Despite injecting a lot of humor into its setting, NoPixel also has its share of dramatic moments.

  • Angel's kidnapping by Bovice left her with some deep emotional scars.
    • She complains to Dias about the police's poor rescue operation, and their apparently not caring about her well-being. Then Bovice calls her, and she's terrified that he's going to come kill her.
    • Still high off of the drugs that Bovice gave her, she notices KylieBitkin's chat, and explains that she doesn't like being Kylie's puppet, forced to kill people and crash cars so that the Twitch chat can have a laugh.
    • Angel opens up to Ducky about her abject terror over visions of the so-called "BoviceWorld." It's heartrending seeing the normally goofy and competent officer so broken.
  • Everything involving District Attorney Adrienne West's kidnapping by Bovice's goons, and her subsequent rescue.
    • They ambush her and ADA Kermit Delaw at PDM, capture her, and gun down Kermit. Kermit dies.
    • When Angel tracks down the car that Adrienne's being kidnapped in, she orders Officer Baas to open fire on the goons, knowing that Adrienne being shot and fixed up at Pillbox would be far better than anything Bovice has planned.
    • Traumatized at being shot at by the police on her sister's orders, Adrienne spends her time at Pillbox crying out Kermit's name. Ducky brings her a note found on Kermit's body. It's a love declaration.
    • Someone keeps anonymously calling the still-emotional Adrienne on the phone, pretending to be Kermit.
    • All of this rips apart Adrienne's sanity, and she gets committed to Parsons. This means that she's not able to testify in the murder trial, and Kermit's murderers get off scot-free.
  • Deputy Michael Dias' death.
    • Dias and Lauren were trying to hash out a relationship, and were in the middle of a fight at the time of Dias' death. What's worse, Dias was killed by the same shotgun that Denzel had used to give Lauren a nasty scar the week before.
    • While working DOC at the prison, Lauren opens up to Davey about Dias. Davey, who had lost his true love Maeve to a freak accident back in Ireland, drops his goofball act and opens back up to her about how Maeve's death sent him down his self-destructive path.
      • At the end of their conversation, Davey attacks another inmate for talking smack. Lauren doesn't get mad at Davey; her voice gets stern, but it's lined with a weary pity, as if she finally understands why Davey is the way he is.
    • Hedi and Lauren find and read a note that Dias had left for Lauren. It's so sad that both of their players get genuinely teary.
    • Just before his funeral service, dispatch radios in Dias' final call. At that exact moment, completely coincidentally, it starts snowing in the game.
    • Sergeant Angel, who was Dias' field training officer and saw him as a surrogate son, talks through tears about how much she cared about him and misses him.
    • Lauren's eulogy is heartbreaking, and she's unable finish it because she's so sad.note
  • Just about everything surrounding Dee Mented's life is tragic, making her a Jerkass Woobie.
    • In her backstory, she is abandoned in the garbage as a newborn. She is found and raised by different families of Juggalos, who pass her around from family to family, giving her abandonment issues. Because of this upbringing, Insane Clown Posse directly informs her sense of morality, and in her loneliness, she considers her hatchets her only true friends.
    • She eventually settles in with the Mented family and becomes acrimonious best friends with their daughter Tor, but her adoptive father is extremely abusive. Dee kills him to end the abuse, then flees to Los Santos to hide from Tor.
    • She struggles in Los Santos; most people are either terrified of her or think she's trashy. She has her tongue cut out by Vivi (which Ducky later replaces with a dog tongue), keeps getting her beloved hatchets confiscated by Deputy Dias, consistently gets cut down by the HOA and cops, and makes very little money as a stripper and a car washer.
    • She gets blamed for breaking up Nettie and Tracy, by way of giving Nettie a lap dance that Tracy had paid for.
    • She does make friends with Davey (her "Sewer Skank") and Ivan, who accept her for who she is despite her odd habits. She also comes to regard Zee as a Parental Substitute and confidante. Ultimately, her loyalty to Zee gets her killed; she and Ivan try going after the HOA for robbing Zee, and the HOA hack her to her Permadeath with her own hatchet and dump her body next to Zee's Diner.
    • Dee's death completely shatters Ivan. He starts hearing her voice in his head, adopts more Juggalo-like clown makeup, and goes into seclusion to draw up plans for annihilating the HOA.
    • Following all this, Tor comes to town intending to kill Dee for their father's murder. When Davey tells Tor that Dee's already dead, Tor instead puts together a hitlist to kill everyone who Dee was close to. This results in Davey and Nettie getting hatcheted, and Ivan's Permadeath.
    • Dee is resurrected three years later in 3.0 after three years in Hell and possessing a coyote, and it's immediately apparent that she Came Back Wrong: she's much more feral and bloodthirsty, and much angrier.
  • During the Halloween 2020 Zombie Apocalypse, Deputy Wrangler steals a police helicopter to go rescue Officer Divine in Paleto. Wrangler succeeds and rescues Divine, but Divine is weak; he's been bitten by a zombie and Wrangler knows he doesn't have long. Wrangler flies Divine to the top of Mount Chilead, and in a scene like the ending of Of Mice and Men, tells Divine that they're going to go to Vice City and have good time. The two officers tell each other they love each other, and Wrangler Mercy Kills Divine.
  • At one point, Kray Tor opens up to Andi about his time living in the Northern Wastes, and talks about his brother that he lost. It's absolutely gut-wrenching hearing how broken up he is about it, even years later.

  • Cornwood gets emotional when thinking about his ex-wife. It's rough seeing the normally jolly deputy so broken by a painful memory.
  • Everything concerning Misty Mocha's illness and passing was especially sad due to the harshest example of Real Life Writes the Plot: Misty's player Alex, aka DovahPug, had terminal cancer and wasn't getting better. Misty explained her/Alex's illness to other characters before Alex passed away.
    • Lt. Rhodes gives Misty's beloved sledgehammer to Windsong, who passes it along to Misty's friend Joe.
    • Misty's memorial service at a cove on the east side of the island was essentially a memorial service for Alex. Characters came together and gave eulogies, shared their favorite memories, and Tig Oconner sang a song she wrote in Misty's memory.
  • Mayor Andi Jones gets into an argument with Sheriff Pred, leading to a conversation where she opens up to Trooper Andrews about how stressed she is with her job as mayor and how it's negatively affecting her mental health. Shortly after, she meets Sergeant Angel at City Hall, grants Angel a generous funding request for a new recruitment program, and then tearfully gives Judges Stanton and Devereaux her two week resignation notice.
  • Meowfurryon was easily The Woobie:
    • He climbs into the trunk of Baas and Dante's police car, and overhears several conversations about meth production and the Vagos. When the officers aware of Meowfurryon's presence, they water torture him to figure out what he'd overheard, try to get him 5150'd to discredit him, and send him to prison.
    • This negatively affects his mental health, and he becomes more erratic. During Baas' trial, Meowfurryon removes his mask and reveals his real name, thus breaking a promise to the Stormlord (Talon).
    • Worried that Meowfurryon's behavior would put Talon at risk, Lang Buddha sends Meowfurryon along with Denzel to convert Meowfurryon to a life of violence via "tough love." Denzel beats him up and gaslights him; because of this, Meowfurryon fears an uncertain future with the Guild, and leaves Los Santos for a time.
    • He's eventually murdered by Talon and the Guild "for the Cause," which apparently exiles him to the NP Public universe.
    • And the kicker is, aside from his killers, no one in the main universe even knows that he's dead there. Most people think that he's only missing.
    • Even after his death Meowfurryon will very rarely manifest in the city. The most recent sighting of which was in the courthouse in the gallery behind Baas, where he waited until he was noticed to drop a heartbreaking, bone-chilling line. Even creepier is that while he's there the lights momentarily flicker off and on again before he just disappears.
"Why did you never find my body, Baas...? [...] Why did you never find me...!? [...] Baas... save me...! I'm dying...!!"
  • James Randall is the living embodiment of Scatterbrained Senior, with his senility typically played for laughs opposite other characters. But when he's injured and on the ground, and softly saying, "Help me...I'm so cold..." it is absolutely gut-wrenching.
  • The first major cop death of 3.0: Wesley Arnold. His death was a consequence by Burgershot employee Linda Maridan who deliberately pushed Mel's berserk button to get him to attack all the cops in the building. Made worse was the fact that Wesley had finally made his way into the San Andreas Park Rangers and brought in as a Senior Ranger. nathankb_ would state that Wesley's excessive kindness and exact perma conditions were meant to make it so that whoever killed him could only have done so out of genuine malevolence.
  • After Martell dies, Wrangler goes to talk to Windsong about it, asking if Windsong knew Martell. When Windsong says she didn't, and asks the normally closed-off Wrangler if Martell was a friend of his:
Wrangler: Yeah. Yeah, she was. But I never told her.
    • And Windsong asks to hug him, which Wrangler quietly accepts, and she expresses her condolences.
