Shout Out / Pleasant Goat and Big Big Wolf

Go To

Pleasant Goat and Big Big Wolf has its fair share of references.

  • The title of episode 65, "蜘蛛狼" ("Zhizhu Lang", or "Spider-Wolf" in English) is exactly one Chinese character off from being the Chinese name for Spider-Man ("蜘蛛人" or "Zhizhu Ren"). Makes sense, since the episode itself is about Wolffy getting Projectile Webbing powers from a giant spider.
  • Episode 124's title card references Star Wars by showing the goats holding lightsabers. Wolffy is in the background wearing a helmet resembling that of Darth Vader.
  • In Great War in the Bizarre World episode 25, one of the merchant horses is seen selling plushes of the Happy Family characters. Makes sense; Creative Power Entertaining owns both it and this series.
  • Episode 342 is named "Police Story".
  • The goats put on a play of Sleeping Beauty in episode 495.
  • The title of the season Around the World in 20 Days is a reference to Around the World in Eighty Days.
  • Episode 18 of Around the World in 20 Days has references to real American people.
  • Pleasant Goat Sports Game episode 58 is titled "Return of the Jedi".
  • In the third film, as Weslie is being chased by a melon trooper using a Rolling Attack, Sparky tries to kick the trooper out of the way and yells "Beckham's goal kick!" as he does so.
  • Joys of Seasons episode 15 is called "Toy Story". The episode itself does not resemble the film apart from both being about Living Toys, but given that Pleasant Goat has named several of its episodes after well-known films, they most likely named the episode "Toy Story" as a shout-out to the film.
  • In Joys of Seasons episode 18, as Tibbie paints a picture of Paddi about to eat an apple, a cactus in the shape of a Cactuar can be seen in the background at one point. The same cactus keeps appearing occasionally throughout the season. It also appeared earlier, in Great War in the Bizarre World episode 25.
  • In Joys of Seasons episode 42, the goats go on a pirate adventure and meet Mr. Lǎofēi, a pirate who wears a straw hat. The character is known as Mr. Ruffy in the Disney English dub.
  • The official English YouTube upload of Joys of Seasons episode 42 has the text "Don't be a pirate unless you're Jack Sparrow" in its title.
  • In The Athletic Carousel episode 55, Mr. Slowy summons a pitchfork-wielding bee from a Pokeball to give Weslie a boost into the air.
  • In I Love Wolffy, Pi Zong's superhero outfit is an obvious parody of the one donned by Superman, with the Chinese character "皮" ("pi") in the middle where the Superman symbol would be.
  • In I Love Wolffy, Yaya is seen playing New Super Mario Bros. on a Nintendo DS. The DS is subsequently used to contact Mr. Slowy and Wolnie in the Pleasant Goat world.
  • The basic premise of the fifth film, the Noah's Story Arc about the goats attempting to stay away from a flood by boarding a spaceship called the Ark, is a reference to The Bible.
  • In the fifth film, Bieber is carried away by a bird who claims he's his father and thinks he's been practicing kung-fu too hard. Bieber's response is "This is a mistake! I'm not Kung Fu Panda!"
  • In I Love Wolffy 2, Wolffy is seen doing the Gangnam Style dance during the intro.
  • The game Where's My Water? Featuring XYY features a famous singer named Jackson Sheep, who is clearly inspired by Michael Jackson.
  • Tetris is played in the beginnings of episodes of Mr.Wolffy, Mr.Right!
  • In Mr.Wolffy, Mr.Right!, there are posters on the background of Creative Power Entertaining's other shows.
  • The Little Detective episode 1 has a wall painting of Creative Power Entertaining's other show Fun Alliance.
  • In Mighty Little Defenders episode 1, Wolffy uses General Wolf's functional chip in an attempt to catch the goats, but it transforms him into a dog. The Transformation Sequence in this scene greatly resembles the ones used in Sailor Moon.
  • The signature poses of Conan Edagawa are replicated by some of the characters in a number of episodes (Mighty Little Defenders episode 18, Rescue Across Time episodes 22 and 37, Ultimate Battle: The Next Generation episodes 9 and 26, The Great Rescue episodes 25 and 46). In The Great Rescue episode 46, Wolffy accompanies it with Conan's line "One truth prevails!"
  • In Mighty Little Defenders episode 27, Paddi uses a stick given to him by Sparky to attempt to open the neon bars of the cell he's in. His dialogue as he does so, "Give me a supporting point, and I can dig up the whole world!", is paraphrased from Archimedes of all people.
  • In Mighty Little Defenders episode 46, giant tetrominoes are sent down to crush Wolffy.
  • In Mighty Little Defenders episode 47, Weslie and Wolffy come across Snow White, who is unconscious from eating the poisoned apple. She's wearing the blue and yellow dress that the Disney version of Snow White wears.
  • In the movie Dunk for Future, Sparky is seen playing a Nintendo Switch several times, including during the Training Montage.
  • In the original broadcast version of The Great Rescue episode 1, dancing cats appear whose hairstyles are patterned off the μ's from Love Live!. Subsequent streaming service releases replaced them.
  • In The Great Rescue episode 9, Wolffy recites Team Rocket's famous line "Prepare for trouble! And make it double!"
  • In The Great Rescue episode 20, Sparky forges armor in the same way that Tony Stark does.
  • In The Great Rescue episode 36, Er Bao draws a picture in the dirt that looks like Doraemon.
