Colbert Bump: The show's popularity over the internet can be attributed to Brad Jones, who is a very big fan of the show and how silly it is.note Brad in fact seems to have it as his second-favorite TV show only behind the slightly longer-lasting Tequila and Bonetti, another show involving animals.
He Also Did: Co-creator Donald R. Boyle went on to work on BaywatchandBaywatch Nights. It's worth noting that future-Baywatch creators Michael Berk and Douglas Schwartz served as writer/producers on Manimal. (It was their first series gig. We all have to start somewhere.)
The Other Darrin: Chase's sidekick Ty changed actors (and level of seriousness) between the pilot (Glynn Turman) and the series regular (Michael D. Roberts).
Recycled Script: In the episode "Female of the Species", a wolf child turns out to be the heir of a murdered co-owner of an aviation company, and the other co-owner wants to finish the job. In 1986, the script was reused, almost scene-for-scene, for an episode of The Wizard called "Endangered Species". And then it was reused AGAIN in 1994 for an episode of Thunder in Paradise, also titled "Endangered Species". The same writers - Michael Berk and Douglas Schwartz - are credited for all three shows.
