Trivia / Yoshi's Woolly World

Go To

  • Creator-Driven Successor: To both the original Yoshi's island game for gameplay and story, and Kirby's Epic Yarn for aesthetics.
  • Dummied Out:
    • The game's composer Tomoya Tomita uploaded 6 unused tracks meant to appear in this game.
    • A test level involves an Art Shift with a small Yoshi made of yarn running across a non-yarn Japanese girl's room.
  • Early-Bird Cameo: The Woolly World stage in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U is the first instance of a stage being in a Smash Bros. game before the game it's based on releases.
  • Keep Circulating the Tapes: With the Wii U and 3DS Eshop now closed, both versions of this game now have to be played physically. While the 3DS port's prices can be somewhat high, the Wii U version is affordable.
  • Late Export for You: This game released in North America during October 2015, which was about four months after it released elsewhere in the world.
  • Sequel Gap: The last home console Yoshi game was released nearly 18 years prior. The last Yoshi game in general at the time, though, was Yoshi's New Island, which was released in 2014.
  • Urban Legend of Zelda: It's commonly believed around the fandom that the reason why the Pokémon amiibo don't work with this game is because of licensing issues. In reality, they only don't work because the development team found themselves unable to faithfully create Yoshi patterns based on them.
  • What Could Have Been: Design for the game varied wildly in production. The first idea was a sequin Yoshi, followed by a yarn outline form. Then this was changed so Yoshi switches between two forms, a yarn outline form and a full 3D model when he eats an enemy that glows green. The final version of the game has everything perpetually in fully knitted 3D models.
