  • Acting for Two: In the English dub:
    • Chisato Hasegawa, Mio's mother and Basara's younger self are all voiced by Wendee Lee.
    • Takashi Hayase and Mio's father are both voiced by Todd Haberkorn.
    • Takashi's younger self and Zest are played by Julie Ann Taylor.
  • Alan Smithee: In the English dub, Julie Ann Taylor was credited as "Jeannie Howard" for her roles. She used her actual name after taking over as the ADR director for Burst.
  • Banned in China: The series wasn't officially released in Mainland China due to its extensive sexual content.
  • Creator Couple: Cindy Robinson (Kurumi) was dating Christopher Corey Smith (Ramsus) during the English dub's production. They would eventually marry in 2022.
  • Deleted Scene: There were three minutes of extra scenes in the anime that didn't make the broadcast run due to time limitations. These scenes would be restored for its DVD/Blu-ray releases.
  • Directed by Cast Member: The English dub of the first season was directed by Wendee Lee, who voices Chisato Hasegawa, Mio's mother and the younger Basara. For the second season, Burst, Julie Ann Taylor (Zest's VA) replaced Lee as ADR Director.
  • No Dub for You: Though the anime's first two seasons as well as the bonus OVAs were dubbed into English by Crunchyroll, the Departures OVA was released un-dubbed.
  • The Other Darrin: Xanthe Huynh was unavailable to record Yuki's lines for the English dub of Burst due to internal errors, so Kayli Mills replaced her.
  • Production Posse: Several Production IMS regulars who worked on the anime, including director Hisashi Saito, character designer Yoshihiro Watanabe and animation producer Jiyu Ogi, were previously involved with the adaptations of Date A Live and Heaven's Lost Property.
  • Sleeper Hit: When the anime adaptation of The Testament of Sister New Devil premiered in January 2015, the series became an unexpected hit for Production IMS in terms of its high television ratings and eventual DVD/Blu-ray sales. So much so, that a second season titled BURST was produced.
  • Swan Song: Departures was one of the last anime projects Production IMS produced before it shut down on October 11, 2018 owing to financial problems.
  • You Sound Familiar:
    • In the Japanese version, Kenji Nomura voiced Volga in the first anime and would later go on to voice Valga in Burst.
    • In the English dub, Kyle Hebert voiced Zolgia in the first anime and Claus in Burst.
