fight Or Flight" are just as enthusiastic as his normal self.
  • The art promoting 3.0 showcasing a good chunk of the characters that were planned has its humor as well. Namely, Sunky is just leaning against the ring like a bored kid, Sonic.OMW has a face that just screams "I don't want to be here", and Tails Doll, who was asleep in the 2.0 promo art, is now holding on for dear life.
  • A couple have to be handed to the official version of Final Escape.
    • The thumbnail for the song has Boyfriend cheekily pulling a raspberry at Xenophanes in the middle of their climatic chase.
    • After having Boyfriend quite literally in his grasp, Xenophanes ends up losing it once Boyfriend turns super once more, and, like Fleetway before him, lets out a Big "WHAT?!" while looking utterly perplexed.
