  • Acting for Two:
    • In addition to performing Kermit the Frog as usual, Jim Henson performs Garth the Frog and King Rupert the Second.
    • Gawain the Frog and Robin the Frog are both performed by Frank Oz, with Jerry Nelson providing the latter character's voice. Nelson would later go on to perform Robin until his retirement in 2003.
    • Jerry Nelson also performs Featherstone and Sweetums, with Canadian actor and broadcaster Carl Banas voicing the latter character.
    • Kay the Frog and the voice of Taminella Grinderfall are both performed by Jerry Juhl.
  • Crosscast Role: As seen under Real-Life Relative below, the male prince Kermit was played by the female Heather Henson.
  • Descended Creator: Jerry Juhl, who wrote the script and the lyrics for the songs, voices Taminella and Kay, marking his last major acting contribution to a Muppet production, before he focused exclusively on writing.
  • Directed by Cast Member: The Frog Prince was directed by Jim Henson, who portrayed Kermit, Garth and King Rupert the Second.
  • International Coproduction: The special was produced by Henson Associates in the U.S. and Lawrence Productions in Canada, and taped in Toronto.
  • Keep Circulating the Tapes: The special was released on VHS, Betamax and LaserDisc in 1983. It was again released on VHS in 1994. However, no DVD or Blu-ray release of this special has been announced, let alone on Disney+.
  • Production Posse: Besides the core Muppet performers, Jim Henson also worked with frequent collaborators like writer Jerry Juhl and Sesame Street composer Joe Raposo on this show. Trudy Young (Princess Melora) had previously been in The Cube.
  • Real-Life Relative: Heather Henson, who played Prince Kermit, is the daughter of Jim Henson.
  • Vindicated by Cable: It got exposure in The '90s from Disney Channel airings, as well as on Nickelodeon's Muppet Matinee block.
