Shout Out / But Really Really Fast

Go To

In General

  • "Battle Tendency", "Stardust Crusaders" and "Diamond is Unbreakable" all have Joestar family members making a declaration to their opponent who then tells them to roll a 20-sided die for the attempt ala Dungeons & Dragons. Each time the die comes up a natural 20. Young Joseph and Lisa Lisa get the Column Fellows to concede reluctantly, while Old Joseph is told a 20 isn't enough to beat Daniel J. D'Arby (since D'Arby cheats). In "Diamond is Unbreakable", Josuke repeatedly rolls 20s with the help of Mikitaka, much to Rohan’s frustration.
  • In the April Fool's 2019 video, Light says, "You may ask yourself, 'Well, how did I get here?'"
  • In "Where is Josuke?", Near states that his victory was "pure luck" and that he was "not in control of the situation at all".
  • In "Giorno Explains King Crimson", when discussing the scene in the elevator with Bruno and Trish, Koichi says "I mean, we have to talk about Bruno!"

Death Note

  • One of Ryuk's lines is, "Willem Dafoe," alluding to his actor in the live-action Death Note adaptation. Later he says, "Quarter-Life: Halfway To Destruction." Also, the warehouse where the final confrontation takes place in is called "Walleye Warehouse"; Near even offers Light a rubber-banded controller.note

Phantom Blood

  • The zombies that serve as dio's minions are clearly modelled after the zombies from Plants vs. Zombies. Ditto for the ones that walk around in the town where the gang meets Enya in "Stardust Crusaders".

Battle Tendency

Stardust Crusaders

Toy Story

  • The humans are represented by a shoe that's reminiscent of Mr. Big Shoe from The Demented Cartoon Movie and that makes the same "splat" sound when stomping the ground.

Diamond is Unbreakable

Five Nights at Freddy's

  • Subverted in that Viva has confirmednote  that the videos' naming convention is not an intentional reference to The Living Tombstone. Though the last line spoken by Red Version Mike may reference one of their songs Die In A Fire.
    • With the release of the first FNAF 2 video, it becomes clear, what is the reference here.
      • As for how the naming scheme works, the second game in a named pair (Blue, Silver) depicts a new player (and is the first video in a pair) and the first game in a named pair (Red, Gold) depicts a veteran player.
  • The video is interrupted by MatPat lookalike explaining "The Lore".
  • Freddy's specific greeting to Mike with baritone during "Five Nights at Freddy's - BLUE VERSION":
Freddy: Hello everybody, my name is Freddy Fazbear.

Thus Spoke Kishibe Rohan OVAs

  • A guy accidentally hitting the back of his head with a golf club and dying is accompanied by the "Good birdie!" sound clip from Wii Sports.

Squid Game

  • Tug o' war is constantly referred to as "Tug o' war from Mario Party specifically", and even includes the Piranha Plant at the bottom.
  • Jun-ho infiltrates the facility where the games are being held by moving in and out of vents, Among Us style.
  • Mi-nyeo says "This is what we call a pro-gamer move!" before she suplexes Deok-su, riffing on a meme that started from Vsauce's "D!NG" channel.
  • The titular Squid Game is called "Splatoon joke", and much like in "Death Note", the game supervisor offers a rubber-banded controller for either of the two finalists.

Golden Wind

  • A poster in Jotaro's office is for Free Willy But Really Really Fast.
  • Yet another TMBG reference, as Black Sabbath's lines of dialogue consist of it shouting "WOULD YOU LIKE TO SEE THAT GROOVY THING" and "EVERYONE WANTS TO SEE THAT GROOVY THING", references to "Spiraling Shape" off of Factory Showroom. Diavolo also references the song's lyrics when he monologues about the arrows ("excellence or serious injury"), and the song itself plays in slow motion after Diavolo is punched by Gold Experience Requiem.
  • Soft Machine's Stand description is "Inception horn".
  • Sex Pistols' Stand description, if you take out the "GUN" Running Gag, is "When a mommy and a daddy love each other very much..."
  • Kraft Work's Stand description is "Owa daim," alluding to the shrine in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild where you unlock the Stasis rune (which is basically Kraft Work's Stand power), and its use is accompanied by visuals and sound effects associated with said rune.
  • Bucciarati finding Polpo's treasure stash and levelling up references the infamous Very False Advertising from Mafia City, in particular their "Level 1 Crook vs Level 35 Boss" ads.
  • Coco Jumbo's Stand description is a vocal rendition of the theremin part of the Doctor Who opening, probably because Mr. President is Bigger on the Inside.
  • Beach Boy's Stand description is "Hooked on a fffishing line," referencing the song "Hooked on a Feeling", give or take a Last-Second Word Swap.
  • Spice Girl's stand description is "Shock Spring Wallpaper".
  • Spice Girl's Stand cry goes a little bit further with the "Wannabe" reference than in the source material, using a line from the song's refrain instead of its title.
  • Green Day's Stand description riffs off the lyrics from the real Green Day's song "Basket Case".
Do you have the time, to KILL everything all at once~
  • Viva Reverie confirmed that Oasis' Stand description ("#deep") is a reference to the Bo Burnham song of the same name, specifically the lyric, "If Jesus can walk on water, can he swim on land?"
  • Right before Giorno engages the famous "7-Page Muda", a sound effect from Marvel vs. Capcom 3 plays, specifically the one upon starting a Level 3 Hyper Combo.
  • The Stand known as Rolling Stones, which follows people who are fated to die soon, is described in its card simply as, "Your density".
