"They didn't want to play with me. What a pity... But I will always find more souls to play with... right?"
—Crimtake at the beginning of SALLY: Broken Heart / Sally.EXE [Retake]

SONIC Lost Drive is a Sonic.exe fangame series made by NotSoDevy, which aims to recreate some original games in a whole new light and bringing a fresh experience to the table overall.

Included Content

These games contain the following tropes:

General

  • Adaptation Deviation: What this series stands for. Aside from the overall cast, absolutely nothing is identical to the original creepypasta, introducing new levels and scenarios overall.
  • Named by the Adaptation: In this retake, the Sonic.exe present in this game is known as "Crimtake".

SONIC: New Beginning

  • Adaptation Expansion: SONIC: New Beginning has been confirmed to also cover SONIC (Chinelin) and The Blue Pendrive as a buildup to the actual Sonic.exe content.

SALLY: Broken Heart / Sally.EXE [Retake]

  • Art Shift: The jumpscare at the very end of the game uses a mix of pixel art, hand-drawn art and a 3D model.
  • Call-Back: The game itself lacks any connection to the original overall. That said, it does reference the original in places.
    • After Amy/Marie is decapitated and killed, Crimtake taunts her by claiming that she "will NEVER be perfect", a call-back to the "Not Perfect" level from the original.
    • Before the death of Sally/Rachel, Crimtake addresses her with "Sally, my love" before kissing her, a direct inverse of the original "Sonic, my love" line from the original creepypasta.
  • Downer Ending: Due to this being a classic Sonic.exe game, it comes with the territory. All of the victims are killed off, and Crimtake sets his sights on the player themselves.
  • Easter Egg:
    • The Sound Test is present on the main menu, but it quickly proves to be non-functional, as all selected numbers instead play static on loop. Before the playthrough of Sally and Tiara, however, it will instead play some distorted speech.
    • In Peaceful Hill, if you go to the right instead of immediately following "Sonic" when he runs to the left, you can find Tails's corpse hanging from a tree, which is quickly gone after a brief bout of static.
    • Attempting to replay as an already-killed victim too much will cause their distorted soul to appear on-screen for a moment with a distorted scream.
  • Enraged by Idiocy: Jumping down the pits in Peaceful Hill one too many times will have Crimtake call you out on this before closing the game on you.
  • Evolving Title Screen: Well, main menu, per se. But as the victims are killed off one-by-one, the menu becomes darker and darker each time.
  • Player Nudge: If you haven't figured out what to do to access the true final part of the game, Crimtake will address you through the menu screen and automatically switch the option to Tiara for you.
"How have you not figured it out yet? There's one more victim to play with. Here, let me show you."
  • Shout-Out:
"When you're ready, send in the last one, and let's end this futile struggle... TOGETHER."
    • The ending jumpscare is directly inspired by An Ordinary Battle Amongst Familiar Hills, right down to the messages spawning all over the screen.
  • Take That!: This retake doesn't hesitate to prod fun at the original creepypasta's plagiarism wherever it can.
    • In the tie-in video for the game, Crimtake proclaims that his past tricks were stolen from... somewhere.
    • The text file that pops up on conclusion of the game mentions that Crimtake mixed it up this time to avoid being repetitive in his ways.
  • Wham Line: After Sally/Rachel is killed by Crimtake, you'd think that is it for the game, right? However, Crimtake proclaims that you're not done just yet, and to come back later. Open the game again afterwards, and you'll find there's one last victim to play with, that being Tiara.
