Dueling Games: Ironically with Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled, as the release date of that game was June 21st, exactly one month after TSR's.
The Other Darrin:
- Dave B. Mitchell replaces Travis Willingham as Knuckles, while Patrick Seitz replaces him as Zavok.
- Erica Lindbeck replaces Laura Bailey as Blaze and Omochao.
- Aaron LaPlante replaces Vic Mignogna as Omega, most likely due to sexual harassment allegations.
- Bryce Papenbrook replaces Quinton Flynn as Silver, also most likely due to allegations.
End of an Age: This was the last game where Ken Pontac and Warren Graff oversaw the English Localization. In addition, it also was the last game to have been released before the franchise’s live action film was released.
Release Date Change: The game was originally going to be released in Winter 2018, but it was delayed to May 21, 2019.

Delayed Release Tie-In: The comic came out in November 2018 to coincide with the game's originally-planned release window. The "Deluxe Turbo Championship Edition", a special reprint that came with bonus features, was put out to promote the game's final release.
Recycled Script: The comic is pretty much the same as the tie-in for Sonic & All-Stars Racing: Transformed: All the heroes are having a good time racing. Eggman butts in and tries to ruin everyone's time. They retaliate and bump him off the road. The racing is counted as a "No Contest" (though in this case due to the coordinator, Dodon Pa, claiming he "wasn't looking" when Sonic and Shadow crossed the finish line) and the comic ends with another race beginning anew (though between Sonic and Shadow this time).
