A vacation turned murder mystery that goes deeper than just a serial bloodbath.
Password is a Furry Visual Novel developed in Ren'Py by Grizz.

This is the story of Dave, an anthropomorphic hyena who has just graduated from school alongside his best friends. To celebrate, they're given an all-expenses-paid, month-long vacation in a luxurious mansion. Unfortunately, as they reminisce about the past one last time, they may lose their future entirely; whoever's arranged this situation has sinister intent, and Dave now find himself in a life-or-death situation that centers around figuring out the password of the mansion's mysterious vault.

Tropes:

  • Armoured Closet Gay: Tyson is one of the love interests, and he's very adamant in the beginning about NOT being attracted to guys, occasionally even being homophobic about it.
  • Battle Butler: Benson is the butler of the Hammond family; he's also a retired assassin, with apparently enough of a reputation that even Memphis tries to careful when dealing with him.
  • Bears Are Bad News: Dominic, a gangster black bear with absolutely no reservations to kill group of innocent young men who just happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.
  • Beary Friendly: Dean, a brown bear one of the love interests, and all around Nice Guy.
  • Beary Funny: Also Dean, though his sense of humor seems to be mostly limited to innuendos and sex jokes.
  • Benevolent A.I.: Zig-Zagged with Thanatos. He is the A.I of the vault working under Roswell's orders to help him save his friends; unfortunately, the way they go about this is orchestrating the murder of one of their friends to save the rest.
  • Beware the Silly Ones : Roswell acts kind of bratty, loves binging on sweets, and tries to spook Orlando with tales of ghosts and the macabre. He is also capable of and willing to kill any single one of his friends, or Benson and Oswin if he can figure out the right series of events to prevent a full-on massacre at the Hammond mansion.
  • Blood Knight: Jack seems to be really into the trill of hunting down and killing people.
  • The Butler Did It: Subverted and Zig-Zagged; while he is suspected of being the culprit of first murder, said suspicion is quickly cast doubt upon once he becomes the second murder victim. It later turns out that while not the mastermind, he was a reluctant accomplice from the beginning.
  • Brainy Pig: The Hammonds are a family of boars all of which seem to have genius level intelligence.
  • Bully Turned Buddy: Tyson used to be a bully towards Dave, but by the time the game starts the two have become really good friends.
  • Cast Full of Gay: Of the 14 characters in the game (one of which is an A.I.), 9 are same-sex attracted.
  • Chronic Hero Syndrome: Perhaps one of his biggest flaws, Dave feels the need to take on the responsibility to save everyone, even when others around him tell him he doesn't need to/can't/shouldn't. Though he angsts about it he always takes the chance to risk his life for others. Roswell even claims this is the reason he kept Dave in the dark about his plans, because in any timeline where he does give Dave full disclosure, he inevitably gets himself killed in a Heroic Sacrifice.
  • Cloudcuckoolander's Minder: Dominic to Memphis and especially Jack.
  • Deadly Road Trip: The cast spend the majority of the game inside a beautiful mansion for fun and relaxation. However, should you fail entering a password at the vault, at least one of them will get killed off.
  • Delightful Dragon: Orlando is a dragon and Dave's best friend and potencial love interest, one of the friendliest characters in the game, but Beware the Nice Ones.
  • The Don: Memphis, he is the current head of the Noble mafia.
  • Dragons Are Demonic: Memphis, he's Orlando's dad, like his son he is dragon, unlike his son he is a sociopathic, ruthless mob boss.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: Dominic and Jack towards each other. They are mobsters that don't care or even actively enjoy having to kill innocent people due to their jobs, and yet Dominic goes to great lengths, even practically betraying his boss to keep Jack out of harms way, including sacrificing his life to save Jack, who on the other hand becomes noticeably unhinged and even suicidally reckless in any timeline where Dominic dies.
  • Family Relationship Switcheroo: Oswin is Roswell's biological father, but despite how much he wanted to be a father, he wasn't emotionally capable of doing so at the time Roswell was born, so he gave him to his sister to raise as her own.
  • Fantastic Racism: Against rabbits by Oswin and his father.
  • Gayngster: Jack and Dominic are two violent unrepentant mobsters, and they are in a relationship, thought they keep it unofficial, most likely due to their boss' homophobia.
  • Gentle Giant: Sal, he is a crocodile and the physically taller of the main cast, with a muscular build, and while Beware the Nice Ones, he proves himself a kind and compassionate friend/lover.
  • Gluttonous Pig: Both Oswin and Roswell, they are both boars with big Sweet Tooth, often doing things like eating candy, cake and children's cereal for breakfast despite being adults.
  • Green Gators: Sal is a dark teal crocodile, real world crocodiles are usually olive green or brown.
  • Hair-Raising Hare: Jack, he is a rabbit, and a sadistic, unhinged murderer and mobster.
  • Happily Adopted: Florencia, was adopted into the Hammonds and is perfectly happy aside some drama unrelated to her adoption.
  • Hello, [Insert Name Here]: Older builds of the game used to have it so that Dave can be named whatever the player writes, but this was cut out of later builds. The later builds do have a subverted example where Roswell gives Dave a cup of coffee at the beginning and the player can type what the name is, only for Dave to get annoyed if the name is anything but his. There is also special dialogue if the name is one of Dave's friends.
  • If It's You, It's Okay: Tyson's attitude in dating Dave, is implied that he might be demisexual as he later claims to never had been attracted to anyone besides Dave before.
  • The Jeeves: Benson,he is the Hammond's family loyal butler, Dave even calls him Jeeves before learning his real name.
  • Like a Son to Me: Oswin's parents were very emotionally distant, and left the job raising their kids to their butler Benson, Oswin and Benson are very explicit about raving a father-son rather than a boss-employee relationship.
  • Maligned Mixed Marriage: Flora (boar) marries a rabbit despite her father and brother's prejudice.
  • Multiple Endings: The game has multiple endings based on how many of Dave's friends you save and the choices you make. The game itself actually recommends getting all of these endings as they reveal more about the story and characters.
  • National Animal Stereotypes: The Noble family are Japanese eastern dragons, although they do have some characteristics from western dragons.
  • Not Blood Siblings: Dave and Tyson. They are neither biologically or legally siblings, but they consider and refer to each other as such, Dave's father also considered Tyson his son and was planning to adopt him before his death, and Tyson is even officially adopted into the Halloway family in multiple endings. Yet Tyson is also a dateable character, and the one Dave ultimately chooses in the true ending.
  • Our Dragons Are Different: The dragons in this world seem like anthropomorphized eastern dragons (lack of wings, short deer-like antlers, lion/wolf-like face), but they have some characteristics of western dragons (breathing fire, compulsion to hoard treasure), and their life-spans are centruries-long.
  • Pig Man: The Hammonds, are a family of anthropomorphic boars.
  • A Pig Named "Porkchop": A family of boars named (Ham)mond, a dragon family named Noble, Dean (Orso)n is a bear (orso means "bear" in Italian), and Tyson GREY is a wolfdog.
  • Pragmatic Villainy: Dominic, one of Memphis' minions, tries to resolve the situation without bloodshed and keeps his boss and Jack in check, but he makes it clear it's not because of any sympathy for our main characters, but he does it because 1- it would be to much of a hassle to arrange for the cover-up of the murders and 2- because he fears for Jack's life if the situation turns violent.
  • The Quiet One: Sal, he is a man of few words, he might have communication issues as he often ask for time (sometimes days) to "find the right words" before talking about heavy or difficult subjects.
  • Sadist: Jack, he's a unrepentant murderer who takes pleasure on causing suffering to his victims, in his introductory scene, despite being able to easily kill Dave at any time he instead hounds him and tries to let him get as close to safety as possible before going for the kill and he somehow manages to become even more unhinged in if Dom dies.
  • Savage Wolves: Zig-Zagged with Tyson, he can live up to this trope at his worst, but despite the ocasional relapse, by the time the story begins he's already trying to get better.
  • Sinister Swine: Zig-Zagged with Roswell, he's the mastermind behind the murders of all his friends (sans Dave), Benson and Oswin across countless timelines, and yet he's a Well-Intentioned Extremist whose ultimate go is to find a way out the death loop he and his friends found themselves stuck in.
  • Straight Gay: Pretty much all the gay/bi characters, even those more on the flamboyant side like Orlando and Hoss never make the jump to full Camp Gay.
  • Single-Target Sexuality: Tyson is this towards Dave, explicitly stating to never had sexual/romantic feelings towards anyone else; this is most likely due to his implied demisexuality.
  • The Social Expert: Hoss, he is by far the most people savvy, of the friend group.
  • The Syndicate: The Noble mafia, (that's even the name of the (planned) sequel.
  • Well-Intentioned Extremist: Roswell, murders countless people (mostly his own friends) with the goal of finding a timeline where Dave can survive (and as much of his other friends he can also save).
  • Yakuza: The Noble crime family, is a family of mostly Japanese dragons.
  • Zodiac Motifs: Dave and his friends are tasked to get a set of medals themed out of the western zodiac, how/when/with whom you found a medal has thematic significance with the situation in question, causing each medal to be associated with certain characters:
    • Aries: Thanatos.
    • Taurus: varies, but mostly Tyson.
    • Gemini: Tyson and Dave.
    • Cancer: Roswell.
    • Leo: the Hammond siblings.
    • Virgo: Dave.
    • Libra: Hoss.
    • Scorpio: Roswell.
    • Sagittarius: Dave.
    • Capricorn: Sal.
    • Aquarius: Orlando.
    • Pisces: Dean.
    • Ophiucus: Oswin.
