Yes, you were, F.L.U.D.D. (sniff) Yes, you were...

  • Infamously, we have F.L.U.D.D.'s Disney Death.
    • The kicker? Mario, being the Heroic Mime he is, didn't even get a chance to say "Yes". On top of that, if you look closely, Mario appears to be crying right after F.L.U.D.D. dies, visibly trembling on his knees when it shuts down, and he wipes his eyes with his finger afterwards, but the camera shifts from the front to behind him, so he isn't actually seen shedding tears. Up until this point, he had a terrible vacation: the plane crashes, Isle Delfino is all dirty and vandalized, Bowser Jr. frames him for it (and his father's lies about Peach being Jr.'s mother don't help), the locals give him dirty looks when he visits the island as if they're blaming him for what happened, he's arrested without even getting a fair trial, he's sentenced to community service, thus forcing him to clean up this mess across the whole island, Peach is kidnapped in his absence and he has just lost a friend in F.L.U.D.D, witnessing it shutting down in front of him. Mario just can't catch a break, poor guy.
    • It doesn't help that even when Mario is on vacation, Bowser and his son still have to bust his chops and kidnap Peach as usual, and they don't even get what they deserve for ruining his vacation. After all those awful experiences back-to-back, how did he manage to stay remain the sunny, happy-go-lucky, cheerful man we all know and love? It really makes you want to give him a hug for how everything goes wrong for him when all he wants is enjoying a nice vacation.
    • If you aren't too wrapped up in the fight, you'll notice that F.L.U.D.D.'s dialog starts out normal, then gets increasingly broken. Considering a few things, like the fact that it doesn't look like it ever actually got hit during the fight, this implies either that it was steadily breaking throughout the entire game, or that Mario was handling it much rougher than it could take during the boss fight. And F.L.U.D.D. was either too concerned with the task at hand (or at least helping Mario) or didn't know it was breaking until the last minute.
