The overworld burns.

Hearts of Minecraft is a Game Mod for Hearts of Iron IV that is set in a completely original world inspired by Minecraft and as such is a complete overhaul of the game.

It has been 400 years since the First Nether War where players, villagers, and illagers alike fought together and the Overworld is not in great shape. The Southern Player Empire, formed in the aftermath of the war, is declining in power. Their brothers in Imperia aren't doing so well either, and revolution seems to be on the Horizon. The kingdom to the east, the Fallen Kingdom, used to be a powerhouse but the reigns of corrupt kings and queens have reduced them to a kingdom barely clinging on to life with only a few villages to its name. The Southern Player Empire's Puppet State the Villager Confederation is under attack from both the Ominous Legion and the Sisterhood. Worse still, reports are coming in of activity near the abandoned Nether portals, which doesn't mean anything good.

The mod can be downloaded here.

Hearts of Minecraft contains examples of:

  • Anarchy Is Chaos: The majority of the Nether is in complete chaos, with Piglin hordes, Striders, and Endermen all fighting for dominance.
  • The Alliance: The Southern Protection Pact, which comprises the Southern Player Empire, the Villager Union, and numerous other villages.
  • Always Chaotic Evil: The zombies and the Piglins carry this over from the source material. It's actually Subverted for the Illagers and Witches, who are portrayed as Well-Intentioned Extremists that blame the players for the Overworld's pitiful state.
  • The Hedonist: Polski Crafter, the leader of the Red Rose Union, has the "Hedonist" trait. It has a negative effect on gameplay.
  • How the Mighty Have Fallen: The Fallen Kingdom was formerly an economic and military powerhouse known as the Eastern Kingdom, but the reigns of corrupt kings and queens have reduced to them to well... a fallen kingdom that is just barely staving off a demise. By the start of the game, The Undead Lands have successfully taken over half the country and are on track to ending the kingdom entirely.
  • Names to Run Away from Really Fast: The Ominous Legion, which is in practice a group of Illager extremists who are fighting the villager-led confederation.
  • Neutral No Longer: At the start of the game, the Free Villages scattered around the Overworld remain neutral and mind their own affairs...unless the Ominous Legion and the Sisterhood win the Civil War against the Villager Confederation. This leads to the Ominous Council sending requests to the numerous Free Villages to join their Ominous Consortium, in an attempt to stand up to the players.
  • Satanic Archetype: Hades, a vengeful Piglin who wants to take revenge on the Players for the First Nether War, definitely fits the bill. He can even become the leader of the Minecraft equivalent to Hell!
  • Shout-Out: Entire countries are Mythology Gags to various works of the Minecraft community.
