Awesome moments in Epithet Erased

    open/close all folders

The web series

    General
  • Basically, when a scene is fully animated (courtesy of Powerhouse Animation), expect it to be an awesome moment.
  • The creative uses characters with high creativity find to their seemingly useless Epithets in fights almost always lead to awesome moments, and are in fact part of the climaxes of the first two arcs of the series.

Episode 1: Quiet At The Museum
  • Mera and Indus' dual tech: "Scattergun" taking out three of Giovanni's minions.
  • Molly using her epithet to keep Giovanni's attack from harming Mera.

    Episode 2: Bear Trap
  • Giovanni saving Molly from Sylvie's Nightmare Fuel-induced ring of fire by using "Teleports Behind You" to jump to safety, showing just how much he cares for her.
Giovanni: I think I've had just about enough of you, guy! You made my minion cry! NOBODY makes my minions cry except ME!
  • Later, with the help of Molly, he uses a critical hit from his Soul Crusher to hit Sylvie with a ball of yarn he had on hand.

Episode 3: The Doctor Is In
  • Molly using the fire alarm to wake up Sylvie, causing Dr. Beefton to disappear.

    Episode 4: Reflection
  • Molly tricks Indus into undoing the barrier he had used to imprison the Banzai Blasters by hopping on top of it and saying how she sure hopes that nothing happened to it. Naturally, Indus falls for it and dismisses the barrier, allowing Giovanni's boys to escape, and buy Molly enough time to get to the air vent.
  • Sylvie and Mera's fight. Sylvie actually backs up his boasts about being a highly trained Epithet user by keeping Mera, who can beat Indus in one blow, on her toes during the whole fight, even without using Dream Big.
    • Mera also deserves a mention. Despite the raw power of her Epithet, she's able to use it very creatively, swooping in for a swift win when Sylvie decides to commit fully to a war of attrition by manifesting ice skates and a spike. She also demonstrates very impressive Villainous Valour, mentioning that half of her bones are broken and continuing to fight anyway, and intentionally breaking two of her fingers to defeat Dr. Beefton.
  • Sylvie, despite having been beaten by her, still stops Mera from taking Molly's epithet. Granted, it doesn't last for long, and he ends up with his Epithet stolen, but it was still a very brave act that cements his status as a friend in Molly's regards.
  • Quite easily how Giovanni and Molly manage to defeat Mera. Mera, just about to take Molly’s epithet, starts getting so wrapped up in Evil Gloating about how she’ll finally be free from her chronic pain once she has it that she doesn’t realize Molly’s muted her hearing so she can’t hear Giovanni sneaking up behind her. When Mera finally stops talking and realizes she can’t hear anything, Molly gives Giovanni the signal to attack, allowing him to use his Soul Crusher to land a critical hit on Mera and send her flying into a wall. The fact that this scene is fully animated adds to its impact, as does Giovanni's Bond One-Liner.
Giovanni: Now that's what I call a Bear Trap!
    Molly: Rawr! (giggles)

    Episode 5: Redwood Run
  • Percy taking out a group of Banzai Blasters off-screen.

Episode 6: All's Well That Ends Well
  • Ramsey manages to weaponize crayons at one point (by turning the tips to gold and sharpening them like darts) and do actual damage to Pugsy.
  • Giovanni managing to one-up Pugsy and Arnold after they humiliated him earlier by heating the bartender's soup to be so hot, Pugsy couldn't eat it and use his epithet, and then lodging him under a table so he will no longer be a threat. Afterwards, none of the minions dare attack him, and he neutralises Arnold by wetting his coupons with soup.
  • Howie taking out three Banzai Blasters at once by bending his wrench, throwing it like a boomerang, and bending it back to its normal shape, an incredible demonstration of how powerful he is despite being a mundie.
    • Immediately after that we see Howie's stats which fill up slowly in all areas before it pauses, before his stamina and his proficiency quickly rise up not one rank but two. As a cherry on top, his stamina maxes out. Not bad for a mundie.
      • For bonus points, this is how we learn that the in-universe stats have ranks at all.
    • Howie's sheer skill at construction leads Ramsey to initially mistake him for someone with a building epithet before Percy sets him straight. His talent doesn't come from any kind of superpower, just determination and hard work. Lots of hard work.
Ramsey: You, uh... You know this guy?
Percy: Indeed. Howie Honeyglow. Contractor and builder-for-hire. In addition to my policework, I do some architectural consultation on the side. Howie and I often find ourselves applying for the same positions. He's one of the best.
Howie: Have to be if you wanna stay alive in this business. If someone else can throw up a building in two hours with their epithet, that just means we gotta do it in one.

    Episode 7: Winner Take All
  • Ramsey's Indy Ploy to take down a raging, sword-wielding Zora. Let's go through it step-by-step:
    • First, Ramsey gets Percy to unlock her end of the eraser cuffs and tells her to build as many wizard towers as she can, regardless of stamina.
    • Second, to prevent Zora from killing Percy while she's doing that, he leaps in the way and gets his cuffed arm cut off.
    • Third, before Zora's Time Master powers can turn his body to dust, Ramsey turns his dismembered limb and the rest of his body to gold.
    • And finally, while she's distracted, Ramsey reattaches his arm, rushes in and bear hugs Zora, and...
Zora: What? You think I can't age you just 'cause you're metal? Well you're wrong!
As she struggles to break free, Zora activates her epithet... but nothing happens.
    Zora: ...c'mon, what is this!?
Ramsey: Quick lesson from a professional appraiser: Pure gold never corrodes! But it does make for a pretty good conductor... Idn't that right, Percy?!
A small army of wizard towers burst out of the trees and ground around an exhausted Percy.
Percy: Fire. (collapses onto the ground)
Zora: Aw shi- (screams in pain)
    • Even more awesome? He actually managed to grab the amulet and swap it for a fake at the same time!
    • Credit where credit's due: when Ramsey starts putting his plan together, Percy says that summoning even one or two wizard towers would cause her to pass out. She manages to scrape together enough energy to summon at least eight.
