Trivia / Pokémon: Twilight Wings

Go To

  • Blooper: Episode 4 has the only appearance of a Pokémon that isn't available in Pokémon Sword and Shield, Dewgong. The Pokémon Company has issued an apology for this mistake.
  • Casting Gag:
    • Even before the release of Pokémon Sword and Shield, fans noticed a certain similarity between Milo and Mirio Togata from My Hero Academia. Therefore it doesn't seem a coincidence that in Twilight Wings Milo is voiced by Tarusuke Shingaki in the Japanese version.
    • Fans make jokes about (comparisons between) Leon and Leon Kuwata from Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc especially when both characters share the same name (this only applies in the English version of Pokémon). Let’s not forget that both Leons are voiced by Takahiro Sakurai in the Japanese version (in Leon's case, his Twilight Wings counterpart of course.)
  • Fandom Nod: The trio of female trainers being enamored with Wooloo's cuteness may be a reference to the species' sheer amount of online popularity among fans and non-fans alike.
  • The Other Darrin:
    • In the same vein as Origins and Generations, characters that appear in Twilight Wings have been recast with different voice actors from the mainline anime series, with Leon/Dande being voiced by Takahiro Sakurai instead of Daisuke Ono.
      • This trend turns out to extend in the English dub. Leon is voiced by Kai Jordan, instead of Alejandro Saab in the anime.
    • This also applies for Sonia as she is voiced by Lynn instead of Marina Inoue.
    • In the Japanese dub, Bea is voiced by Eri Kitamura. Yōko Hikasa voices Bea in the anime.
    • In the Japanese dub, Raihan is voiced by Kosuke Toriumi. while he's voiced by Tatsuhisa Suzuki in the anime.
  • Playing Against Type: Seriously, did anyone expect Erica Mendez of all people to play Wooloo, a cute, fluffy, adorable sheep?
  • Release Date Change: Episode 5 was delayed by a month due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • Studio Hop: Unlike most Pokemon series, Twilight Wings was produced by Studio Colorido instead of OLM Incorporated.
  • What Could Have Been: Screenwriter Sou Kinoshita laid out three other scenarios that could have been chosen if he was given the chance to do anything he wanted instead of John's story.
