A sequel will be made
The plot's main villains will be the Greater Galactic Coalition from the future, who have begun to disappear as a result of humanity changing the timeline and never forming it. The GGC will go back in time to take over humanity from the past, and form the GGC at an even earlier time. The Wonderful 101 will get together again to fight off their future.
The sequel will reveal that the GGC's founder (or at least the one most responsible for setting its birth in motion) will be one of the core cast.
This will not only place drama from our heroes learning that one of them will go on to found/set the stage for a galactic empire that will terrorize the galaxy in the future, but could incite infighting among them as they try to find out who's to blame. Possible candidates:
Wonder Red-Our protagonist. It would be an easy source of drama for him to learn that he was the one who founded the empire that will bring darkness into the future. He might have doubt cast on whether he should continue being a hero knowing what he's party to.
Luka-He'd (that is to say, himself as an adult) be so driven to honor his mother's will and protect Earth from all threats (and possibly to atone for his actions in aiding GEATHJERK) that he'll defend his planet by ANY MEANS NECESSARY. It could also lead to a chilling callback to the first game's ending where Wonder Red told Luka that it's up to his generation to build a shining tomorrow (such as a villanous Future Badass Luka telling Red that he had his words to him in his heart when he was building the GGC).
The Greater Galactic Coalition/Imperium is described as a federation of races led by a distant descendant of the Wonderful 100, who invaded the peaceful GEATHJERK Cluster without any warning. The modern GEATHJERK are vengeful survivors who travelled back in time to
prevent the war from happening. According to Jerginga, the GEATHJERK sought to destroy or subjugate every planet and species that had been part of the Coalition in their native time period, including Rhullo and Earth/Chi-Q. Ironically, in attacking every world of the Coalition
seemingly without warning, the GEATHJERK have sown the seeds of their own tragic backstory.
Fifteen-hundred years into the future, the spacefaring descendants of those same races (their hearts hardened by the brutal wars with the GEATHJERK) will discover the home cluster of their ancient, shared nemesis and launch an invasion, seeking to avenge their ancestors and exterminate the GEATHJERK before they become a threat.
