Trivia with Their Own Pages

  • Approval of God: Jello seems to love seeing fanart of the show, even reblogging any that he gets to see on his tumblr with the tag "you're a cool dude drawing person".
  • Artist Disillusionment: Jello has a few issues with certain aspects of the fandom.
    • As stated here, while he enjoys AUs fine enough since he views them as fun what-ifs, he dislikes headcanons for the most part since he sees them as people cherry-picking the bits of canon that they want to be true while ignoring the work as a whole. He mainly has issues with sexuality and gender-based headcanons, since he finds it weird and regressive to assign someone a sexuality or gender that they canonically aren't. That being said, he isn't against headcanons as a concept, he's just not very interested in them.
    • The Trans-Giovanni headcanon, in particular, is one he legitimately hates as it mainly stems from Giovanni having some traditionally feminine traits, like his motherly nature and sewing skills. Jello finds it weird, regressive, and sexist to suggest that Giovanni being comfortable with expressing his more feminine traits means he was assigned female at birth.
Jello: Giovanni is a cis male. The whole point of Giovanni is that he's a teenage boy who is comfortable and open with his own femininity, which is something I wish I saw more in media. He's emotionally intelligent. He wants people to talk about their feelings. He paints his nails. He's the team mom. He's a guy, and he's cool with all of that. He's not "secretly trans because he has traditionally feminine traits". What? What even?
  • Ascended Fanon: A particular roleswap AU by Spliinkles was slightly canonized, by making "Hotshot" (the equivalent of "Bear Trap" for Giovanni in Molly's role) the Banzai nickname that canon Giovanni wanted to have.
  • Creator's Favorite: Molly is Jello's overall favorite character in the show, though he also loves Arnold to a lesser degree. Additionally, Phoenica and Yoomtah are his self admitted "pet" characters.
  • Creator's Pest: According to Jello, every artist and animator who worked on the show hated Indus due to his detailed design and awkward size compared to the other characters.
  • Descended Creator: Brendan Blaber voices a lot of bit parts, including Ben of the Banzai Blasters, Bill (a cop extra in "Reflection"'s credits), Giovanni's mother, and the Sky Watcher.
  • Doing It for the Art: According to Jello, making the animated series cost him $120,000 that he'll probably never made back. When asked why he bothered making it if he knew it would likely never turn a profit, he replied, "Have you never wanted to make a fucking cartoon?"
  • The Other Darrin: In the last episode of the series, Phoenica and Rick Shades are voiced by Emily Fajardo and Jay Barrett respectively, but in Prison of Plastic, they are instead voiced by Bryn Apprill and Ray Chase.
  • Queer Character, Queer Actor:
    • Trixie, who is non-binary and genderfluid, is voiced by genderfluid asexual actor Oz Ryan (who also goes by Siv and SpectralFusion).
    • Percival and her voice actress, Sandra Espinoza, are both asexual.
    • Naven and his voice actor, Brendan Blaber, are both bisexual.
  • Real-Life Relative: Oz Ryan and William T. Sopp, Trixie and Ramsey's VAs respectively, are engaged together.
  • Role Reprise: Not counting Brendan's various bit parts, only three of the players from Anime Campaign have thus far reprised their roles for Epithet Erased: Zack Maher (Sylvie), William T. Sopp (Ramsey), and Siv Ryan (Trixie). While Jay Barrett did reprise his role as Rick Shades in the season one finale, Ray Chase took the role for the audio books due to Jay not feeling qualified for the job.
  • Rule 34 – Creator Reactions: Jello doesn't mind Rule 34 unless it's of Molly, in which case he hates it with a burning passion and is annoyed that other characters, like Zora and Mera, aren't getting lewded instead. He's also confused as to why there's more porn of Bugsy than there is of Mera.
  • Self-Adaptation: Epithet Erased is a much more professional adaptation of Anime Campaign, a TTRPG show that Jello once ran.
  • Shrug of God:
    • Jello "thinks" that Giovanni is 19, and he believes Zora, Percy, and Ramsey to be 31, 29, and 34 respectively. He doesn't know for sure since other members of the show staff created those characters.
    • In regards to there being LGBTQ+ characters in the show, Jello once said the following to say about Arnold in particular (though he later changed his mind on this topic and made more characters queer, some of which are explicitly described as such in-story).
Jello: In my head Arnold might be gay but I can guarantee that it will never come up in-universe so he might as well not be.
    • Some from the official FAQ:
      Q: What is [CHARACTER]’s birthday/height/weight/favorite snack/etc.?
A: I have honestly never thought about these things and do not have an answer for you.
Q: Can you tell me more about Giovanni’s group of Banzai Blasters?
A: Dude I don’t know anything about these guys. These six were 100% characterized by their actors in the booth. Moments like Crusher’s “I LOVE YOU!!!” and subsequent crush on Giovanni were improvised. I don’t know their real names. I don’t know if they have epithets. I have put no more thought into these six people than what you see on screen and have no idea how to answer these questions.
  • Throw It In!: Crusher's crush on Giovanni only happened because Caleb Yen ad-libbed the "I LOVE YOU!" line during a recording. Meg McClain was in the studio, so they had her record the "I LOVE YOU MORE" line to bring the scene together, and Crusher's fitting name was a coincidence.
  • What Could Have Been: According to the art book, Giovanni was supposed to wear more casual clothes during the second half of the series, but time and budget constraints made it unfeasible to redraw his portraits, resulting in him having a Limited Wardrobe and just wearing his Banzai Blasters uniform.
  • Word of Gay:
    • The official FAQ confirms that Arnold (despite previous statements) and Crusher are gay, Giovanni and Zora are bisexual, and Percy and Howie are asexual, with Howie also being aromantic.
    • Per this Tumblr post, Phoenica is bisexual and Trixie is pansexual.
    • Additionally, this Twitter post confirms that Molly is asexual and Trixie is nonbinary. He also revealed in a Twitch stream that Trixie's pronouns are "they/she"; this was later fully confirmed in Prison of Plastic.
    • This Twitter post confirms that Naven is bisexual.
  • Working Title: During production, the show was codenamed "Sugar Cookie Jazz", as the title "Epithet Erased" had to be kept semi-private for contract reasons.
  • Write What You Know: Jello suffers from misophonia as Molly does, and in his own words: "honestly Molly is just me venting."
