- For starters, the protagonist's name is Marty. He's got brown hair similar to that of his namesake. More obviously, he also has a pink hoverboard.
- Commander Hood and his entire organization are Captain Ersatzes of Commander Cobra and... COBRA.
- Guess what that means for the heroic group opposing them... Sgt. Johnson.

- One recurring character is a yellow-jumpsuited reporter named May.
- The Wizard is heavily inspired by The Wizard - he wields a Power Glove like Lucas, and eventually quotes the infamous "It's so bad" line. In addition, once you first use your magic binder, he quotes a Nintendo slogan from the era by declaring "Now you're playing with power!"
- The glove is a massive reference to Michael Jackson; using it causes Marty to moonwalk to the enemy, then hit them while shouting like Michael.
- Marty's school has two transfer students that are essentially Care Bears with the proportions of actual bears. In addition, a pseudo-Care Bear plush is an item; it lets Marty perform a Care-Bear Stare.

- The game opens with a predetermined boss fight with the Big Bad which preceded by the line "enough talk, have at you!" a reference to the memetic opening of Castlevania: Symphony of the Night.
- Benjamin and Nimajneb, the bosses of episode 2, have fighting stances clearly based off of Ryu/Ken. Compounding this, losing to them changes the usual text to "You were K.O.ed". Their names are also a reference to Tomax and Xamot from G.I. Joe.
- Episode 3 starts off with a knockoff of McGruff the Crime Dog named LaBeouf. His slogan is "Just say nononononono to drugs!", referencing the actor's tendency to drop Rapid-Fire Nos.
- A man in a trash can in episode 3 declares "It's a secret to everybody!"
- In episode 2, one of the kinds of posters on the walls is that of a rainbow with "Friendship Is Magic" under it.
- A couple of businesses in chapter 3 have names like "Tom's Cruises" (they even have a slogan saying "The Top Guns of travel"), "Kenny Log-Ins Cyber Cafe", "Read Richard's Books", and "John's Candy". There's also an S-Mart.
- The local McDonald's Expy is called RcAstley's. Their slogan is "Never Gonna Give Us Up".

- "16 Flames"
- "Albert"
- "Ben's Only Hope"
- "Better Off Dead"
- "Break On Through"
- "Chester Copperpot"

- "Jump Street"
- "Lundgren"
- "Macchio"
- "Norris"
- "Number Five Is Alive"
- "Rise From Your Grave"
- "Stallone"
- "The Only Way To Win"
- "Thunderdome"
- "Total Protonic Reversal"
- "Tyson"
- "Van Damme"
- "Why'd It Have To Be Snakes?"
- "Wild Stallions"
- "You'll Shoot Your Eye Out"
- In chapter 3, you find a Snoozer who complains about both the BadBots, and HOOD soldiers invading the dam. Then he asks "What next, evil sentient tomatoes?".
- Powertron cubes bare a striking resemblance to the cubes that Aperture Science tends to use in their test chambers.
- One car you see in town bears a strong resemblence to a DeLorean. It also has "88" on the front hood.
- In episode 5, Labeouf The Crime Dog says that an air traffic controller told him he picked the wrong day to stop sniffing glue.
- In the Jean Claude Van Dam is T-Shirts with "Save The Clock Tower" written on them.
