Video Game / Friday Night Funkin': MOB MOD

Go To

Friday Night Funkin' Mob Mod is a Minecraft-themed Friday Night Funkin' Game Mod created by TheGaboDiaz and TracedInPurple. It's a successor to another mod developed by TheGaboDiaz, that being Vs. Steve.

During one Minecraft session building a car (and getting into an argument with Steve over his apparent lack of knowledge about cars), BF and GF suddenly find themselves with the goal of killing the Ender Dragon. And as for how BF plans to do that... well, the microphone in hand says it all. Along the way, the couple must face off against a variety of mobs that'll get in the way of their goals.

This mod provides the following tropes:

  • Barely Missed Cushion: Post-"Spawners", BF attempts to do the Soft Water landing trick onto the Deep Dark fortress below with a thrown bucket of water, but ends up crashing face-first several blocks ahead of the resulting water flow.
  • Couch Gag: The mod features both the typical opening lines of FNF before the title screen, plus a variety of splash text showing on the main menu next to the FRIDAY NIGHT FUNKIN' text, akin to Minecraft's own main menu.
  • Funny Background Event:
    • Right as BF indicates how he plans to defeat the Ender Dragon (holding up his microphone, implying he intends to fight it via rap battle), Steve and Alex can be seen reacting to this with a face palm and a shocked, mouth agape look respectively.
    • Far off to the right throughout "Raid" an Illager is balancing atop a pillar of cobblestone to avoid an Iron Golem. By the following animation with the song's conclusion, the Iron Golem manages to apprehend and subsequently pummel them while BF and GF make their getaway.
  • Gradual Regeneration: The standard FNF health bar is effectively replaced with a Minecraft-themed health system. Half a heart of ten is removed for each note missed, with the only way to recover health being to either hit enough notes to accumulate saturation points, or with the use of one Potion of Regeneration per song.
  • Mythology Gag: The semi-animated set-pieces for the chapter select screen takes from the presentation of the same chapters from Minecraft: Story Mode.
  • One-Hit Kill: Let the Warden get off its telegraphed attack without Throwing the Distraction, and it'll obliterate BF, forcing a Game Over.
  • Random Event: BF's Barely Missed Cushion stunt above has a small chance for the text "*Boyfriend fell like Lego bricks" to display in the chat.
  • Shout-Out: The Skeleton's segment in the song "Spawners" primarily consists of using the melody from "Spooky Scary Skeletons" by Andrew Gold.
  • Skippable Boss: If you expend all your snowballs used to distract the Warden in "Deep Dark", the song will immediately end with BF making their leave stage left.
  • Tempting Fate: By the end of "Raid", BF thinks that he's in the clear once he remarks "well that was easy". Cue the sudden barrage of Shield Notes.
  • Throwing the Distraction: Throughout "Deep Dark", BF has a stack of snowballs, which are used to distract the Warden from winding up an attack that'll insta-kill BF.
  • You Have GOT to Be Kidding Me!: GF has this moment upon learning that, despite making it their goal to kill the Ender Dragon, BF neglected to bring a sword with him. Doubly so, given the sticky situation they both find themselves in at the moment (being held hostage by a bunch of Illagers).
<Girlfriend> We´re on our way to kill a WHOLE ASS DRAGON
<Girlfriend> AND YOU FORGOT YOUR SWORD!?
    <Boyfriend> whoopsieesss
  • Zero-Effort Boss: "Portal" has no consequence of missing notes, as it's just BF singing solo while GF takes the time to mine up the obsidian needed to make the Nether portal.
