Trivia / Dragon Ball Online

Go To

  • Dummied Out: There's evidence of a Saiyan/Human Hybrid Mechanic class in-game, along with Mech Maniac and Gun Maniac sub-classes, but as the data was far from complete, and NetMarble ceased work on the game, it's unlikely they'll come to fruition even in the Fan Remake.
  • Exiled from Continuity: NetMarble only had the rights to the original Dragon Ball manga and Toei Animation's character Bardock, not the anime adaptations. This means characters and events from the Anime First Sequel Series Dragon Ball GT are ignored despite the game taking place centuries after the manga's ending, Yardratians have a design by series creator Akira Toriyama completely different from how they looked in the anime, Goku's childhood home is called "At the Foot of a Certain Mountain" since the name "Mount Paozu" was only in the anime, and Yahhoy is depicted as a region rather than a city.
  • No Export for You: In spite of the Dragon Ball franchise's enduring popularity in the West, the game surprisingly never made it to Japan, America, or any market outside of South Korea, Taiwan, and Hong Kong. However, an extensive Game Mod translating the game to English was in the works and available to the end. To further the availability, Revelations is slated for release worldwide.
  • Screwed by the Network: The developers did know that there was an English audience - the costume store even accepted US dollars - but that still didn't stop them from shutting it down due to a perceived lack of interest.
  • What Could Have Been: There was an earlier build that was entirely different from the released game. Some of the differences are as follows, along with other planned additions to the game:
    • Full-blooded Saiyans and actual humans would've been playable races.
    • Instead of the Time Breakers as the main evil organization, it was instead a group called Dark Eye.
    • There was a marriage system planned where players could marry other players.
    • The son of Mira and Towa, Fu, was planned as a character to appear, yet he never made it past the manual. He was reinvented in Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 and Dragon Ball Heroes.
