The Shadow of the Templars & Director's Cut

  • In the comic prologue in Director's Cut, Nico remembers her last summer vacation as a child with her father. When the vacation was over, she witnessed her father's death in plane crash. What's worse is that since that day, she dreams that nightmare in her sleep every end of summer!
    • Nico's life, in general. Her parents were separated when she was eight years old, her beloved father dies when she was twelve years old (see the example above), she poaches squirrel hair for income, had to drop college in her final year, and always lose her opportunity to get a big break because her editor often rejects her important discoveries. To top it off, she cries herself to sleep at night!
  • Nico is distraught when she found out that her father was working with a criminal like Pierre in Africa. Fortunately, Imelda's letter proves that Thierry is an official spy who works with the good guys.
  • The Director's Cut have some sad moments especially to Imelda.
    • :Nico discovers Imelda's love letter and the last torn piece of photograph hidden in Thierry's small wooden box. Long time ago in Africa, Imelda fell in love with Thierry. When she found out that Thierry is a spy in French government, she never dared to tell her husband Pierre about it. She was willing to leave Pierre but she couldn't because Pierre might find out about Thierry's real motive. She decided to let Thierry escape back to France. Her personality changed because of her bitterness of losing her first love as well as the crimes that Pierre committed.
    • At the same scene, Nico ponders what was her father's feelings about his mission and then his romantic relationship with Imelda was incredibly sad.
  • The tale of Don Carlos and his missing children. Don Carlos was mad with grief when he found out that his children were taken by the Inquisition. He took his armor and shield and rode out alone to find his children. He never succeeded and his tomb is laid at the church in Montfaucon Square. Hundreds of years later, George discovers Don Carlos' children both trapped in the well and died hugging each other. Even George is symphatized to their situation.
  • Towards the end of the first game, Khan is dying from the gunshot wound. George asks Khan to help them, but Khan is unable to do so and says he must go to the garden of Paradise. Before Khan dies, he warns George about the effect of Sword of Baphomet and prays to Allah to guide the couple to their enemies. Given that Khan appears as a ghost in the second game, what's sadder is that he still never finds the Paradise.

The Smoking Mirror & Remastered

  • In the second game, George had to leave Nico to take care of his dying father in America.
    • The Remastered comic makes sadder. George tried contacting Nico via telephone, but he received a call from André. André lies to George by saying that Nico forgot about him and she's busy. Nico returns to her apartment and feels stressed from her investigation. She sees André who is helping to move her brand new TV. She asked him if he received any calls from George but André says "no" to her.
  • Also in the second game, Professor Oubier finds out that his wife's killer is none other than Karzac. He says to Karzac that he loves his wife and begs for mercy.

The Sleeping Dragon

  • When Nico sees Beatrice at the park, Beatrice is seen looked away with anxiousness and waits for her boyfriend which is quite sad. Nico tells Beatrice about Vernon's death and it caused Beatrice to run away.
  • At the Templar's headquarters, George enters to a room full of dead Templar members killed by Susarro and his army. Cue hearing the Templar's theme in the background and the scene is more heartbreaking. One of the victims is the guy who tazed George before. George encountered that man in a secret passageway from the wine cellar. The dying Templar helps George by giving hints to find Preceptor's room.
  • Susarro's reaction when he finds out that Petra is a traitor all along must have been hard on him.
Susarro: *bows head* "So, you are a spy all along."
  • Bruno sacrifices his own life to let George and Nico escape from Anubis. Before he dies, he tells the couple that he's prepared to face the punishment as a consequence of helping the Grand Master. His death is even more sad that George's face crumples and finds himself unable to save his friend. The next scene doubles as Crowning Moment of Heartwarming when Nico decides to hug him.

The Angel of Death

  • After all the adventures that George experienced in the third game, he is questioned and blacklisted by the CIA. When George is released, he finds out that his patent office is gone bust and nobody seems interested to hire him.
  • When George hears gun shots via Spallaci's radio and thought that Nico is killed, he is so depressed that he decided to take a drink. The next day, he is seen being drunk and tells Brother Mark that he wants to die. Thankfully, Nico is alive and returns to Anna-Maria's apartment.
  • Anna-Maria's death near the end of the fourth game. The scene ends abruptly and the game is the last chronologically. The player will never know what will be the future lives of George and Nico after that.

The Serpent's Curse

  • The moment where young Tiago and his mother had to leave Tiago's dying father and escape from Gehnen's henchmen.
    Tiago: "No! Papa!"
  • Even though Bijou is a jerk for having an affair with Hobbs and faked the provenance, she is still ecstatic about seeing Henri again and felt happy when she dance with him (who is actually George in disguise) one more time.
  • Ramon's story about how he witnessed Xavier and Hernandez being killed by Gehnen's henchmen. For a grumpy old man who witnessed death as a child, that's just sad.
  • In Santa Cova Chapel, after Langham takes the Tabula Veritatis, he shoots Tiago in front of George, Nico and Eva. Eva suffered a breakdown and taken as a hostage. Before Tiago dies, he tells George and Nico that they must go to Eden before Langham summons Lucifer. George and Nico feel sad from Tiago's tragedy.
