- "Metal Sonic" is confirmed to appear in Season 2.
- Either in the form of Scourge the Hedgehog, an evil Super Sonic or an all-new Evil Sonic.
- Confirmed. Chaos Sonic appears as an Evil Counterpart to Sonic.
- Although the trailer shows Rouge fighting alongside Sonic and his friends, she’s just doing it because she wants the Paradox Prism for herself. She might even team up with Eggman and/or Shadow if it’s convenient for her.
- Somewhat confirmed. Rouge shows up and explains to Sonic that she actually has been hunting down the Paradox Prism for Years cause it fits her jewel hunting nature, but she’s also clearly just as eager to stop Eggman from using it for evil purposes as the others.
- Sonic Adventure was one of only the times the series has had a pink Flicky, the other being 3D Blast, whose pink Flicky has a much different design than what we see in the trailer; the main universe version of this Flicky is seen with Amy, Tails, Knuckles, and Big, who were also protagonists of Adventure alongside Gamma; and in an alternate universe, an alternate version of the Flicky is a mount for Amy Rose, who befriended Gamma and inspired him to revolt against Eggman.
- Confirmed as of this trailer for Season 2.
- A Western themed Shatterspace where Sonic’s gloves let him throw out a rope and lasso.
- Friends are named Desert/Cactus Rose, Moulin/Ruby Rouge, Catterwaul Big, Dusty Tails, and Buck/Blackeye Knuckles.
- A medieval themed Shatterspace where Sonic's gloves turn into his gauntlet from Sonic and the Black Knight that he can use to summon a sword.
- Friends are named Blacksmith Tails, Sir Knuckles, Queen Amy, Lady Rouge, and Sir Big.
- Tails will be called Sir Miles Prower, it will be referencing the medieval style world called Nameless Zone he is from in Sonic the Comic.
- An Arabian Nights themed Shatterspace where Sonic's shoes can create a magic carpet he can ride like a skateboard. Or an Extreme Gear.
- Tails becomes Ali Baba, Knuckles becomes Sinbad, Rouge becomes Aladdin, and Amy & Big become genies.
- A frigid icy Shatterspace where Sonic’s shoes become ice skates.
- Friends would have ice-themed naming like Polar, Blizzard or Frosty.
- A gleaming city inspired by the Superhero genre where Sonic's gloves gain a Grappling-Hook Pistol function to let him swing across skyscrapers.
- Rouge will be a Classy Cat-Burglar with Knuckles either being a super hero or Da Chief trying to catch her.
- A black-and-white film noir-themed Shatterspace where Sonic's gloves act as a sort of clue-finder, temporarily giving important things color.
- A Nottingham inspired Shatterspace where Sonic’s gloves can act as a crossbow that shoots out arrows.
- Rouge is a Robin Hood expy named Robin Rouge, and Knuckles takes on the role of a male version of Maid Marian.
- Amy Rose will take the Robin Hood role as a reference to two different comics, the Archie comics where her cousin is a version of Robin Hood and Sonic the comic Amy who uses both a crossbow and a bow, Sonic the Comic Amy is the first version of Amy to use a weapon.
- A Monster Mash world set in the equivalent of Victorian England, with Tails as a werewolf, Amy as a witch, Big as a zombie, and Rouge as a vampire. Knuckles will be a Hunter of Monsters who struggles between his responsibilities and not wanting to commit Van Helsing Hate Crimes. Sonic’s gloves will turn into mummy bandages, allowing him to tie things up and use the bandages like a rope.
- A Mirror Universe where Sonic's friends are all different flavors of villainy and "Goodniks" like Orbot and Cubot are desperately trying to protect the world, to Sonic's eternal confusion and discomfort. Sonic's gear will give him Intangibility to represent his desire to stay out of this particular conflict and not have to fight the parodies of his friends.
- The Tails counterpart could be the Mad Scientist "Dr. Prower", looking to use the Goodniks as slave labor or spare parts for his own inventions.
- Knuckles or Amy could be Dr. Prower's muscle in attacking the Goodniks. Dr. Prower would chastise them for getting too destructive and risk ruining the parts he wants.
- Rusty Rose could briefly form an Enemy Mine partnership with Sonic as she sees the villains of this Shatterspace as a threat to the Chaos Council's rule.
- A Gender-Bent Alternate Universe where Sonic becomes a female version of himself with relatively the same abilities.
- Friends include Miley "Tails" Prower, Andy Rose, Knuckla the Echidna, Rogue the Bat, and Huge the Kitty.
- All Jossed: There are only five Shatterspaces, and only three of them are inhabited; New Yoke City, Boscage Maze, No Place, the Grim, and Ghost Hill.
- Sonic and Shadow don’t seem to be in any parts we’ve seen of the Shatterverse. It’s possible that the world "not existing" is that the Shatterverse is actually just parts of the world split into different dimensional planes. Since Sonic and Shadow had transported themselves into the Shatterverse before the chaos happened, and have only caught a glimpse of what is there, it’s not entirely impossible.
- Because whenever Sonic collects something it’s in sevens. Each Prism shard is in a different world and represented by a different color, either the rainbow or Chaos Emerald colors.
- Red: New Yoke City
- Orange/White:???
- Yellow:???
- Green: Boscage Maze
- Blue: No Place
- Indigo/Cyan:???
- Violet/Purple: The Grim
- Jossed: There are five Shards;
- Red: New Yoke City
- Green: Boscage Maze
- Blue: No Place
- Violet: The Grim
- Yellow: Ghost Hill
- His standard backstory, with Maria Robotnik and the space colony, would clash too much with this universe. Instead, Shadow is simply an old genetics experiment of Eggman's grandfather's. Shadow seeks power because he is plagued by self-doubt from his "artificial" nature. You could say he doesn't want to be a mere shadow of a hedgehog.
- Jossed, Prime takes place in the same universe as the video games according to Word of God.
- They would be used in the inevitable final battle against Eggman, in whatever form he may take at that point, with Sonic and possibly Shadow going Super and then Chaos Controlling the universe back together.
- Finding the seventh one will be irrelevant due to Shadow currently possessing the green Emerald.
- Jossed: There are five Shatterspaces.
- In the first episode, Rusty states how fighting the Council will only end badly for Nine. The third reveals she's directly controlled by the Chaos Council after Nine manages to hack into her systems and turns her against them, with her mechanical eye even changing color from red to yellow once he takes over. And then the eighth shows Rusty glitching up upon seeing Black Rose before calling off the attack, when she was clearly winning and had no reason to leave until the ship had completely sunk. These all seem to indicate that the Rusty Rose we've seen so far is nothing more than a programmed personality created by the Council. Perhaps she was originally a rebel like Knucks and Rouge, but was captured by the Council at some point (perhaps to let others get away from the Council) and forcibly turned into a subservient cyborg as a warning to other rebels. After seeing another version of herself, her dormant personality resurfaces and begins to fight with the program for control, explaining why she suddenly decided to take mercy when she had shown no such thing before; and eventually, she will fully overpower the program and become an ally to Sonic and company against the Council, signified by her mechanical eye turning from red to green.
- So far, the only counterparts for Eggman have been the Chaos Council, but he was caught up in the blast just like Sonic's friends. In at least one of the Shatterspaces will have an Eggman who is a Science Hero, perhaps with Sonic's friends as the villains. Naturally Sonic's biggest issue is going to be learning how to actually fight those he sees as friends and ally with someone he sees as an enemy.
- Jossed: In all of the Shatterspaces, there is only the Chaos Council.
- From what we've seen already rather than peacefully converse about the problem Sonic would eventually cause out of recklessness, Shadow prefers to let his fists do the talking because fighting is all he knows how to do. As such this will eventually cause more problems for himself and Sonic than it solves and if he doesn't realize this sooner, he's going to learn it the hard way either by being defeated and restrained by Sonic, encountering someone in the Shatterverse who is just like him, or something else entirely.
- When Sonic shattered the Paradox Prism, Eggman was the closest one to him and practically holding on to the dang thing. As a result of this, he took on much more of the blast than the rest of the world, and rather than creating alternate universe versions of him like it did with everyone else, it turned him into a divided up group of five Eggman’s, each representing a dominant trait of his villainous personality.
- Dr. Babble: Immaturity
- Dr. Don’t: Lack of Empathy
- Mr. Dr. Eggman: Bossiness
- Dr. Deep: Arrogance
- Dr. Done-It: Irritability
- Whether through the others ditching him, him ditching them, them being captured by the rebels, or whatever, he'll be the only one left, until the main Eggman approaches him with the idea of forming a Council of Eggmen to get revenge on Sonic and friends.
- Jossed. Episode eight is the end of season one, and all five members are still present.
- As with Eggman in an above WMG, Tails, Rouge, Knuckles, and Amy Rose were shattered. Some of the aspects are ones Sonic never realized, such as Forest!Tails not knowing everything, even being afraid to ask.
- This goes extra for Amy Rose. We will see one cheerful Amy - Black Rose, the pirate - while the rest are threats or problems that Sonic must deal with. Once he gets the Paradox Prism reassembled - and with it, Green Zone, his friends, and Eggman - he gains a new appreciation for Amy Rose and inquires if she wants to talk about her feelings, asking her about the parts of her that she's been repressing.
- Rather, almost everyone has either been sent to another Shatterspace or is trapped. Sonic will find the entity responsible, perhaps The Grim's version of Amy Rose, who is able to somewhat see the future and/or has extremely perceptive intuition, and has tarot motifs or uses tarot for her predictions.
- The show confirms that the Council had the red shard for years but never knew about the rest of the shatter verse until Sonic came along. It’s possible Mr. Dr. Eggman used the shard’s powers to make clones of himself, but they were imperfect and aged at different rates.
- After obtaining all of the shards, Sonic will have a mode called Prime Sonic. Since the Paradox Prism has the power to create possibilities by creating new universes and powers, Prime Sonic will have the power to negate possibilities by removing the effects of causes like Gold Experience Requiem. Using this ability, Sonic will negate the derivative realities of the original universe, merging the timelines into the original universe.
- It's the only universe that has any Eggmen, and it's basically what the original universe would look like had Sonic not been there to stop Eggman while the other universes seem to be different from the universe just because they're alternate universes. Events also played out similarly like Tails being bullied but gave different results. Sails and Mangey don't seem to have been bullied or affected by the lack of Sonic. It's also the universe that's getting the most focus.
- Jossed: "Ghost Hill" is the closest to the original universe, caught in a state of pre-development.
- As an alternate take to the above theory, the Grim is the original universe, rendered a lifeless husk after the Paradox Prism shattered and took all aspects of the original to create the Shatterspaces. Bringing the Paradox Prism's shards to the Grim will restore it to life and recreate Sonic's home.
- Jossed: Ghost Hill fills this role rather than the Grim due to its incomplete nature.
- To clarify, he probably will escape, but not for a long time. The writers have mentioned Shadow is incredibly hard to write for and that is why he hasn’t been included in the plot as much as the other characters. It's therefore possible Shadow simply can't enter Shatterspaces no matter what to justify keeping his role minimized. However, with Sonic unlikely to remain in the void but aware of Shadow's survival, he may try contacting his rival more frequently until he is able to escape.
- Seemingly jossed due to a promotional image for the second season showing Shadow underwater somewhere that appears to be No Place, or at least very unlikely to be part of the void.
- Confirmed: Even after stealing Nine's tech, Shadow cannot pass through the gates into the Shatterspaces. The only exception is Ghost Hill due to its incomplete nature.
- Once the Paradox Prism is reassembled, Nine will attempt to seize it just as he did the red shard so he can use it to create a world to his liking. While Sonic will try to get him to let them use the prism to restore the Prime universe, nothing about Nine indicates he'd wish to either fade from existence or merge with the other Tails variants for his Prime Counterpart's sake. It's entirely possible he'll even resent Tails Prime for having the better life and resolve to keep the universes shattered in order to keep Sonic for himself.
- Alternatively he'll assist Sonic in trying to restore the Prime universe, which is much more idyllic than his. Secretly though he will be attempting to imprison and exile his own counterparts, keeping them from merging with him to form Tails Prime. Sonic's refusal to sacrifice the other Tailses will cause Nine to throw a cosmic temper tantrum, setting up the final conflict.
- Semi Confirmed: Nine does want the Prism to make his perfect World in The Grim. It’s only implied that he suspects that he will cease to exist if Green Hill is restored. Though it’s unclear if he’ll be the final antagonist or not. Nine so far, only seems to really dislike Tails.
- It’s been confirmed in interviews that Sonic Prime is canon to the games and takes place some time after Sonic Frontiers. On top of that there are statues resembling the ones from the game surrounding the blue shard in No Place. Maybe the Paradox Prism has a connection to the Ancients, who came from another planet that might have been in another universe.
- On top of all of that, there's a dimension in the show called "The Grim", which is accessed through a purple portal, and is a deserted wasteland, as if a void had consumed it. Does this remind you of anything?
- Jossed. Ian Flynn states Sonic Prime takes place after Sonic Advance 3.
This could solve the Shadow is difficult to write problem as having him beating up tons of robots to protect people is perfectly in character and grounding him in New Yolk City keeps him away from the active plot until they need him. It would also make sense story wise as Shadow's power aiding the Rebels, combined with Rusty Rose's capture, would force the Chaos Council to divide their forces. At least one of their number would need to remain behind in New Yolk City to keep it under control, making Sonic's job easier. This troper sees Babble and Deep staying in New Yolk, that way the other Eggmen, who have yet to fight Sonic, will get the spotlight in the main plot.
- Jossed: Shadow never enters another Shatterspace other than Ghost Hill. However, the Chaos Council follows them into Ghost Hill, letting him fight alongside Sonic against them.
Each world isn't just different sides of the characters, but each one will have one of the friends as the BBEG of that shard at some point.
Note the worlds we've seen so far:
- Jungle: Amy has become a monster.
- Pirates: Knux seemed to be going full Gollum as Sonic vanished.
- New Yoke City: Season 1 ended with Nines technically the prisoner of the Chaos Council, but the Council is basically asking Nines on how to do what they want to do. It's only a step or two from Nines taking control of the Council and/or city.
Worlds that likely exist, but not yet seen:
- Rouge
- Big
Worlds that may not exist:
- Sonic: May or may not have one due to being at the the shattering
- Eggman: May or may not have one due to being at the the shattering
- Shadow: If the worlds are imprinted on people in the vicinity, the empty world Nines likes may have been Shadows world if he hadn't chaos controlled past the imprinting process.
- Jossed: Mr. Dr. Eggman creates Chaos Sonic, though he does get the inspiration for the idea from Nine.
- Semi-Jossed, Sonic does feel terrible, but he doesn't cry, and he quickly asks Shadow how to fix the problem.
So it could be likely that each of them could team up together with one another including Sonic and Shadow on stopping The Eggman Council from taking over the Shatterverse.
- Confirmed: Rusty Rose is abandoned by the Chaos Council and so becomes a member of Dread's Crew to take revenge. Dread ends up in New Yoke City chasing after "his beauty" and helps fight Chaos Sonic.
- Confirmed! Sort of. They're alive, but they've been reduced to phantoms spouting the same line over and over again.
- Sort of. According to Ian Flynn, the show takes place after Sonic Advance 3.
- Confirmed!
- Furthermore, I think it’s quite likely that the Paradox Prism might have been a creation of the Ancients. The way Sonic’s friends are in Ghost Hill is reminiscent of the cages from Frontiers, and the name Chaos Council seems to imply that the prism uses a form of chaos energy. Perhaps the Prism was created as an experiment to combine chaos and order, with them using it as a blueprint to eventually invent Cyberspace.
- Semi-confirmed, since Nine's villainous arc didn't last long.
- Although pissed off, I don’t think Shadow will do that since it’s not really POSSIBLE. Remember the whole reason that he’s working with Sonic in the first place is because he’s physically incapable of entering the Shatterspaces himself so there’s no way he could follow Nine into one.
- Jossed. Promos show Sonic and him in the Grim fighting against Nine’s robot army.
- Kinda confirmed, since when Sonic (in a weakened state) returned to his original dimension, everything came full circle at the moment Eggman got a hold of the Paradox Prism, but without the Prism itself getting destroyed.
- Mangey was shown to be able to somewhat say the word “Feelings”, so it’s possible that He might eventually be able to say other words.
- Confirmed, though without the speech.
- The shatterspaces will be fused together by the power of the Paradox Prism being unleashed. Leading to the mother of all paradoxes.
The original Sonic will be disturbed by this doppelganger and how Nine treats it as if it were the real Sonic, but Nine will throw his revulsion back in his face; this is exactly how Sonic treated Nine regarding Tails. This will reinforce Sonic's Heel Realization and motivate him further to Take a Third Option regarding the fate of the Shatterverse.
- Confirmed: The Netflix Geekend Clip of season 3 shows Nine creating a copy of Chaos Sonic to fight Sonic and Shadow.
Discovering a whole other world made of the scattered debris of the Shatterverse, Sonic and Shadow will explore this "underworld" to find the Chaos Emeralds and use their power to give them a fighting chance against Nine and the Paradox Prism.
It won't be an either or options. Both the original world and the other worlds will remain. The Blue, Yellow, and Red shards will be used to bring back Green Hill Zone. This is a nod to how Sonic Heroes the video game got the right combination of ingredients to make a Sonic story. The other worlds will stay in intact with the other shards.
As proven back In Situation: Grim, Time goes by differently in each Shatter Space. So why can’t The Grim still be in its early stages? Especially since The Grim doesn’t have a Version of Green Hill yet and Sonic’s gloves and shoes become prism blocks when he’s there.
1. He doesn’t keep his end of any deals unless he’s either A.) feeling guilty or B.) There’s something in it for him.
Sonic’s word to Nine didn’t qualify so he forgot about the part of their deal where he was supposed to go to The Grim and look at Nine’s surprise.
2. Nine made multiple sacrifices for Sonic and/or put Sonic first on multiple occasions but he never made any of his own sacrifices and/or put Nine first.
3. Furthermore There is indeed a high chance that Nine might not survive Prime Tails’s resurrection.
- Semi-confirmed, as it was temporary.
- Jossed. Doesn't happen in the season.
After all, the synopsis states that Sonic has to grapple with the ultimate sacrifice. It’s not a Sacrifice if Nine forcibly removes the energy from Sonic.
- Jossed.
- Jossed. While the Chaos Council do try to steal the Paradox Prism after Nine is talked down, it’s mostly Played for Laughs as they instantly turn on each other and each try to take the Prism for themself, with the heroes watching on in amusement, leading to them being quickly defeated as a result of their infighting and the heroes deciding to step in and gang up on Mr Dr Eggman once he’s the only member left standing. The actual final villain is Eggman Prime after Sonic returns to the newly restored Green Hill.
- Jossed.
- Maybe it was The Chaos Council as they said that they will get revenge on Sonic.
