Trivia / Looney Tunes Cartoons

Go To

  • Acting for Two:
  • Executive Meddling: Probably the main reason why they had to limit the use of firearms in the first season.
  • Exiled from Continuity: When "Happy Birthday Bugs Bunny" was remade to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Annecy festival, Pepé Le Pew was edited out following his controversy in March of 2021.
  • God Never Said That: When news outlets cited the New York Times interview that firearms weren't going to be featured in the series, a lot of them misreported that Elmer's scythe in "Dynamite Dance" would be his new main weapon instead of his shotgun. However, Elmer only swung that weapon very briefly in that one short alone, which came out a year prior. The premiere shorts, debuting a week before the news, show him using a broader arsenal of tools and weapons. This lines up with what series creator Pete Browngardt actually said in the interview.
  • Meaningful Release Date: Pest Coaster came out on the 75th anniversary of Yosemite Sam's debut.
  • Missing Episode: Daffy in Wackyland was shown at several animation festivals, even getting nominated for an Annie Award, but it did not get included into the released series.
  • The Other Darrin:
    • Original English:
      • Eric Bauza takes over as Bugs, Daffy and Tweety.
      • Writer/Storyboard Artist Michael Ruocco is the new voice of Beaky Buzzard.
      • Fred Tatasciore takes over the voice of Taz from Jim Cummings as well as Sam Sheepdog and Gossamer.
      • Jeff Bergman takes over as Ralph Wolf.
    • Japanese dub:
    • Latin American Spanish dub:
      • Luis Alfonso Mendoza was murdered by his tenant in 2020 before this series entered production. As a result, Bugs Bunny was recast with Miguel de León.
      • Similarly, due to Alfonso Ramírez's passing in April 2019 due to cardiovascular complications, Carlos Reynoso took over the role of Sylvester.
      • From this series onward, Rick Loera was assigned as the voice of Porky, replacing Ernesto Lezama after his retirement from dubbing in 2020.
      • Though Rafael Pacheco dubbed Elmer Fudd in the last episodes of New Looney Tunes, as well as Marvin Martian, Elmer was recast with Carlos Mireles.
      • For unknown reasons, Irene Jiménez did not reprise Granny, after taking the role in the previous series, so the character was recast with Gisela Casillas.
      • An unidentified actor did not reprise Barnyard Dawg, so he was recast with Raúl Solo. Solo himself was replaced by Gerardo Reyero for the second season.
      • For unknown reasons, Maggie Vera did not reprise Petunia Pig, prompting a recast with Pamela Cruz.
      • Production example: The voice director, Miguel Ángel Ghigliazza, was reported to have gone missing on July 16th, 2022, so the voice direction was handled by Gabriel Ortiz from then on.
    • In the Italian dub, the 2023 recast of multiple characters in the core cast (which happened first in other media) was applied to the series starting from season 5:
  • Real-Life Relative: In the Japanese dub, Ryunosuke Yamaguchi voice the Baby Tiger, while his father Kappei Yamaguchi voice Bugs. Curiously enough, this not the first time both father and son had worked together in the same place.
  • Role Reprise: In spite of the numerous Other Darrins,
    • Jeff Bergman is still voicing Sylvester, Elmer Fudd and Foghorn Leghorn, Bob Bergen continues voicing Porky, Eric Bauza still voices Pepe Le Pew and Marvin the Martian, Fred Tatasciore is still Yosemite Sam, and Candi Milo is still Granny.
    • In the Latin Spanish dub, Igor Cruz keeps the voice of Daffy Duck, César Soto is still voicing Yosemite Sam and Taz, Rafael Pacheco continues voicing Marvin, Circe Luna continues voicing Tweety, and Foghorn Leghorn continues to be voiced by Octavio Rojas.
  • Production Posse: A sizable chunk of the crew had previously worked with Pete Browngardt on Uncle Grandpa, including directors David Gemmill, Ryan Kramer, and Kenny Pittenger, voice actor Eric Bauza, and storyboard artists Andy Gonsalves and Chris Allison. Other shows that have sizable chunks of the crew hail from include the post-2nd movie seasons of SpongeBob SquarePants (storyboard artists Caroline Director, Ryan Khatam, and Gabe Del Valle, as well storyboard revisionists Stephen Herczeg and Arielle Phillips) and Wabbit: A Looney Tunes Production (storyboard artists Michael Ruocco, Andrew Dickman, and David Shair, storyboard revisionist Chealsea Holt, and overseas studios Snipple Animation and Yearim Productions).
  • Sleeper Hit: Despite a comparatively minimal presence in HBO Max's advertising campaigns (which largely focused on the availability of Friends, The Big Bang Theory and South Park, the HBO library and movies while promoting Love Life as the flagship original), Looney Tunes Cartoons wound up being the streaming service's most popular title in its opening week, beating both library content and the other originalsnote .
  • What Could Have Been:
    • Per word of artist Ryan Khatam, there were at least one or two shorts that were never completed due to them having too much excessive gunplay and violence in them. This was likely one of the contributing factors to the (somewhat) removal of firearms.
    • "Happy Birthday Bugs Bunny!" was meant to be shown at a Looney Tunes show at the Hollywood Bowl but was cancelled due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.
  • Working Title: Shoe Shine-anigans was originally called "Quack In One's Shoes", "If The Shoe Spits", and "Polishing A Bird".
